  1. Send them your most recent stock ownership statement as an attachment to an e-mail, Black out your brokerage account #. Also include the booking #, sail date, ship’s name and list of passengers in the stateroom, On our last cruise we got back the stock ownership credit confirmation within 3-4 days of submission.
  2. If you stay on the Island both Harbor House and the Tremont are within walking distance of the pier if you are reasonably ambutory.
  3. There is plenty to do on the Vista class ships. There is a micro brewery on board as part of the Red Frog Pub, a bike that you can pedal around the top perimeter of the ship, etc, etc.
  4. Anything on the island will be more expensive than those off the island. Texas City and LaMarque are only about 25 minutes from the pier and have a # of chain hotels along I-45.
  5. The ones along Seawall Blvd are certainly not within walking distance. They would require a taxi, Uber or a shuttle to the cruise terminals.
  6. I will be 75 years young in just a few days, native Texan. I can remember when the Gulf Freeway was not I-45 South, just a 4 lane Hwy (US-75) from Houston to Galveston, I can NEVER remember when that hihway was not under construction.
  7. We have parked at Lot C (33rd and Harborside) and never waited more than 5 minutes for a shuttle back to the terminal.
  8. Don’t know how far away either of them is from the cruise terminal(s). The hotel closest to the cruise terminal is Harbour House and then the Tremont House (listed on the National Register of Historic Places). Along Seawall Blvd are the San Luis, the Hotel Galvez and a # of other options. Uber recemtly signed an agreement with the Port of Galveston to allow them to do drop offs at the terminal. So that is a viable transportation option.
  9. Just North of IAH is the city of Humble. It has a # of pretty good restaurants including pappa’s Seafood House, Papacita’s Mexican and Papa’s Bar-b-Que. For moreu-scale dining check out Chez Nou.
  10. Agree with Texas Tillie, I’m 74 years old and can remember when the Gulf Freeway was US 75, 2 lanes each way. When it became I-45 it’s been under construction ever since.
  11. As noted above the Java Blur cafe is on deck 5 amidship. The coffee they serve there is light years better than what you’ll find anywhere else. If you have the cheers package it’s included.
  12. If you are far enough away from the main pool area the noise shoudn’t be an issue. Check the deck plan map to see what’s above/below you and what is a deck or two below your balcony.
  13. There is a wal-mart on 61st street, just North of Seawall Blvd.
  14. If you buy 100 shares and hold onto it it doesn’t matter whether the stock price goes up/down you will still get the $100 OBC each time you cruise. We bought 100 shares at a really good price awhile ago and have gotten the OBC so many times that in the next couple of cruises the total OBCs will exceed what we originally paid for the stock. Anything after that is gravy!
  15. If you bank with one of the major banks they usually have a brokerage firm that can assist you with the trade or, as others advised, you can use any of the private firms. We bought 100 shares several years ago at a really low price and have received the $100 OBC for all our cruises since then. Applying for the credit is easy—send them a copy of your most recent brokerage statement with your account # blacked out along with your booking #, sail date and the name of the ship. Make sure the names on the brokerage statement match the names on the booking. Easy peezy!
  16. We stayed in a spa balcony on the 14th deck several years ago. The only real issue was that there are only two elevators that serve that portion of the front of the ship and one of them was not working for much of the cruise. We just walked down the stairs to deck 12, there were full banks of elevators there.
  17. We are on the Vista now (2/18). We just left Cozumel with a 2:30 back on board time. We actually departed around 3:15 which means we will be sailing ~ 40 hours to arrive in Galveston at 7:00 Saturday morning. That seems like a long time to me! Current speed shows to be ~ 19 knots.
  18. It will be either Terminal #1 or #2. The newTerminal, #10 is for RCL exclusively.
  19. Unless you have FTTF or are a Suite, Dismond or Platinum on Carnival your room is not going to be available till aroind 1:30 We try for a ~12:30 check in which tends to be uncrowded and gets us on the ship in time for a light lunch, then on to the room. Spares all the crowds, crying kids, angry Wives and Hubbies, etc.
  20. I E-Mailed the info and got approved within 48 hours for our upcoming Vista cruise.
  21. Uber or Lyft should be an option, There are a # of major hotel chains around Texas City. Most of them are on the Nortbound side of I-45. Enjoy your cruise!
