Hey @Cruising Lynne The Bird would like to correct an inaccurate report. The jets in the main pool were not working on my October Prima cruise and were not working yesterday because the pool was closed due to [minor] sea conditions. But today, all 20 of the stations in the big pool were working, shooting out keys of warm water.

Opinions re: included food venues
BirdTravels replied to foodsvcmgr's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
NCL food is ok. NCL continues to innovate and try new things to cater to the contemporary cruise. Those younger cruisers who will sustain the cruise line for the decades to come. Old folks like me complain when our old time favorite leaves. But change is good. Like when chicken noodle soup was replace with pho. Or when fish sticks were replaced with poached salmon. And who can forget the outrage when chicken fingers were replaced with rotisserie chicken. The ship’s executive chefs will tell you that if an item is not selling and most of it goes down the garbage chute at the end of arrive, it will be off the menu on the next update. Despite the white tablecloths, this is not fine dining. Unlike your local restaurant who turns 50 covers a night and can cook to order, MDR food is mass produced to turn 2000+ covers per meal. -
just checked acct and found new coupon?
BirdTravels replied to tokidoki's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
That coupon has been discussed on CC because it comes and goes off accounts. Mine has stuck around for a few weeks, so maybe it is here to stay. -
You have to be an invited guest or qualify on the cruise. Free house drinks come with a Pearl level status,,, which requires $25,000 in slot play.

How do I avoid using Free at Sea dining for a particular meal?
BirdTravels replied to zzdoug's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
It is simple. When you check in, the hostess will ask you how you are paying. Room charge. FAS Specialty Dining Package. Platinum dinner voucher. Other voucher. You can double check when the waiter brings you the bill to sign. -
Are show reservations only done on board
BirdTravels replied to kohanfam's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Yes. Only booking on board at the moment. Make it a priority as soon as you board. For our cruise this week, all of the shows were not loaded into the app and we ended up in the show reservation line. -
Specialty Dining....yea, yea, yea...I know...search
BirdTravels replied to roger001's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Yes. Since the Platinum dinners technically restrict you to 1-1-1, we use one of them at Teppanyaki or Monderno where it is 1. And save the SDP for restaurants where we would order more apps. -
At first, it took the crew almost 2 hours to convert the theater into a night club. Now that conversion takes less than 20 minutes and is part of the show with passengers invited onto the stage to witness the transformation. Every seat in the orchestra section is folded down. Hand rails are folded. And decorative panels installed at the stairs on each level. Once ready, the entire orchestra section is retracted like old high school gym bleachers. Booths are wheeled out along with bars on the dance floor. Then the party begins! Supported by both the cruise director’s team and dancers from Donna Summer dancing to well choreographed numbers, everyone has a great time.

The Prima Theater, home of Donna Summer, Noise Boys (what aren’t all boys), The Price Is Right, and other shows nightly. To minimize crowding, the theater loads from Decks 6 and 7. There are comfy boxes along the sides of Deck 7. And there is a balcony on Deck 8. There are two bars on either side of Deck 6. The large oval lighting rig is lowered when the theater is used at a night club to provide amazing lighting and laser effects.

That is a personal decision. There are two pools filled with warm water (not bubbling or jetted). The larger pool is fresh water. The smaller pool is “salt water”. Not sure what “salt water” means,,, it is not sea water. Maybe diluted sea water. On !A/BA+/Epic class ships, people spend some time in the pool,,, but most of the time using other facilities.
