  1. My CP had been at a Princess workshop and found out the 3 for free is Sept. 6 - Nov. 15th.

    Sali

Thanks for the info. Now that we know the dates I am wondering if this Octobers cruises would be included. If not, the ship sails in March and October 2018 so maybe I will be lucky to get the sale for either of those cruises. Also, do we know if there is the non-refundable deposit?? That would be the icing on the cake;)

  2. When we first starting cruising I decided to do a day by day journal. We kept the platters but not the advertisements that were included. I have my pictures in photo albums with descriptions under them (not computer savvy and before we had one). We have so many wonderful memories with people who are now no longer with us and were our cruise buddies. Just the other day I sat and went through the photos it was bitter sweet. It is nice to read my journals and see what we did while we were on a particular cruise. I also keep journals and photos on family vacations. It is fun to look back and see how the grandkids have grown and the adults too.:D

  3. Tell me about it! I feel your pain. We've totally renovated our entire home recently. The thing that got me through is if it's done right, it'll only have to be done once. It'll make your cruises that much more special and your new roof will be good for about 2 or 3 decades. :D

I told the roofer the roof will outlive us:') we are in our 70s but glad we are on this side of the grass:D

  4. Our last two cruises we booked on Come Back New and 3 for Free sales. I was looking at our invoices today and noticed that the Come Back New we booked in March, 2017 and the 3 for Free in October 2015. So looking at these sales I am hoping that one of these sales is around the corner. We are looking at the 14 day Oct. 2018 on the Caribbean Princess. I was looking at this Oct. but seems we need a new roof!! Home ownership, at times, can get in the way of cruising.:)

  5. We are Diamond members and last August sailed on the Adventurer. When we went into the dining room we told the person greeting us that we were Diamond. They instructed the waiter to show us a particular area where the Diamond members sit. In that area was a set up of fruit, yogurt and dairy products. Our grandchildren were impressed with the waiters and their asking their names. As the week went on our family really enjoyed the time together at breakfast. The grandkids chose from the little setup area, we ordered from the breakfast menu. I think it is a nice setup and service was fast and friendly.

  6. Thanks for all the nice responses. I love hearing how others have surprised loved ones!

If anyone has any suggestions on how to creatively "reveal" the trip, I'd love your suggestions. Years and years ago, I bought them Citrus Bowl tickets for Christmas, so I wrapped up a bowl with oranges, lemons, etc. in it. Lame, I know! Hopefully, I can be a little more creative this time.

The suggestion I have is to find a few little things representing a cruise. I have a little ship, a small life preserver and I have seen small passport items in stores that sell hobby things (Michaels for one). You will do fine.

We surprised my brother in law and his wife several years ago when they went to Alaska for their 40th Ann. We booked the cruise shortly after they did. We booked in January the cruise was September. I talk to my SIL every day, so for those 9 months I kept the secret. We drove them to the airport and they said that they wished we were going!! What surprise when they came off the train (they did the land tour first) and saw us sitting waiting for them. They said that was the best gift and surprise ever!!

  7. We are fortunate to have a mail slot in our garage door:) Our son lives close so he checks on the house and puts all the mail on our kitchen bar. Oh when we come home we go through the pile (such fun). My DH has automatic bill pay on our bills so we do not worry about past due accounts.

Getting back to your question if it were me I would put a hold on it both for the 30 days and have a trusted friend or neighbor pick that 30 days of mail up. The remainder days I would put another hold and when you return you can pick it up. Good luck!!

  8. I checked old emails and the 3 for free started last year on September 6.

We booked our Royal cruise on this sale last year. I am wondering if it would be too late to book an Oct "17 cruise in Sept. or should I book the Oct. cruise, then rebook when the 3 for free sale comes??? The cabin prices are lower but no real perks. Help would be appreciated!!!

  9. We are Diamond members and on the Adventurer last year we had breakfast in the dining room. We told them we were Diamond and they directed us to an area that was for Diamond members. Our grandchildren were "impressed" with the great service. The staff were great and asked our grandchildrens names. After that it was Ms. Claire and Mr. Matthew, the teens thought that was great!! We had breakfast there every morning. A great way to start our day.

  10. I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your comments, some nice, some not so nice. I realize that I might not be cruise savvy as some of you may be but honestly I do appreciate your taking the time to reply to my post. I have learned a lot by reading them. Our very first cruise was on Norwegian and the experience was a good one. IF ever we decide to do a Norwegian cruise I will be sure to read every detail of what is offered.

Thanks again and enjoy your weekend.

  11. Oh my gosh that charge is for the gratuities for those packages as you will not be given any kind of slip to sign where you can tip. If you were not planning on tipping then feel free to be outraged. Otherwise just do the math and enjoy the cruise. $127 pp for all you can drink is a steal if you are going to drink more than 10-12 drinks in 9 days.

Thanks I now understand, if we were to order a drink without the package there is a tip involved (we always tip) so they want to make sure that the tip is included (makes sense now). Thanks!!

  12. We were considering booking a cruise on the Pearl for November, 9 days out of New Orleans. My travel agent took the info and yesterday emailed the information! The perks he put us down for were the dining and beverage packages. As I was looking over the booking information I noticed these fees for both packages!! The beverage package had a $255.96 fee (($127.98pp) and the dining $24.84 fee($12.42 pp) those fees are the gratuities that you pay for the packages!!!! A total of $270.80. So Norwegian offers these to the passengers only to get more $$$$ plus the gratituities for the rest of the crew!! This is outrageous to me. As I said in my first sentence we were considering booking, not any longer. I am certain Norwegian will not go broke because I am not booking this cruise. I probably could without choosing any perks but that defeats the "offer" from the cruise line.

    Thanks for reading my post.

  13. When we booked our 11/26, the 11/10 was only a 7-day. They changed it and when we called we would lose our initial free offerings so we kept our sailing. For timing purposes the 11/10 sailing would have been better for us, but I figured I will be thankful when that one is returning and we are just Heading out on ours! [emoji6]

I read on these boards that you can rebook a cruise. They suggested that when doing so you do not say cancel you say "rebook". If you really were set on the 11/10 cruise I would try again to rebook it. The one that we are thinking of has "perks". My TA has a cabin on hold for us now all we have to do is decide!!

  14. We went on our first NCL last November and we're hooked on NCL and hooked on November cruises!!!! We will be on the 11/26/2017 9 day cruise out of NOLA on the Pearl!

We are looking for the 11/10 out of NOLA, waiting to hear from my TA, also looking at air from Pittsburgh. We have not sailed Norwegian since 95, we do not know what to expect!! We sail Princess and Royal, we like the itinerary for this cruise!

  15. Heh... We just booked 49 days on Royal in a deck 8 balcony in the aft portion of the ship. Lots of walking. GOOD! That's how we avoid gaining a bunch of weight. We did a 17 day cruise and gained zero pounds. Lots and lots of walking and stairs.

I was actually going to book forward on Lido but, even though it was the first day the cruise was offered, those cabins all showed as sold out.

Enjoy your cruise and Deck 8!! I think our cabin was #714 actually it was an upgrade!! By doing all that walking we met some very nice people in the hallways!! Have a great cruise.
