The OP is used to American levels of service, as found on Princess, Celebrity etc, where drinks are routinely served to your table in the buffet. P&O are very poor in this regard.
For one mug, possibly, but not if you want to boil enough water for a teapot.
And the water has to be boiling hot - not that easy getting a container full of boiling hot water out of a microwave.

If a member of staff goes over and above during the cruise, then yes, I will show my appreciation. Otherwise, my Euros stay in the safe.

AFAIK coaches don't have an allotted time as such. They leave their various departure points with the expectation that they will arrive early afternoon. It is a little unrealistic to expect a coach coming from Glasgiw to hit a precise arrival time.
