  1. Did Belize about 10 or so years ago.. day trip to Mayan ruins. On the way back we stopped for lunch and I would say it was the best tasting meal we had on the trip... including the ship.
  2. Actually, you don't want that. My sister ended up being on the 1st Mardi Gras sailing. Granted, this was also coming out of the whole pandemic thing but, they were not on top of their game at the time. That 1st sailing was not even, technically, the inaugural cruise. I think they celebrated that 1 month or so after that sailing. On any new ship there will be bugs that need to be worked out.
  3. I have been on the MG once... did Chibang and Cucina twice. The food was ok but not great. I think we only had an extended wait for Cucina once and that was because we were late making the reservation. As for Pig&Anchor... I would not eat there again. The food did not appeal to us and the service was very, very slow. We did not eat in the MDR at all that week.
  4. On the MG and probably Celebration you need to go to the podium to get put on the list for dinner.. don't know about lunch. You cannot make a reservation through the app.
  5. LIke others have said it is hot and miss on what you are allowed to take on the ship. We did a cruise out of Port Canaveral... there were three of us over 21 in the cabin so we brought on 3 bottles. Two wine and 1 mead. No problems. However... I have heard that sometimes they insist that each person has their own bottle in their own carry on. We had all bottles in the same bag and they never checked the bag to see what was in it. It just went through through the scanner and that was it. What it comes down to is that it is up to the person at the port whether or not something counts as "wine" or something else that would be forbidden.
  6. The self serve machines are by the ounce. Get half a cup, you are charged 4-6oz. I think they do max out at a certain amt... about 12oz or so. I believe even if you purchase on board you still need to buy the soda package for everyone in the same room. I would not recommend using self-serve if you did not have bubbles/cheers. Many of the taps had no syrup or were mis-adjusted (too little syrup).. and this was on embarkation day.
  7. Then you have the other end of the spectrum... a lady flipped out because someone was wearing a cap while dining at Rudy's. Somehow, him wearing a cap was ruining her dinner??? Her antics was kind of interfering with everyone else's dinner although we did have a nice chuckle with the table next to us.
  8. Yes, slot machines are fixed. They are programmed for a set payout rate which is lower than land based casinos.
  9. Yes, there is either a master key or administrator code that will unlock the safe. Many of these hotel safes are also fairly easy to open by other means. Check out the Lock Picking Lawyer on youtube... he has done a few videos on hotel safes.
  10. There will be some on the crew with a master key/administrator code for the safe. That being said... no, the safes are not safe. Look up Lock Picking Lawyer on youtube. He has done a number of videos opening hotel safes. They are not very secure.

  12. Not sure if this was mentioned... how about when the drink of the day came in a real glass. On our last cruise all we saw was those cheap plastic things that get thrown in the back of a cabinet and forgotten.
  13. I am probably going to get Cheers for out next Cruise in Jan 2024. I was looking at the details and the website is showing $20 or lower for drinks All spirits (including cocktails), as well as beer and wine by the glass with a $20.00 or lower menu price How long has this been at $20? I seem to remember $15. Maybe I am confusing the $20 price with the 15 drink limit... who knows... getting old sucks.
  14. Even the new ships have odd seating and columns in the middle of sight lines. One of the comedians made fun of this on the Mardi Gras.
  15. The only thing you would need to sign for is drinks. Even if you have the Cheers/soda package they still bring a receipt for you to sign.
  16. Did both last August. Steakhouse was ok but nothing really special compared to steakhouses at home. Rudi's I would definitely eat at again. I think had the red snapper which was very good.
  17. I would also like to add... we had one of the tastiest meals when we were in Belize. We did a day trip to the ruins which included lunch on the way back. It could have been argued that lunch was as tasty as anything we would have eaten on the ship for lunch.
  18. Shouldn't you be able to link the booking numbers together and then be able to book the steak house for all in your group? I know we did something like this on our August cruise.
  19. Granted I have been on only 2 Carnival cruises but both time debarkation was horrible. We tried waiting for them to call our zone but eventually gave up and just joined the masses and got in line to debark. Even though you are supposed to wait for you zone to be called nobody actually checks. I think as long as you don't go immediately when they start debarkation for priority and self assist they don't really care. Its not like you are going to get the doors and then tell you you cannot get off the ship as you were not called yet. The only chance you take is that your luggage may not yet be staged yet and you need to wait in that area.
  20. One more delay and we will be cancelled. Booked on the 1/13/24 sailing... hopefully they have time to get most of the bugs worked out in the three prior sailings.
  21. We were there in August... at there once and feel we never have to again. Food was average at best and service was very slow. It was out least favorite restaurant by far although we never had dinner in the MDR.
  22. I would expect it will affect quite a few, mostly vacation, travelers. I wouldn't be surprised if a sizeable portion of the population is not even aware of what RealID is let alone any specific deadlines. These would also be the same people who feel that since they never leave the country they do not need a passport. Once RealId is fully implemented I expect to see stories in the news about people being turned away at security because their ID is no longer good enough.
  23. I got my RealID about 3 years ago. The id requirements alone were ridiculous. It isn't enough that I already have a passport and state issued DL. They needed additional proofs that I was who I said I was and lived at my current address. The biggest problem was finding something else with my name and address. All my bills are either paperless or in my wife's name. I already had a US passport that is good enough for the Fed Gov't to leave and return the country but this is not good enough for the state or for whatever the requirements were for RealID.
  24. I ordered an old fashioned at a couple of different bars (2 or 3 bars). They were all slightly different. I think the biggest difference is one of the bars had dark cherries rather than maraschino.
