  1. No, at least not as of last March.
  2. If you develop a rapport with a bartender and come to an understanding that's one thing, but bartenders are supposed to open all drinks served under Cheers to discourage hoarding.
  3. I will be in Norfolk this September cruising on Magic. I am excited for Norfolk as well, it's actually a little closer to me than Charleston. Apparently I already mentioned I'm closer to Norfolk...lol been a long day
  4. I hope so too, thanks! 🙂 If not there's always Norfolk, which I'm actually closer to.
  5. I'm not sure what you've heard but the cruise terminal in Charleston is mostly going away. All that will be left is the pier for daily port of call cruise ships. No more homeport operations after 2024. I guess it's possible that at some point they will build a new cruise terminal somewhere else in the city, but there are no plans for that at this point. The rich in Charleston fought the development at every turn until finally the state gave up and sold the land to private developers.
  6. Especially since the gratuities have not gone down in response to the severe degradation of service shipwide, in fact they've increased them twice in the past year - and if we listen to people here - we are 'cheapskates' if we don't add more besides! Never is the blame placed where it belongs - on Carnival's head.
  7. I would recommend against it if that is going to constitute a majority of your drinking. You are limited to 15 drinks a day no matter how they are consumed, so the drinks you pay for via room service are money out of your pocket in more ways than one (you're paying for them, and they're still deducting drinks out of your Cheers allotment).
  8. The ducks have now become absurd. My last cruise somebody threw one up onto the top of the atrium elevator. That's not hiding, that's littering.
  9. Your photos have got me missing the Sunshine. I was on her 3x last year but still miss being on her. She's a great ship! I hoped to cruise on her at least once or twice before she leaves Charleston but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen as prices have gone through the roof.
  10. I have no idea why the roof to that one building on port property is in such sad shape. I think they pretty much just use it for forklift etc storage. My guess is there has been plans for over a decade to replace the current port buildings with an all-new facility, so the roof repair never got done. And of course now, most of those buildings and facilities will be torn down in a few years for private development.
  11. You can order drinks from any bar or bar waiter. Cheers cannot be used with room service. Any bottles or cans served under Cheers should be opened when served.
  12. Carnival tried nonsmoking casinos around Christmas 2021 when Delta or whichever variant was spiking, and quickly reverted back to allowing smoking just a few weeks later. It's clear that Carnival's casino guests, the ones that actually butter the bread with their huge losses, are smokers.
  13. The good ole days when people lived to the ripe old age of 45...
  14. Right if this is indeed a problem for Carnival it seems that is the obvious solution. No purchases onboard of any kind until you've checked in to Muster. I think eMuster isn't long for this world any way though. So many other lines have gone back to the traditional muster process, the writing is on the wall.
  15. They serve Ore Ida fries now but they at least still toss them in the seasoning.
  16. Typically the rooms are propped open until the stewards are done in them, then they close the door and put the S&S card envelope in the mailbox. So if the door is propped open you can just leave your stuff in the closet or some place out of the way while the steward finishes up. But yes - you are right, if the door to your stateroom is closed and there is no key in the mailbox then it's a waste of time.
  17. Carnival is now only allowing you to buy liquor for the cabin for cruises 7 days and longer I believe. Too many behavioral issues on the shorter cruises. https://www.thestreet.com/travel/carnival-cruise-line-changes-unpopular-beverage-policy
  18. Well it seems to me that you had your mind made up that you are going to park the scooter outside the room and wanted people to tell you that was OK.
  19. More likely they haven't started allowing people to book it yet. They need to change their site to say "check back soon" instead of "sold out" for cruises that far out.
  20. working for me for my september 2023 cruise on Magic...
  21. They don't even charge that fine for people who smoke pot in their bathroom. Carnival's only "zero tolerance" policy seems to be trying to get 16 drinks on Cheers.
  22. Well I think it's OK to complain because people used to get shareholder OBC even with casino rates. So it's yet another cutback at a time when their stock is barely worth the paper it's printed on.
  23. It takes a lot of coffee and milk shakes to make Cheers worth it though. It's really an alcohol package.
  24. thank you for reminding me - my doctor told me the next one of these threads he's going to have to put me on an ACE inhibitor! so I've got to check out of this thread. thanks!
  25. But yet again it is a false equivalence because for one thing - nobody on the housekeeping staff on a Carnival ship pays US taxes.
