  1. I think that is pretty much a given. The past guest party is as good as gone I would expect as well. At least, as we know it today.
  2. It's not weird, food is subjective. To me it is horribly sweet and syrupy, I cannot stomach it.
  3. Nope, no bridge. I-64 through there is actually a tunnel. Watching the ship sail over the tunnel was cool!
  4. Everything on this website is a first world problem. It doesn't need to be mentioned.
  5. I sailed out of Norfolk last year. Loved the experience. Better than Charleston, a more modern facility obviously. Still, will miss Charleston. Not excited about Sunshine going to Norfolk but hopefully it's reasonably short-term and they'll put a different ship there soon. I'm ready for a different ship, I sailed Sunshine so much in Charleston.
  6. You can get "real" orange juice in the MDR during breakfast and brunch. I imagine it's from concentrate but it's not the nasty juice cocktail you're thinking of from the buffet.
  7. They should work fine on Carnival (unless they've started blocking them as they've upgraded to Starlink which I wouldn't doubt). But they could absolutely confiscate it at the pier, or sniff it out onboard and confiscate it if it causes issues. I haven't heard reports of that happening yet but it certainly can.
  8. Definitely will have more kids during the Summer months. Do a 6+ day voyage if you want to avoid as many kids as possible. And the later in the Summer the better. I did a 6-day over Labor Day last year, not that many kids.
  9. True - age is a blessing.
  10. Sorry I was making a joke. On Panama canal or journeys cruises the clientele is geriatric so the parties and theme nights aren't usually as popular.
  11. Advice. I haven't heard of any of them getting confiscated on here. But considering people on here ask if they should put their phone in airplane mode, I don't think many folks on here even know what a travel router is. So this may not be the best place to ask. The last time I tried to use a travel router on carnival in 2019 I don't think they were prohibited. Or if they were I didnt notice.
  12. Be prepared to leave it at the pier if they find it.
  13. Yes - on a Journeys cruise the Matlock night is wild! 😉
  14. The ships are the tallest things in the water so yeah they are lightning rods for sure. It does seem like we'd have more funnel fires than we do if this was the case. It also doesn't seem like the fire would be billowing out of the smokestacks if it was a lightning fire.
  15. Carnival knows who butters their bread. They're not going to piss off their gamblers. Don't worry.
  16. I will note that right now, despite Sunshine being the oldest ship in the fleet and one of the oldest cruise ships afloat - she is commanding some impressive rates. I haven't been on her in over a year due to the prices, and I have sailed out of Charleston nearly a dozen times (3x in 2022 alone). Carnival is giving up a cash cow when they leave Charleston later this year (obviously they would prefer to stay, it's not up to them to leave). The benefits of a drive-to port is something that Carnival understands very well.
  17. The Sunshine is one of the oldest cruise ships afloat right now. You will not have an experience anything like Oceania or HAL. Just make sure you have your expectations in the right place.
  18. That must be exclusive to the "Costa by Carnival" ships. I've never heard of it on a standard Carnival ship.
  19. All ships have the S&S kiosks...their locations are in the Fun Times when you get onboard.
  20. Pot of coffee is free from room service during breakfast hours, customary tip for delivery. Pot of coffee outside of breakfast hours may be $5 or so, I can't remember. Self serve coffee is free on Lido deck 24/7. Also free in the MDR and other table service restaurants.
  21. They don't provide umbrellas to anyone. Some ports of call offer umbrellas at the beach or pool, usually for a fee.
  22. They provide beach towels (that you can take ashore if you want) but nothing else. The slides operate even in the winter.
  23. I don't think that wanting properly cooked, fresh food is being a food snob, but each to their own.
