  1. Celebrity doesn't do the 'drinks per day' thing. Your Diamond + gets you Elite + on Celebrity. Check CC Benefits Chart.pdfattached for perks for each tier, paying attention to beverage package discounts. Not knowing what kind of cabin you've booked, can't say what other perks might be in store, especially if in one of the higher suites. All suites will drink for free in the Retreat bar. Did you book the "AI" or "Cruise only" fare? If "AI" you already have the 'Classic' drinks package, so the only choice left would be to upgrade to 'Premium' if you wanted to do so. One complimentary Specialty Coffee when you dine in a Specialty Restaurant Complimentary cappuccino, latte, tea, espresso Discount on any bottle of wine 20% Discount on Premium Drink Package upgrade when purchased pre-cruise only 15% If you go online NOW, check the "Plan my cruise" and see if there aren't deals better than 15% for a drinks package. I see the Elite "Happy Hour" was covered before I could hit submit. So there's that, too.
  2. You say you're a Celebrity "newbie", but don't say if you have any loyalty status on one of the other two associated lines (Royal and Silversea). If so, you might find some laundry perks in store as well.
  3. Kids defined at age 18-26. No change except the price.
  4. For the newbies to Nord on a phone, here's the setup for Android mentioned above ... not really intuitive: Profile / scroll down / Settings / VPN protocol / Open VPN (TCP)
  5. Have had reasonably good results using WiFi calling mode while aboard. That allows for inbound texts in addition to inbound calls. At one time this appeared to require premium WiFi according to some. I was never sure as we always had premium.
  6. Ever look a the location of the pilot house on freighters (even the Lakes ships) built in the last 50 years?
  7. Discounts always have to be based upon some stake in the ground, and "list price" (what you'd pay without any discount) is almost always that stake. Nothing new there.
  8. Believe this to be true, but also believe it extends far past the Retreat staff. We decided to use the MDR for lunch one day - something interesting on the menu - and were addressed by last name by the maître d' at the door. Was the first time on that cruise that we'd set foot into the MDR, and the maître d' wasn't familiar from any other cruise.
  9. It's not that it matters to me whether I have advance info ... just thought that the excuse used to shut down that info flow was really lame. As is often the case with X, the explanation as to "why" is often worse than the action itself.
  10. Not bad, but nothing we'd ever have any interest in doing. I'd have to go back a LOT of years to find a cruise where we've been aboard less than 13 nights.
  11. Our experience in the Retreat/Michael's is that if there's something in particular that you'd like, and you convince the bartender that you'll be around to enjoy it, pretty much anything available in onboard bar inventory will be made to appear for the duration of your cruise. If it's a little scarce, it may even be kept below the bar.
  12. I know this is the Celebrity side of the family, but just a warning against doing this on the Silversea site to anyone thinking of ever doing so... They have an electronic wait list system there, and if you cancel an excursion, and there's a wait list because it's already full, someone else just got your slots! I did this not to reprice anything, but to change time slot from 11:00 am to 10:00 am. Like many of these systems, they won't let you book overlapping activities, so if the durations would cause an overlap, you have to cancel one before booking another. But you won't know for sure if there are enough slots available, if any, for the alternate time slot until you've already cancelled. So you can easily lose your ability to reserve either slot! Never use the online system and leave yourself open to that - work over the phone with Shorex to sort out changes after booking.
  13. Perhaps, but imagine buying tickets to a concert venue, but the venue not telling you who will be playing until after you've arrived for fear of privacy concerns for band members. Umm... no. One can extend the privacy argument in all kinds of directions re public performances to demonstrate how little sense it makes. I think I understand the issue a little better for guest speakers who rarely get involved in "away games" of this magnitude, but like the big boys, the cost of doing business requires that they need to make provisions for leaving their castle guarded while off in the hinterlands. If they can't manage that time away, perhaps they shouldn't be spending it that way. And as someone else pointed out, most entertainers work hard to ENABLE their followers to know where they'll be performing and when to get those future ticket sales rolling!
  14. See that ours is still included. Will wait to see if anything we have booked has improved. Previous sale experience says that any sales on shorex is strictly dynamic pricing. The popular stuff has nearly no discount. Oddball stuff goes cheaper. Next sale always carries the same trend forward, with perhaps a few that are getting more heavily subscribed being discounted less than they were before. Never see it go the other way.
  15. Best guess as to what the original chair/lounger removal business brouhaha was about --- Giving the chair back a bit of a shove, or even leaving ones weight on it if leaning back when reclining, puts the top of the back of the chair right into the glass slider. One or more such incidents would put the 'loss management' folks into a total panic. Then again, they're easily panicked. Seems to have some merit based upon the *general* manner in which location of the removals, such as they've been to date, were determined.
  16. If you have a cruise booked, go to Plan my Cruise and check the spa services for hair and nails for the full list. Prices vary for different times during the cruise. What they are advertising for prices are for the cheaper (30% off) times when the ship is in port. Pick your day/time and see your price: Examples:
  17. As noted above by others, we're talking about two different things. Was asking about subject retreat lounge offerings, hence our "We've never been there before about noon" in the post to which you replied.
  18. Geez. That makes about as much sense as a land based venue keeping their concert or speakers schedule a secret. Lame excuse.
  19. Same across the fleet? Or is this something new for E class?
  20. @DaKahuna Many thanks. I was making it too complicated by going into the profile itself.
  21. Our experience is the same. Have never even been able to find any common itinerary elements to make it predictable. We've always booked aboard if we were going to attend, and shuffled everything around that. Unfortunately, they don't even put the date in the online planner DURING the cruise, so the OP can't even look at a comparable itinerary to find out. Would need to find someone on the ship, and hope the itinerary is the same and that the day doesn't change.
  22. Good site for watching any progress/changes: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php This Reflection cruise is a short 4 day head to the Bahamas where the weather forecasts aren't too bad apart from rain possibilities. Any issues will be in/out of Florida from the looks of things so far.
  23. OK. I'm 20 years and 9,735 posts into my membership here, and thinking that it's finally time to give the "Ignore" button a try to reduce the clutter ... but darned if I can find it. I go to the individual profile, but don't see it anywhere as an option. Can someone direct me?
  24. We've never been there before about noon (more typically early afternoon). If we arise late on an at-sea day, we usually just troll the buffet for the basics. Are we just talking 'continental breakfast' items? Same across the fleet?
  25. Certainly wouldn't hurt, but July/August aren't noted for much here. The area up to the foothills is technically graded as "high desert plateau".
