  1. This is exactly what I find so helpful in those PDFs. As you and GO Army point out in your posts, Regent provides fairly detailed information on its tours, especially one that might be a problem for some.…only you can determine if you can do the steps, the walking or standing. I fail to understand why anyone would expect the mainland/home office for Regent or NCL holding company to have staff to help passengers in this area. They provide written material and ship staff for this propose.
  2. Do you really expect for Regent to have land based staff in Miami (or NCL for that matter) who are able to help the thousands of passengers with the hundreds of tours Regent has available in ports on six continents that their six ships visit? as pointed out above, they provide good descriptions (with an occasional hiccups) in the pages of written material about the tours available on each cruise. Also there is the ship’s staff once on board to offer more detailed help. Hopefully you are using a good TA that is knowledgeable about cruising that can help. After all Regent pays them a hefty commission to provide that service to you.
  3. We have a good TA that deals with the Regent home office if needed, but I find the on board DD can answer any questions I might have about a tour and my situation. At times they have even called the operator to check for me. More recently more tours have changed from the precruise information or been canceled all together once we boarded. Things are very unsettled right now….we need to all go with the flow more than ever. We loved the little sister’s of years ago and the newer ships are very nice, but Regent really suits us especially the older ships.. We have visited your wonderful country for extended land trips twice and cruised there twice. There are some of our best travel memories!!
  4. If a person doesn’t read the full description including pull down boxes how is that Regent’s problem or fault. Why would Regent be expected to have someone in Miami or the UK to read the description to customer! The descriptions are usually fairly good. Including the time on the bus to get to the site which is a common complaint.People must read right over that sentence. We love Japan but there is a lot of walking at the sites and lots of steps. Sometimes the bus must park far from the actual site. We love Japan and most of Asia but the last time we were there we used a private car or a taxi if we wanted more than a bus drive by. The seated man is a tour best to the walking impaired…usually a bus tour or maybe a trolley are a boat ride. One man sometimes is easy on walking/standing and many times it is optional to get off the bus and says so. I can sometimes do the 2 man tours they involve a ATV or even a jeep if it is for two/vehicle. DH drives and helps me in and I stay put for the tour. We have done fun tours like that in Caribbean and Africa. Tasting/food tours are usually OK too. The problem with the tours is they can use all types of buses, vans and converted trucks depending on how 1st world the country/port is. Mostly only the bigger long distant buses have wheelchair storage room. Regent has to go with what is available in each port. Read the whole thing on the included tours on the Regent website/mailer including fine print on the back page at bottom. Tours are included in most ports but you are not guaranteed a tour for everyone in every port.
  5. If you can step over and into a Zodica or go on a truffle hunt which sounds like a walking tour, you should be able to read and determine for yourself if you can do the walking required by a Regent given tour, the possible problems are spelled out. After all only you know what your ability is. No one can reasonably be expected to make that choice for you. I have never in 11 years seen description that did not tell the amount of walking in a closer range than 1.5-3 hrs. Many say you can stay on the bus if you don’t to want to walk. They usually are specific as to number of steps and time and conditions of the walking. I have been cruising with Regent since they started the included tours, 15 years ago we did diving and hiking tours, now much easier ones! Based on my experience with Regent, most all tours are basically good to very good even the free ones, they are as described either precruise or a newer description of the tour once on the ship. Sometimes things change and tours change or are canceled in the year since they were put out. That is life! As a disabled traveler now, I do think your expectations unrealistic especially in this current service poor travel sector. The price we pay to sail with Regent involves so much more the free tours…..it is whole cruise experience especially the wonderful crew and beautiful ships not to mention good food!. Fortunately we all have good choices, if one line doesn’t suit go with another.
  6. Regent tour descriptions (sent out precruise are fairly detailed as to steps, time on bus, stops, ground surfaces and wheelchair access). You must read all parts including the pull down screen for each tour. Once on board the staff will give more help if you ask.I have not had any problem finding tours I can do, and I use canes or a walker. We also have cruised with Seabourn and SS and I was not impressed with their tour offerings. I find Regents suits me better.
  7. Not that I remember. But there is always plenty of seafood on the menus.
  8. We have been to Aruba and Caracas many times most recently Dec 2022 on the Navigator. Aruba - we are aged out drivers so when we could no longer dive we rented a car explored the inland on our own…was fun stopped for a swim at a nice beach; did an Regent island tour…not bad; the Regent submarine ride was good. ( we have found that tour to be fun where ever it was offered around the world even for former divers.) Sometimes we see more than others (depends on sea conditions that day) but we always see something of interest. Bonaire - first time there coming in April (not on Regent) and have rented a golf cart from a vender near the dock for the day $50, they provide a map to guide you and have an on line video to watch about the tour…not a big island and you can see it all easily in the 9-5 time frame with time for a swim if you want. Caracas - did an island tour OK; rented a car and drove around the island…fun. Walked around town on our own ate on the waterfront and last time did Regents trolly tour which was really interesting and learned a lot about the downtown area.
  9. Agree these are tops…allong with a helicopter glacier landing. We have done the cruise 6 times…tried most of the tours now just walk around the villages and get some fresh seafood….maybe do a whale watching trip or visit one of the wildlife refuges. It is a great cruise just go prepared for rain. Alaska has a lot.
  10. My husband wears them all the time. Has worn them recently on Navigator and Splendor. He only takes two pair of shoes both rubber sole with leather type tops, one brown mostly for daytime wear and one black for evening. no problem1
  11. I am really enjoying your report and pictures. We did the glass bottom boat also when we were there. Agree, It was surprising good!
  12. Loving your report and all the pictures. We will board the Prima Same grade suite as yours which looks lovely March 29 for a b2b to Miami. Have not done a NCL ship since the 1990’s when they were sailing out of Barbar’s Cut on the Houston ship channel. We are excited to try a beautiful new ship….we take our kids and Grands on Carnival and RCL as the whole family can drive. Definitely want to support a new ship/line porting in Galveston. Our choice lines for many years have been Regent and Cunard but they rarely have cruises that are round trip US ports and never Galveston. We don’t fly long hauls anymore. Sorry about your fall, hope it doesn’t slow you down. If you go ashore could you report back on what is the port area for Costa Maya like? Any place to eat or a market etc. We were there on RSS Navigator 15 months ago, but didn’t get off the ship. I would like to try this time…maybe . Thanks…loving your report…..
  13. We also found after being on the Navigator after being on the Splendor, the lunch menus in the speciality venues on Splendor and the Compass Rose on the Navigator were very similar except for the desserts. One of my favorite lunch dishes is the Leek quiche that I have had many many times on the Navigator. It was on the Prime 7 lunch menu on the Splendor. There were several other dishes severed at lunch in both speciality venues that were on the regular Compass Rose lunch menu. We usually eat lunch in the Compass Rose because we avoid buffets if at all possible and don’t eat outside when it is warm or humid. Really think they are serving the nearly the same food for lunch be it a speciality venue or the Compass Rose on the older ships. At least that was our experience on a BtoB on the Splendor and the Navigator.
  14. You are right about the 30th. That is the only themed dress night I have seen on our 250 days on Regent. There have been some fun dress up days, Easter bonnets on Easter, but Regent has supplied stuff for you to make the bonnet, if you want to participate.. A lot of ladies like me usually pack something black and Pearls to dress up a bit if in the mood. So I wore my black and pearls that night. But like always on Regent the minimum evening dress code is always acceptable. No big deal.
  15. Same here. Can’t imagine missing part/all my luggage…. Years ago when you dressed to fly, we took our 3 kids and 4 suitcases skiing for a week (Tx to Vt). Two cases, kids street clothes and our ski clothes arrived in Boston with us on Sat! The other 2, kids ski clothes and our regular clothes arrived in some little airport in Vt on Thurs afternoon. We left on Sat! What a nightmare! Since then we carry on 2/3 days worth of clothes and cross pack any cases we check! Crusin7, Hope you see your DH cases in SD! I am really enjoying your pictures. They are beautiful and really tell the story! Carolyn
  16. The free tours have been talked about many times. Read the fine print on the Regent contract and most ads, at least the ones I bother to read. Free tours at every port for everyone are NOT guaranteed on a Regent cruise. We have been to ports that didn’t have any tours offered period, ones where there was one maybe two school bus type busses only available for transportation .. no A/C. And now with ships with 1000’a of people competing with Regent for tours in popular destinations, just not enough transportation/guides to serve all the passengers on all the ships. . Yes Regent offers tours at no cost but it does not guarantee a free tour in every port for everyone. But long time Regent cruisers will tell you that by the port day, if you want to take a Regent tour there will be one available. In 250+ days we have had one port that we couldn’t get a tour of our choice, but there were still tours that opened up. In this uncertain travel time read the fine print about all included extras and read the TandC before you put money down and/or make final payment. We cancelled a cruise through the Suez about 10 or so years ago and did a land trip to India since we had already bought air fare. We are canceling the Amazon trip inNov because we will not mess with the Brazil Visa mess. if you don’t want to “mess around to get a free tour” there are other “luxury lines” that don’t include free tours. That is just a Regent thing.
  17. Not much of a fan of duck, but agree with Gewürztraminer wine. It is one of DH’s favorite and absolutely my favorite. Wish we would see it more on Regent.
  18. Check after final payment is due . There might be a few that free up. If not , check when you board as again there might be no shows. If there is something that you really want to do go to the theater the morning of the tour to check on no shows. But anymore we just do our own thing when we want too. These are small ports but sometimes we are surprised at what the locals have to offer. Greenland is beautiful and we had fun just walking around on our own….be sure to go to food market… grocery store and see what is for sale.
  19. Where do you find the place to make dinning reservations, I can only find the place to buy extra dinnin, drink packages, etc. Thanks
  20. The wetlands tour is very interesting, worth the time. Personally we don’t like the staged performance type of ships tours.
  21. Actually I am surprised that anyone is bothered by this policy. It has been in effect on Regent for a long time. It does offend us, in fact, we never even thought about it. We are way too busy enjoying what Regent offers.
  22. We have had a few seas like that when in the pool but before they closed the pool…….dh loved it me not so much. They are much more proactive now with possible rough seas.
  23. You had a beautiful transit yesterday and looks a nice day today in the Pacific. Thanks for the pictures, they are lovely. The Canal is one of our favorite cruises….we have done it 7 times, once on the Mariner which is the perfect ship for that transit. The wine tasting looks wonderful! Thanks for taking us along.
