  1. Your question has been answered. You have to register with the Defence Discount service.
  2. Unexpected surprise tonight. Stumbled across Stereophonics live from Cardiff on BBC 2. Great concert, although I think the songs from their early days were better. (And have the cds !) As an aside, how is it possible that Kelly Jones, at 48, does not have a single wrinkle ?
  3. Fair point. However, if adding for another person, it is important to know their embarrassment level !
  4. Me too. Far more important things to worry about - like why are my roses so awful this year !
  5. All I can say is that all of the supermarkets in our area are desperately short of staff, and all have full time vacancies. If you want to work part time, fine, but that would be a personal choice. And as to overtime not being available - again, around here the supermarkets are begging people to work overtime. It is important to realise that what was the case even 10 years ago, is not the case now, so quoting what things were like then is irrelevant.
  6. But can you actually squeeze a second chair into an inside cabin ?
  7. And a rights issue woukd adversely affect the value of the existing shares out there, which would seriously displease the major share holders.
  8. It depends when you are sailing. As the packages have to be bought in advance, if you are sailing shortly after June 25th, you do not have the option of waiting. Personally, I cannot see Princess suddenly increasing drink prices across the board at the end of June. It would be far too obvious. However, prices may gradually rise over the course of the next 18 months, which may then make the basic PP look less attractive.
  9. Just to add, that I dont disagree with what you say, per se. But if you double the wages of the chef, increase the wages of the wait staff by 50%, the end result will be that the menu prices will increase so much that no one will eat in that particular restaurant. So, yes, increase wages as much as you like, but there will be a concomitant consequence.
  10. We drink the cheap wine when by the pool, as there is no alternative. As soon as we get to an indoor bar, we switch to the $10-$12 wine. I think that what many of of us are trying to say to Susie is that whatever package you have, you cannot get every wine in every bar.
  11. I do sometimes wonder if Americans realise how stupid their ESTA application form is, in this day and age ? Probably not, as they, obviously, will never have needed to fill one in, and don't realise the stupidity of the questions asked.
  12. OK, so everybody should earn £50k a year. Prices of everything would increase, taxes would treble, and in the end there would be no difference. There would still be rich and poor. Unfortunately some people will earn more than others. Us cruisers on here are in a privileged position, but we are the minority. People do exist on "low" wages, and they manage their budgets accordingly.
  13. Hopefully, the EU questionnaire will, unlike the US equivalent, not ask me if I have ever been a member of the Communist Party!

Sorry, I was talking about herring bone configuration in general. BA Club specifically, is notorious for having to climb over other pax in Club, due to many of the window and central seats having no direct aisle access.
  15. I suppose it is all relative. But an untrained worker in Lidl, Tesco, Aldi etc, will earn over £10 an hour, plus overtime, 20% discount on purchases, and paid holidays. So, around £30k a year. Is that a good wage? The average store worker will end up earning more than a nurse. Is that good, or right ? I don't know, but what is clear is that at present, it is a a job seekers market.
  16. All you will get is a personalised message on the screens when you approach, and possibly a chocolate cake in the MDR. The worst case scenario is that assorted waiters will sing Happy Birthday. I would avoid adding it to your booking.
  17. And, depending on the rules at the time, if you don't finish the bottle (I'm told this sometimes happens!) you then have to carry the unfinished bottle to a bar or your cabin.
  18. You can certainly do that now. Shop staff, for example, are in short supply, and the hourly rate, whilst not as good as Vamp's, are pretty good, especially when you take the staff discount into account.

The only real problem is that in flat bed mode, depending on the cabin configuration, you have to climb over the legs of the passenger next to you.
  20. A couple of cruise lines, Saga and P&O always offer the lowest prices at launch. Indeed, P&O have some great deals if you book on launch day. Princess, on the other hand, often have excellent offers six months or so from sail date, and I have twice re-fared via my TA, when the promotional prices were less that the fares I had booked.
  21. I agree that it does appear like that, to a certain extent. Totally your decision (and your money!) and if you prefer to drink the more expensive wines, spirits, it makes absolute sense. However, I think that what many if us were trying to do, is to try and temper your expectations. The number of wines over $12 per glass is limited, and are not normally available to order through the Medallion. So it may well be that you or your partner will have to go to whichever bar stocks your preferred choice, and order it there. We certainly did that on Regal last month for our favourite wine, which was only available in Vines. We also used to take a glass of the wine into the club dining room with us. Not a hardship, but worth knowing. (As an aside, as a suite passenger you will have club class dining - we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much so that we cancelled some of our speciality restaurant reservations) I am sure you will enjoy your cruise. Hopefully you will come back and report !
  22. Once you get to July the number of children onboard start to increase dramatically !
  23. Pleased to report that my Puma has been delivered and has auto folding mirrors. Perhaps Ford bought more washing machines than Renault !
