Mine was throat cancer. I started noticing issues with swallowing during our may cruise, then felt a lump in my neck. When we got home, got right into to see PCP, and the whole treatment process. We had 4 cruises scheduled our October, ended up having to cancel the first week. we are now on what would have been the fourth week.

Basically 7 days after the last the last radiation it started to improve, After an additional week, the oncologist said we should be good to go without using the feeding tube, And that worked. We are on our 3rd cruise, and I still have am doing well, still have saliva issues, often have to drink a lot of liquids with dryer foods. Taste not completely returned yet, but improving.

One last note. As I often do, one night I order the optional chops steak for dinner, and have always enjoyed it very much. What I ended up getting was about 1/2 the size of what I was expecting, based on previous experience. When I got the receipt, my tip was far smaller than I would normally give, $1. I think the waiter scratched out the tip. Maybe he thought it was an insult. If he did, he assumed correctly, that was my intention.

Everyone one have a safe trip home. We get one more week, this week eastern again, same as this week, with the order of ports reversed. While this captain did his best to avoid the remnants of Tammy, I am glad we are not the western itinerary, he (the captain, does multiple time changes to be on local time in port. When I get home next Saturday, I have 2 Dr appts on Monday, one to get my feeding tube removed. The other is to the oncologist for bloodwork.

@Sea Dog It was great getting to meet you and your lovely wife in the D lounge last night. Having CC friends will always be a favorite life's memory, and cruising has afforded us a lot of those. Even more special, with what life has thrown my way since my last cruise, also on Adventure in May, is actually cruising again and recovering from the throat cancer. This was a year with no summer, all of this time spent receiving the chemo and radiation treatment (5 days a week, for 35 sessions). I still will need testing to determine whether the cure is complete. Meanwhile, hurricane Tammy is kicking up the ocean, and we are getting a rocky ride that started shortly after leaving Tortola. Interesting to see what the rest of the voyage is like.

For those curious about Coco Cay, https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/IBERRY34 The rain report never worked, but wind and temp might be OK. -
What has been happening lately , if you have mobility issues, they tend to attempt to place you at a table that has easy access, which they have been doing for me with my rollator. Seadog doesn't use one, so they did not know. If i had opted for traditional dining, heaven only knows where in the maze I would get seated. Only recently have they started seating us in a more access able location.

Typically, libraries on this class of ship have been known to have better wifi connections. Most had computer labs located in the area around the aft elevators and you could count on. The connection in our room (6370) has been great and I have been watching youtube videos any time I want. That has been rare.

I am on Adventure and when I asked for a towel, as soon as she saw my gold Pinnacle card she just waved me away , did not need to see it. -
