  1. Since you just did that, can you supply a link to that travel summary? I think many here would benefit from that. I can usually find that summary, but yesterday I could not. I was using Firefox on my PC which generally works fine. Doug
  2. "Have you tried turning it off then back on again?" quote from the IT Crowd several years ago. True then, true now. 😎
  3. I couple of years ago we did that, and I don't recall it took long. But then insurance has changed since then I am sure.
  4. Oh, I have the download you mention for my state. I understand what is/is not covered; other than trying to find how long an CFAR FCC would be valid. Apparently that length of time is unknown to anyone. But you may be onto something there. But what is the "minimum"? The lowest I could find was $59 at the Princess.com link, which is the minimum one would pay, I'd assume for a really short cruise, maybe 2-3 days in an interior cabin. But even that fee doesn't match the $69 my TA quoted. We're Platinum, so we'd pay 8% of our trip's cost for Premium PVP insurance. That's a far cry from $69 each! I think my TA is wrong, but that's very much unlike him. My final payment is in only a couple of weeks, so I will have to decide soon....most likely I will just stick with the insurance (non-Princess) and forgo an CFAR coverage. That's a shame. Hopefully the world and my situation will improve by then, eh?😉
  5. In my admittedly limited experience, all cruise lines "offer" the packages even though we already have them. If it's on your printout/receipt/invoice from your TA you should be fine. I know for sure that's how Celebrity does it, but I have not cruised with Princess for a few years. Doug
  6. Ah, thanks for posting that! Glad to see I can access our folio so easily. In the pre-Medallion days I'd go down to the purser's deck every other day to get a print out; pain for them and for me!😎 Doug
  7. Thanks. That's my understanding also. My TA is usually very knowledgeable about such things, which is the only reason I am pursuing this. I'd hoped that maybe my TA had some "special knowledge" or offer from Princess to offer that reduced $69 cost. I'm temping to have him quote in writing that cost includes CFAR as outlined at Princess Vacation Protection at Princess.com. If so, that CFAR IMO would be a real bargain. I already have excellent insurance for our trip, but there is no CFAR clause like the PVP has. At my age CFAR becomes more important every year. Alternately I could get the PVP insurance at 8% of the cruise's cost JUST to get the CFAR coverage. However, that would add about $280 to my insurance for this trip.....is that worth it just to get the added CFAR protection? I'll have to think on that one.....🤔 Doug
  8. Is there a way to see your shipboard account aka folio on the Medallion app? I see Home, Order, Journey, Compare and Profile at the bottom of the app screen. I know it's also possible to get a print out from the purser's desk. Is there a way to see your shipboard account aka folio on your cabin's TV screen? Thanks. Doug
  9. We always get very good medical, evacuation, trip interruption, etc travel insurance with a non-cruise line company. However, we could not get CFAR insurance for a Princess cruise we just booked for March 2023. My TA said we could get Princess insurance for $69. Sounds like a bargain as long as it contains the CFAR clause (75% of paid fees in the form of a FCC). I am concerned mainly about ME deciding to cancel around 2-4 weeks prior to sailing for a NON covered reason. I am fine with the FCC....but want to know how long that FCC is valid. I called my TA at least once asking him to confirm the $69 pp cost; he did. Also asked him about the CFAR clause. He directed me to Princess.com, which indicates the cost is 8% (get premium coverage at standard rate because we'd Princess Platinum) of the trip's cancellation cost as of the date I cancel. That's far different from the $69 he gave me. I asked him again to verify with Princess, he again said it's $69. In frustration I called Princess today to get the correct information (I know, but I can dream, right?). The Princess agent could not tell me the cost of the insurance, including his inability to confirm the $69 my TA said, and the agent did not know how long the FCC is valid....said it's "usually around 1 to 2 years". Does anyone have any hard information on: 1. Cost of the Princess Vacation Protection (aka Princess insurance) costs? 2. If one CFAR, how long is the FCC valid? Thanks. I don't need any coverage except for the CFAR as outlined in paragraph 1, but I'd sure like to get CFAR coverage, especially at $69 per person. Remember when we didn't need to be an attorney to cruise?😉 Doug
  10. The Princess airport transfer is $60, so in comparison the tour only adds another $40 per person. Still, that's lot in my cheap little Scottish mind! Still, that might be the best way to do things on disembarkation day. No, I had not considered getting a room prior to our flight, but I will now. Always good to considered all the possibilities, eh? Doug
  11. Thanks, that is useful information for our situation. Was your airport Marriott at HOU or IAH? We'll be at IAH. I didn't realize Princess could pick up at the hotel. I think that Houston tour is going to be our time killer and airport shuttle also. Expensive, but I don't want to sit around the airport too many hours. I sure hope our late 8PM flight is not canceled that night!😩 Doug
  12. I suppose there is some solace in that there's no rush getting from the pier to the airport. 😉 I don't really want to spend nearly 8 hours sitting around IAH with our luggage, so I'm trying to come up with an alternate plan to kill those hours after we disembark the ship, which I figure will be around 0900. - Thought about renting a car and touring Galveston, lunch, etc. But car rental places are closed that day, nearest place is 15 miles away and charges nearly $100 for a 6-8 hour rental! That's for an econo-car also, not a Mercedes.🤑 - Thought about doing the cruise line's Houston "excursion" which takes about 4 hours and would drop us off at the airport around 1400/2pm. Costs about $100 each. Ouch. - Any other ideas? I'm pretty sure we'd have to keep our luggage with us, as airlines usually won't let us check in any earlier than a few hours. That complicates things. I am open to suggestions! Thanks. Doug
  13. Thanks very much. That's my plan also. Princess' "MTD" looks like a pretty good plan to me, I like the flexibility of pre-scheduling "in advance". Doug
  14. Yeah, transportation now had become more complicated: I booked our air transportation today on Princess EZ-Air. Our MEM-IAH arrives around 1900/7PM and our IAH-MEM departs IAH at 2000/8PM. So we've tossed out the idea of going to a Galveston hotel upon arrival; just too late. Instead we will find a hotel near IAH then use something, hopefully SWMs the following morning to get to the pier. At our cruise's termination, since we will have around 10 hours to kill before our flight, I am considering (trying to) rent a car in Galveston to drop off at the IAH airport later that evening. We can play tourist on the island, have an early dinner, etc. Really rotten airline flight times.....but good news is they are both non-stop flights. Doug
  15. When did you make your reservations? That day? Day before? A long time before? Just curious.....I need to download the app and try to make reservations, but our cruise is not until March 2023 so I'm pretty sure I'm far, far to early. Maybe have the final payment? Doug
  16. Roger that, thanks. I did see info on that at Princess.com yesterday. I'll have to probably re-download the Medallion app as the last time we had it was for a cancelled Feb 2021 cruise, and before that, for a Nov 2019 cruise we took. Doug
  17. Your are a princess among princesses, Sarah. Thanks for that email! I'll contact her this week. I just booked our cruise (Mar2023), so there are many details I'm getting ironed out. Doug
  18. We use traditional early dining whenever possible. We have some cruise line the flexible dining worked well because we could make reservations well in advance of our sailing date; or at least a day or so in advance. On other cruise lines I've found that is sometimes not possible until that day, and then trying to get something "early" is nearly impossible. At one time with Princess' flexible hours, we could not get reservations before 2000....but that was many cruises ago. So how's it work now on Princess? Can be request a table for two, at say 1730-1830? And it so, when can we do that? Thanks for your recent experience. Doug
  19. You got them "via facebook" I'm assuming? Do you maybe have a phone number, email or URL for them? Thank you. Doug
