  1. ok. Glen Roy. Dog's name may be Rob? We did some steam train tours in this area in 2018 including the Hogwarts Express from Fort William to Mallaig. Another went to Strathspey (Aviemore). Stayed in Ballacuilish, south of Fort William. Our 6' x 3' scottish estate is nearby at Glencoe. I am officially a Laird.
  2. Curiosity got the better of me and I found this. Cute eh?
  3. In China mask wearing was common. In China and other Asian cities mask wearing was mainly due to pollution. At that time the pollution was so bad in Xian we chose to stay in our hotel instead of going out. We did not see blue skies for the 10 or so days we were there. I was in China during the SARS outbreak and we were given masks to wear on the plane home and were temperature checked on arrival.
  4. My initial thought was Snowdonia but it didn't quite fit. I can't see Ben Nevis so I'm a bit stumped.
  5. I recall some mask wearing happening as early as Feb 1 which is when we checked into a hotel in Auckland prior to our HAL cruise to SYD. We were at the check in counter when some people of Chinese appearance arrived in the lobby to check in. The girl on the desk immediately grabbed a mask from under the desk and put it on. When they left the lobby the girl took her mask off and replaced it under the desk. As it turned out these guests were American Chinese with USA passports. Their accents were totally American. People were nervous, cruise corporations not so much.
  6. Yes it is the Garonne near a village called Hure. Your turn Linda.
  7. Time for a hint. It has been mentioned in this forum sometime in 2022.
  8. Thanks. A true guess. I have never been there but I just used my imagination and asked myself "where do icebergs come from" and, Titanic and Greenland immediately popped into my head.
  9. It's one I have done and can recommend it. And, it should not be too cold a winter in the south.
  10. Sorry Lyle, I don't remember the ferry name. It was a two night stay in Victoria after a road/rail tour from Calgary before boarding Celebrity Solstice Sep 2015. Does this help?
  11. Initially I had the same problem until I asked a friend, with excellent hearing. It then made sense. However, would he have done the same if she was not his daughter?
  12. Have you considered a river cruise? American Queen have a 8 day, 7 port return cruise on the Mississippi comencing Dec17. AUD4895.
  13. "Made tha day"?? I believe she said "Love you dad".
  14. I like cryptic crosswords. I have been past there twice, once by ferry and once by ship.
  15. I have no problems understanding Americans and occasionally can identify regional accents. But, in New Zealand, I sometimes feel I need an interpreter. My late wife used to help me out with that.
  16. It sounds wonderful and a great itinerary, packing a lot in to get more of a feel for the place than just dropping in at ports. BTW I loved the aquarium in Cairns, was there last January on a HAL cruise. Darwin is hot, I've been there several times, but the heat and humidity does not bother me as it does some. Over 30C/86F almost every day of the year. Thanks for the update.
  17. Doha is correct. It is a view from the promenade near the Museum of Islamic Art. Your turn Lyle.
