  1. I know we will and we will still cruise with Regent…but can’t pass up a Galveston cruise on a new ship as we have been taking our now adult grandkids on Carnival and really want something new!
  2. Thank you so much for your reply. Nice to know about the lobster and the room service. One more question…since we are not drinkers (alcohol and soda), I didn’t take the free at sea drink package for us. Seemed like a waste of $29 x 2 a day. Did do the rest of the FAS package though. Is the fresh OJ still no charge for the Haven breakfast?
  3. We are new to the NCL , haven’t been on NCL since 1999, mostly Regent now…but with the new ship….will be on the Prima this spring in a Haven penthouse. Couple of questions for the Haven Restaurant….. is the fresh OJ free or an extra charge? What about a side of lobster trail on a dish? Is there still an extra service change/tax always added to room service for the Haven order like on the rest of the ship or is it included. And one off topic laundry question…will be on a back to back 7 days and 11 days. Will there be any laundry bag specials or is it only done as a piece by piece charge. Thanks for the pictures and all the comments very helpful, and also for any answers?
  4. I use too, but i can’t climb the ladder anymore…that last step to the pool deck is a no go…need a crane or steps now😂.
  5. If you are stopping in Roatan I highly recommend the Dolphin trip at that port. It s held at a beautiful resort surrounded by small islands that ring a cove where the dolphins are. They are free to leave but most stay because of the food. The groups are small… singles or couple who each have their own handler…we had 6 handlers and 11 people with us. You bus to the resort and then take a small boat to one of the islands . It is set up with a changing area. Then you go with your guide to the beach and into the water. The dolphins come to the guide and you can interact with them. Our dolphin had a baby she watched like a hawk. The beach and water are pristine and the area is huge. No guilt trip here just a great learning experience.
  6. Loving your report and pictures. We had planned tp do this WC but health issue got in the way. So am really enjoying this thread. We are planning to trying again in ‘25 to celebrate 60 years of wedded bliss🤣.
  7. Really enjoyed your posts. Your pictures were great, Thanks for taking time to keep us up to date. Where are you going on your next cruise?
  8. Yes there are various crafting classes held on most sea days on all cruises. They usually do fun things with all supplies provided same for needlepoint. Sorry I was thinking painting classes for some reason. I was told by the CD they did not do painting classes because of space needled and mess created, but that was some time ago.
  9. Not on any cruise I have done…. 200+days…including Grand voyages and WC. Have seen small groups get together on their own for painting sessions in one of the lounges on long cruises.
  10. I love this idea and wish they had started it earlier.
  11. Last Christmas nothing but a small bud vase. You know you will have to carry it in when you are seated as there is no reserving tables. The two tops are very small as are the other tables for 4 or 6. Not much room for anything but needed dishes.
  12. It is! Why start your wonderful cruise standing in line for a seat on a bus. Leave for the ship when you want to.
  13. Enjoyed your reports and wonderful pictures. We were in the Splendor this time last year and enjoyed the ship. We will be on the Mariner next year and really looking forward to returning to that ship. The new ships are beautiful, but we like the lay out of the Mariner much better. Hope you enjoy your next cruise.
  14. I would ask about that as before the system change husband upgraded and I didn’t, we could still log in on our own account at the same time in 2 computers. The old system upgrade was not worth the cost.
  15. There was some cocktail wear on the Navigator on Christmas Day and NYs , but many people still wore the Country club casual…..nice shirt and slacks like my husband and I wore a velvet skirt with silk top. I was lmiddle the road dress. We were on the Splendor just before the.Christmas cruise and it was the same. Just wear what you enjoy for the holidays. Don’t worry about anyone else.
  16. Really nothing special about the menu and if you do miss something in the CR that you want just order it for another night. People tend to dress a little more in the specialities on any night.
  17. Interesting, we did have to ask ahead of time, but I had wheelchair service from our cabin to the gangway on both the Splendor and the Navigator in our almost BtoB.cruises in Dec and Jan. Our next 2 cruises are on the Mariner RT Miami so I will have our TA check with Regent before final payment.
  18. I asked in Jan and the answer was no. But since guess you can try but people are told no use room service.
  19. As I said earlier in this thread, in Jan this year I had a wheelchair from my cabin to the end of the gangway provided by Regent as per my request at the front deck a few days before disembarkation in Miami . Then I was met by a wheelchair from the port to take me though the terminal. You do have to ask though. This is the way it has been in all ports for us.
  20. Definitely…. It seems like there have been to many not so wonderful comments about the other two newer ships recently. We have a TA booked on the Grandor in ‘25 so a long time to wait for our trun.
  21. I would agree with your statement until we were on one of the new ships. We have been sailing with Regent for 12 years. That has always been our experience on the older ships….great food service and staff! However, on the Splendor for the first time on one of the new ships in Dec, sure it is a beautiful shinny new ship, but the food and service was below par. I can definitely do without all the special dinning venues if the main dinning room food choices and service suffers and it definitely did in Dec. The specialities were crowded and noisy and hard to get a table past the first tine. The food was over done, service slow. All the money spent on fine art and glitter does not mean a thing to us if the staff is short handed which seemed to be the case. Are they having to cut staff to pay for all the glitter and shinny makes one wonder….? Two days later after boarding the Navigator we found the Regent we know and love. Attentive staff, many food choices in the CR that were only served in the speciality venues on the Splendor and food of good quality.
  22. They did when I was arranging for the wheelchair to get off the ship. In Miami there were 2-3 chairs and drivers waiting to take people the rest of the way. Or you waited for one to come back. Tedious but it is what it is. Other ports we have requested service fromthe port people.
  23. I have sailed with Regent for years and use a wheelchair on and off the ship to the taxi stand. Some ports will not allow Regent staff to move a wheelchair guest though the Port Terminal. We were in Miami in Jan twice and I had to change wheelchairs and drivers at the gangway. This is not Regent’s fault! It is Dock workers union doing this….just like having to use local tenders or taxis having to wait out side of the port gate. Happens in many ports around the would.
  24. My son works for a Japanese company and it in Japan regularly now and many things have changed. Mainly Google maps and translate!! The first time we were there 2005, we were doing a Beijing to Bangkok cruise. It was our first trip overseas not to Europe. We had an over night port stop in Osaka and was pouring down rain when we got off the ship. We were going to Kyoto on the train for the night. No credit card taxi, the port ATM was not working and the little shop outside the port was not open that had an ATM. We had to walk to a subway entrance where there was anATM. By then we were really cranky and very wet. We somehow got ourselves to the train station and Kyoto. It was an experience, but we had so much fun we have been back twice for a week at a time pre or post cruise. We have never done a ship’s tour just own our on or with car and driver for a day. But since then we always get some local money ahead of time!
  25. For what we pay to cruise with Regent, after some bad experiences it is worth having local cash in hand when we get off the ship. He doesn’t like to have to look for a cash machine in somewhere open and that is working. After couple of bad experiences, he likes his port days stress 😀free. This is a case of to each his own.
