  1. Not a guest pier runner, but a crew member coming back to the ship drunk. We were in Cozumel a few years ago (can't remember which ship) and a girl was weaving down the pier with security steering her away from the edge as we were watching from our balcony. She was crew and we found out later from our waiter she had to go see the Captain. Don't know what happened to her but she was late for crew return and really drunk.
  2. Not that we've ever been anywhere near late getting back, I would not be a pier "runner". More like a "limper" with my knee.
  3. Read the email I posted that I received. The wording sucks because it says nothing about those two groups. What is posted on RCI is much clearer and includes everyone. The email is very poorly written and completely leaves out what I said. The email should say ALL vaccinated guests are exempt. We all get it, but anyone who is new or doesn't read these boards would be totally confused.
  4. And, this is what the email I got says: U.S. & Canada Departures 9‐Nights or less Below find our updated protocols for U.S and Canada departures that are 9 nights or less — excluding sailings to Bermuda. Should there be any changes, we are committed to keeping you informed. Vaccination Recommended If eligible, we recommend that guests joining us be fully vaccinated and boostered, against COVID‐19. While vaccination is not required, we kindly ask you disclose your status during check-in to ensure we maintain a highly vaccinated onboard population. Testing Pre-cruise Unvaccinated guests aged 12 and older must present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 3 days of our sail date. Fully vaccinated guests and guests ages 11 and younger are exempt from this test. Accepted Tests Guests can take advantage of in-person, telehealth, and self-swab tests. This includes unsupervised testing. Proof of a negative test can be the printed or digital results, a clear photo of your self-test result, or your actual self-test in hand. To learn more about our accepted tests, visit our FAQ.
  5. And, here's what the RCI website says which is much clearer: For Cruises from North America and the Caribbean (U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, and Barbados) Vaccinated guests do not need to take a test for sailings of 9 nights or fewer. On sailings of 10 nights or longer, fully vaccinated guests age 12 and older will need to bring a negative test result for a COVID-19 test within 3 days before boarding day. Guests age 12 and up who are not vaccinated have 3 days to take a test before their cruise, regardless the duration of the cruise. Guests under the age of 12, do not need to take a test prior to cruising. Required testing can be completed using any type of PCR or antigen COVID-19 test. It can be professionally proctored at your doctor or drugstore, or it can be a test you administer to yourself at home without supervision. Tests must be arranged on your own and are at your own expense. Please note: A guest is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the required number of doses in their vaccine series have been fully administered (e.g. 2 shots of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, etc., or 1 shot of Johnson & Johnson). Vaccines must be approved for use by the WHO or U.S. FDA, with the exception of CanSino.
  6. What they don't mention is UNVACCINATED under 12. What they mention is vaccinated under 12. What about guests over 12 who are vaccinated? The wording sucks.
  7. It depends on itinerary. Most cruises out of US have what you posted. TA's and Bermuda cruises have what others have posted. That's where the confusion is. My email says what yours does as we're doing a closed loop out of PC.
  8. I got the same email. It doesn't change anything for us so I didn't really notice the age change. But, this part isn't worded very well: "Unvaccinated guests aged 12 and older must present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 3 days of our sail date. Fully vaccinated guests and guests ages 11 and younger are exempt from this test." What about unvaccinated under 12? It kind of ignores that specific group, although obviously they have to be tested. The wording could be a lot better.
  9. They no longer do the wellness check 24 hours prior to the cruise. Otherwise, all they do is confirm your answers to the questions you answered at online check in.
  10. I think you'll have to let us know because no one here can answer for sure.
  11. Lots of swimsuits so I'm betting sitting at the pool bar in port before they had that "oh s**t" moment.
  12. No, why would they be? We've only really ever seen them in Cozumel and Nassau and not every cruise. We've been to Aruba and Curacao a couple of times and don't remember anyone being late in those ports. Ports like Cozumel and Nassau have bars just close enough to the ship which is why it happens in those ports a lot.
  13. Except for the fact that we've cruised out of PC around 10 times in 17 years and have yet to see a launch. We'll be cruising out on 13 Nov for the second leg of our b2b on Jewel and it was announced today that Artemis is scheduled to launch on 14 Nov, window opens at 1207 am so DH and I plan to stay up as we head towards Nassau and find a place to watch outside (possibly our balcony as we're port side so we'll make a game day decision on that based on our heading). It won't be as close as in PC, but we'll be able to see it.
  14. For ease, Baltimore hands down. It is literally right off I-95 and is easy in, easy out. For actual sail out? I'd say whichever port I'm in because that means we are onboard and going somewhere.
  15. I'm about a 45 min to an hour drive from any base (Quantico, Ft Belvoir. Andrews). DH is retired Navy. I haven't shopped on base in years and now with the cost of fuel, it's just not worth any savings. I had to get my ID renewed in mid 2021 and getting an appointment was a pain. Ft Belvoir had none available so we drove to Ft Myer. Other locations just were only doing them only for anyone stationed there. There's been reports of going to online. They weren't happy that I was about 35 days out instead of the 30 they wanted. Too bad, appointments were hard to find so they did mine anyway.
  16. I remember wine in gallon jugs. The red was always called Burgundy. My parents were part of a book club when I was in my teens and early 20's and they used to have it at their "meetings" Google says Burgundy wine is just Pinot Noir.
  17. I really like Black Box Pinot Grigio. Burgundy is the area in France, not a grape variety. Red variety mostly made there is Pinot Noir and white is Chardonnay.
  18. I check both my husband and myself in. I'm 62 and I laugh everytime at that question. But, I triple check the answers before I submit.
  19. On Harmony last fall, we had to make reservations but as D+ we got into the theater 15 min before everyone else was allowed in (also has reservations). We rarely use any reserved seating as it's not always a place we prefer to sit.
  20. We've only been to the downtown location once. We've been to the Carnival pier location at least 5 times. You get a nice view of the water and ships. It's an easy walk over there.
  21. I'll have to look, but we don't have a Publix and I rarely go to Walmart. I've been the family holiday pie baker for 30+ years. So, usually make 3 or 4 pies for 25 people at Christmas and Thanksgiving.
  22. I remember reading it was built to accommodate 12,000 people, or two Oasis class ships. We were there on Harmony with Independence one time. On Harmony one time alone and on EN with another ship (can't remember which one). All since restart so not full but it never felt that crazy busy. Busiest was on EN and another ship over spring break. EN was 100% capacity so I assume the other ship was too. Get off early and grab the seat you want. The pool gets crowded. Beaches not so bad. We usually hang by the pool so we get off early, grab a shady spot, stay through lunch and then head back on the ship.
