  1. Something similar happen to us in September. I had requested assistance for my mother and on arrival at Southampton they had no record of the fact, but on arrival in our cabin there was notification of my mother's dietry requirements. How? The e-mail I sent to P&O contained both the form for assistance and her dietry needs.
  2. A mixed day here of sunshine and showers. Looking out the window the sky is blue but torrential rain in beating against the window. Meeting a couple of friends for coffee this morning.
  3. Hope your appointment goes well and she can help. Glad things went to plan yesterday @P&O SUE at your Dad's funeral
  4. Morning, hope everyone is keeping well. Still mild down here at 13c, no rain forecast for today but windy. A trip to Tesco is on the cards this morning and then I'll call in at Mum's on my way back, but other than that nothing planned. My thoughts are with you @P&O SUE on this sad day. Hope all goes to plan.
  5. Glad to hear that things were'nt serious and that you were well looked after. Hopefully your insurance gets things sorted soon.
  6. There was ballroom dancing taking place on Britannia in September.
  7. Thank you for your blog, as always an interesting and informative. Good to hear you got home safely.
  8. Currently bright at 8c and expected to get up to 12c, so still relatively mild. With regard to traffic speeds, the main road through town is due to be reduced to 20 mph next year, although you are lucky if you can do that anyway. Years back they widen the footpaths as a traffic calming measure which has caused massive congestion and there is often a queue of traffic along the main road. It is worse when the A30 by pass is closed due to roadworks or an accident.
  9. I've jsut checked on My P&O and is now showing there at the top right hand corner after clicking Before you Sail. Having just clicked through on it for OH there are a different set of questions to the e-mail I received yesterday with a link attached.
  10. We were onboard Britannia in September and the times shown on The Horizon are as follows, Stravanger Arrive 9.30 am Back on Board 4.30 pm Olden Arrive 9.30 am Back on Board 5.30 pm Flam Arrive 8.15 am Back on Board 5.30 pm (although we didn't leave until the following day and missed Haugesund, due to bad weather) I hope this helps, although different cruises may have different timings.
  11. The wind's pretty rough here too and we are on land near the North coast!
  12. As previously mentioned, they had been notified that my mother required assistance.
  13. I know that, but I have also booked assistance in the past. Did you see my previous post, where I had booked assistance for my mother and it wasn't conveyed to the assistance team?
  14. Congratulations to you all. He share's his birthday with my brother!
  15. I too have now received the following e-mail. Dear Mrs ........... We’re looking forward to welcoming you on board Azura. As you are due to sail with us next year, we want to share some information that may be important for you to know before your holiday. When it comes to what you're looking for in a holiday (great dining and entertainment, stunning destinations and fun activities on board and ashore for everyone), we think we know you pretty well. But it’s your responsibility to make sure we also know you well when it comes to any individual additional support you may require. Recently, some guests have arrived at the terminal with specific on board needs that they did not make us aware of prior to their holiday. Unfortunately, to ensure we have sufficient capability to support all our guests at all times, this meant those guests were unable to board the ship. We’re reminding you that you must inform us of any mobility or accessibility requirements when making a booking or as soon as possible after your booking is made. This is still applicable if a carer or companion will be supporting you during your time on board. Failure to notify us of these requirements may result in you being denied boarding at your own expense at the cruise terminal. It's vital to inform us if, for example, in the unlikely event of an emergency, you would need: a) An evacuation chair – this is a mandatory requirement for anyone who is unable to use the stairs due to mobility or other circumstances, or for anyone bringing a wheelchair or mobility scooter. or b) One-to-one assistance – this is a mandatory requirement for anyone who requires someone to guide and steady them on the stairs, due to mobility or other circumstances. For anyone who uses a mobility aid, such as a walking stick or walker, this is the recommended level of assistance. Please visit My P&O Cruises for more information and, if necessary, to complete the questionnaire (or send us a new one if things have changed since your booking). Please note that you must complete a new questionnaire each time you sail with us, so this applies for all future bookings that you have. You can email accessibility@carnivalukgroup.com for further guidance or, if you’ve booked through a travel agent, your agent will be happy to help. If you’re still unsure, you can call the P&O Cruises Customer Contact Centre on 03453 555 111 (local call charges apply). We'd like to wish you a wonderful holiday. Thank you for choosing P&O Cruises. FIND OUT MORE » By clicking through to the complete quesionnaire it then takes me to MY PO login, and am unable to proceed past the first page as like Megabear my OH only uses a walking stick occasionally, i.e. when walking long distances (from check in to the aircraft steps) but does not require any other assistance.
  16. That's good to know. We are on Azura in January.
  17. Oh Josy so sorry. Catching up this morning with wha has been written has bought a lump to my throat. Words are not enough but my thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.
  18. Thinking about it, I have requested assistance, (through our TA) for OH for our fly/cruise in January but haven't been asked to fill in any form.
  19. That happen to us in September. I completed the assistance form and sent it in on behalf of my mother and I know they had received it as I had a reply, informing me that they had updated the form and I needed to fill in the updated version. I did, attached it to an e-mail informing them of my mother's allergy. I received a confirmation of my e-mail also saying that they had noted my mother allergy. When we arrived at Southampton, her name was not on the list of people who had booked assistance. They were adament that I had not sent in the request. If I had had access to my e-mails at check in I could have proved to them that I had. On arrival in our cabin there was a letter regarding her allergy. Howcome half of the e-mail was dealt with? My mother was very upset about this situation and with the letter she was handed at check in. I said I was going to e-mail a complaint when we arrived home, but due to illness on my return I didn't. I have since wondered if it had gone through in my name as I sent the email!
  20. They are few and far between. My mother and I were offered help, but my mother needed to check the ingredients in an item and while we were talking to the server behind the counter about her allergy he disappeared!
  21. Oh, Josy I am so sorry. I've no words to say, but had to say something! Sending virtual hugs🤗🤗
  22. I had the same problem when we were on Britannia in September due to lack of trays and Mum in her wheelchair. I sometimes also have dexterity problems in one hand so can only really carry one plate at a time, therefore I was back and forth like a yoyo, getting food and then drinks. Removal of the trays may reduce food waste? 😕but it causes a lot more congestion!
  23. Rain down here and still mild. Met friends for coffee yesterday and had a good chat. We decided we'd get together for a meal before Christmas, but instead of arranging it then, we spent the evening texting back and forth, with me being in the middle, to sort it out🙄 We can't do things the easy way!🤣 Nothing interesting planned for today, just a day of household chores. Enjoy your day.
  24. I have always had no problem taking taking enough clothes for my holiday, with one case each and often bring back clothes that I haven't worn. The nearest I get to the launderette when onboard, is walking past the door🤣
  25. The say is always rains in Bergen, but we have always had good weather when we have docked there.
