Last year we cruised with NCL in Alaska.  While in any American port we were charged an extra 'tax' for drinks despite having the drink package.  It was about a $1 per drink.  Does this happen on RCL?

Specifically, we are cruising out of Port Canaveral, going to Labadee, Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, St. Croix.

In Alaska , i imagine you were paying state sales tax. Not a cruise line issue.

In the Caribbean , that does not happen.

@mo&fran There are some You Tube videos of people on the WC.

One is by a retired couple- I think they go by Life Phase 2 (or something like that). If you search RCL World Cruise on You Tube , their site should come up.

As I have noted before @island lady is doing a great job of keeping CC readers up to date on the WC and their experiences.

Maybe, among  the “new” passengers that boarded the ship recently, someone  may be posting on CC as well.

    MJ🙎🏻‍♀️

I have seen that You Tube video, but other than the one where they unpacked at the beginning (interesting) , the next have been about their excursions at ports we have called at anyway. Maybe someone onboard can track them down and convince them to join CC and that will fill the void.

I don’t know if I will be awake to see the Vulcan Centaur rocket launch on Monday.  It is supposed to be at 2:18 am.  Allure should be 80-90 miles south of the launch site at that time.

Although most of the hype has been regarding the inaugural flight of the Peregrine Lunar Lander for Astrobiotic of Pittsburgh, it also has other important cargo.

In true @Ozark_Kid fashion, it appears people are dying to go to outer space.

For those Star Trek fans, the ashes of Gene Roddenberry, Majel Barrett, Deforest Kelley, James Dothan, and Nichelle Nichols will also be aboard.  The remains and DNA of 338 people are part of the payload, destined for the moon or outer space.

You too can be aboard a future flight, according to Celestis’ website.

I believe all of the Star Trek actors are on the Voyager mission to deep space.

We are about 110 miles from the space center, no issues seeing launches. 2AM is even better.

Fantastic news! I’m so happy for you.

Sometimes sacrifices must be made. Cheers!!

Thanks so very much.   How is Linda doing.  I once fell and crushed my wrist. When I  was in the recovery room after they repaired my wrist, there was a patient beside be that had rotator cuff surgery and the doctor described what he had to do now, and I hoped I never had to go through that.

    Great news from the oncologist.

    I'm pleased for you.

All the best for your future good health.

I cannot help but wonder, if I had been on a 9 month world cruise, and what if I had discovered the lump in my neck at 5 months, at what point do you leave the ship to get home to seek treatment. Who and when does that decision get made?

  6. More good news.  I had my first ENT appointment yesterday. He said his visual inspection of my throat shows no sign of the cancer. He will monitor every couple of months. He said it could take a year for all of the after effects of the radiation to go away.

While I was in treatment, they stopped and I received 2 units of blood. When I returned, the oncologist did a blood test and ordered another of blood.  Earlier this week I had another test, and the oncologist said it is looking good and no more blood.

Apparently  the treatment affected the bone marrow.

I guess these are all good signs.

Yep, our Icon cruise that we booked way back in October of 2022 for March of 2023 (in 10 weeks 🙂) is up nearly 3 fold. A 300% increase! Insanity! I would've never paid that much! We paid $7k total for one balcony room and one "spacious" interior room for 4 people total (2 per room). Last time I checked, the price was over $20k! I mean, c'mon man! 😳

Let face it, there is another thread on CC that talks about insane prices all over Royal, not just this new ship. Great if the can get it. I love other people spending

their money.  I'm not spending mine.    My TA is doing good so far.

As @George C noted, we're watching the Bills game on Sunday afternoon.  Then home to change out of our Bills gear and into something a little fancier for dinner with 3 other couples at 7:30. We might be able to make the big New Year's Eve event here...the shrimp drop (instead of a ball drop) and fireworks. Yes...shrimping is a big deal here, the birth place of the modern shrimping industry.  The shrimp drop happens at 7:00 instead of midnight.  They use 7:00 since that's midnight GMT, it allows it to be a more family friendly event, and so that everyone can be at home and in bed by 10:00. 😁

Here's the shrimp drop from 2019 before covid.  I expect similar crowds this year.

Doesn't it actually start at the international date line passes midnight.

  9. I want to wish all a happy holiday, and thank all of you who offered prayers and support in my battle with throat cancer. Today, my oncology doctor tells me I have no signs of the cancer. I now move into the next stage, follow up visits with an ENT who will monitor and watch for any signs of it coming back.

It'as been 20 years since I last smoked, but the pre treatment  diagnosis seems to point st that as the cause.

Yes, everything is good at home, thanks.

Hope that is  fresh water.  I once had a car that got flooded by an overnight  rain cell. When I sent the car to be repaired he asked if it was salt water that it was in, i said just rain. I said what would salt be different..  He said they would total the car.
