  1. We saw two in Jan when we were in PC just after our Wonder b2b. As for the garage, our friends who live on Merritt Island dropped us off at the terminal and kept our car at their house and then picked us up so I don't know how they handled it then.
  2. In the Centrum on ships don't have a promenade. Also, sometimes just outside the WJ.
  3. We've had passports for decades. More than worth the cost.
  4. I didn't say they wouldn't give any help but the cruise line is under no obligation to do so. There have been posts by people who did miss their ship and while they got some help sometimes, it was on them to figure out their visa/passport issues. The cruise line can't apply for an emergency passport, only the traveler can. Either way, it's not the same as someone whose cruise is interrupted due to a death in the family. When someone misses the ship, that's usually on them. Ships can and do leave people standing on the pier. If they were really obligated, they could pull back in and pick them up, but they don't. Anyway, my real point was that you get a lot more help when it's an emergency situation than when it's a stupidity one.
  5. Those posts are sometimes about people who miss the ship which is a whole other thing. The cruise line is under no obligation to get you home if you get back too late to make ship's movement.
  6. Our supplemental is Tricare. It costs my husband ZERO and me $25/month. DH pays the max amount for Medicare every month, but it's not that expensive. So, more than worth it to have it and then buy travel insurance. You don't have to be prone to illness or injury to have something happen. Everyone should be concerned. Freak accidents and surprise illnesses do happen all the time. It's not fear to buy insurance. It's about being prepared for something you can't control.
  7. A lot of cruisers (especially most that end up with medical issues and evacuations) are on Medicare which as far as I know does not cover you out of the country. I only currently have Tricare as I'm not 65 yet while DH has Medicare and Tricare for life since he is over 65. Most medical insurance does not cover outside of the country (private or Gov provided). Besides having Allianz, we have credit cards that have pretty high limits and access to cash as needed. Not everyone does.
  8. What time were there no chairs available? I can't really do sand well (knee) so we tend to hang by pools or where the sand is firm. We'll be there on Vision with Liberty in April so less people overall.
  9. It's actually both depending on how you use it.
  10. What you get is 2-24 hour periods of free internet. We spread ours out and sometimes I'll use mine (we share the time online) and then we'll use DH's towards purchasing a package for the rest of the cruise. It's consecutive 24 hours. I remember the old days when you could buy 60 minutes and spread it out over as long as you wanted.
  11. I never said that wasn't true, what I said was that unless you plan to be in your cabin 24 hours a day, you need to be prepared so you can actually enjoy your cruise.
  12. Most people shower and sleep in their cabins, but the majority of the day, most are out and about. We're in our 60's and I'd say we spend at least 2/3 of our day out of the cabin. The point though is if you are out and about at locations throughout the ship and feel sick, how much fun is that? Both times I've been seasick I've been out doing normal cruise things like eating or at a show or in a lounge. We've always had higher deck cabins because we book JS and sometimes they are not in the center.
  13. We'll be there in April on Vision along with Freedom. We're both due in at 7 am. Our experience from past visits where we go to the pool is that getting off by 930, we have our choice of seats so I'm assuming the same for Hideaway. By 1130-12, the late sleepers always appear and seem surprised they can't find seats exactly where they want or in a group lol. We paid less than $40 pp so worth trying it out for us.
  14. But, who stays in their cabin 24 hours a day?
  15. Yes, it makes a difference. The standalone Starbucks on certain ships are not included as they are licensed SB locations. You can also use SB gift cards and the app at these locations but you cannot redeem stars onboard.
  16. The O class is still a lot smaller than the ocean. Anyone can get sick on any size ship. Some are more prone than others, but even the most seasoned sailors can find a particular motion that does them in. My DH is a retired US Navy Captain and believe me, he's seen people get sick who never have before because of a particular sea motion.
  17. You should take them before you get sick. But, the best tip I can give anyone who has the drowsiness side effect is to just take it before bed. Start the night before the cruise and then every 24 hours. I have zero side effects from meclizine. I can drink and it doesn't make me drowsy.
  18. It's possible to get seasick on any cruise. I pre-medicate with meclizine and take it everyday regardless of ship size or seas. We were on Wonder in Jan for a b2b. First week was smooth, second was not but it wasn't the worst I've been in. I was fine, but there were people who were seasick. Never, ever assume you can't or won't get seasick. Everyone has their motion.
  19. We have bought annual Allianz policies the last two years. Prior to that we bought Royal's insurance. But, that is because we either drive or take Amtrak so we don't need it for the travel to/from port perse. But, we cruise more often now and it's cheaper to buy an annual travel policy than a per cruise one. As we're in our 60's (started cruising in our 40's) we wanted to be sure we had good evacuation coverage.
  20. This. I broke my fibula (near the ankle) a few years ago near our home. I was taken by ambulance to our hospital ER. I was given pain meds (both by the EMT's and later in the ER), x-rayed, dislocated ankle and kneecap put back into place (thank God for Propofol) and sent home in a split. I then saw the OS three days later and had surgery (titanium plate that I still have) a week after that because he wanted the swelling to go down because it lessens the risk of infection. No idea what the bill was because it was 100% covered through primary and secondary insurance, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap. We have never cruised without insurance and were reimbursed for the cruise we were supposed to go on two months after my injury because we cancelled. Anyone who has had Royal pack up their room aren't asked permission and as you said, it's done under supervision of security. It's actually nice that they do it as it's one less thing for the guest to worry about. As someone who has been splinted, this man would not have wanted to get back on the ship and deal with all the issues that come along with a break like that.
  21. I just tried to go to the page, not even logged in yet and I get a bad gateway message. Obviously problem on their end. It'll be back. Glad the app is working as we checked in this morning for our April 4 cruise.
  22. Someone on a three night "bender" cruise is going to have a different experience than a typical longer cruise. It's going to be a younger, more partying crowd.
