  1. I was in IT for 40 years. Do you know how many times I’ve heard that? Nothing is as simple as it seems, especially if you are dealing with a legacy system. The cost to change it probably outweighs the benefit. How many people really need a choice? Reversing the charge to the original payment source is the simplest solution.
  2. Yes, it’s cost. A few years ago we got hit with a $25/day charge from Verizon for receiving one text. After that, we installed an eSIM. A few weeks ago we changed to T-Mobile and international text & data is included for less cost than our old Verizon plan, which had no international included. We also dumped Verizon because without notice they increased rates and charged a 5G surcharge on both lines even though one phone is not 5G capable. Our bill increased by 20%. Word to the wise, new plans come and go in a highly competitive environment. If you have had the same plan for a number of years, you might be paying too much. Shop around.
  3. As stated in this thread, not all excursions are offered on every sailing. This one seems to be a tour of La Sagrada Familia followed by dinner and a multimedia presentation. Due to the timing I think this can only occur on the overnight in Barcelona, probably on arrival, not departure. You might be better off with a different excursion that allows you to actually see first hand more of Gaudi’s remarkable work. If this excursion is not offered I highly recommend Gaudí’s Houses of Modernism. We took it last year and it was tremendous. Here is the writeup starting at post #55 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2927474-almost-live-viking-sky-mediterranean-odyssey-april-2023/?do=findComment&comment=65262761
  4. We took the tour a few years ago and it was indeed outstanding. The docent was excellent. When we were leaving the House of Lords, DW tripped on a weird angled half step at the bottom of the seating area and fell. A year later I was watching the Brexit debate on live TV during which I saw someone trip and almost fall on the very same step. It brought back memories.
  5. Interesting. 4400 + 900 = 5300 From the OP's description it sounds like any or all of the following occurred: They had the wrong price listed on the Best of Australia The Sydney extension sold out and the Best of Australia was substituted There was some confusion as to what was actually booked
  6. Left Center Right A game of pure chance. Requires no skill to play.
  7. You’re not off base. In the past I’ve tracked promotions of cruises we have taken and in many cases different things were discounted with different promotions (air, cabin upgrades, free SSP) and the net price was in the ballpark. It’s part of the marketing strategy to target customers. Different perceived value for different folks.
  8. We also have taken many extensions and have never seen this before. It could be that it was actually a pricing error on the website. Depending on where you live you might covered by consumer protection laws. Some jurisdictions require a company to honor a publicly published price, regardless of error.
  9. You might meet the conditions for obtaining a 2nd passport. It’s rare but possible. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/second-passport-book.html#:~:text=A second passport book is,information as your other passport.
  10. I suggest you check your invoice. It contains your itinerary. A new one can be requested on MVJ.
  11. One other variable that I just encountered, equipment change. We had flights all set (not ticketed yet) then got a notification from the airline that the type of aircraft was changed and we had to confirm the changed leg or change flights. The change didn’t really impact our seats so we re-confirmed. We are now ticketed and ready to go.
  12. You can buy me a drink if we're ever on a cruise together 🍹
  13. The IWM main campus on Lambeth Road is also worth a visit. As a former museum president, I found its exhibits to be some of the most creative I’ve ever seen.
  14. We took the same extension and 100% agree. It was a terrific experience. Here is my writeup: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2906353-almost-live-viking-sky-journey-to-antiquities-jan-2023/
  15. Grabbing popcorn and awaiting @FlyTalker reply
  16. WWC24 is the current promo. Just received the 24/25 WC brochure last week. Expires April 30, but will probably be extended.
  17. You can indeed spend all day at Bletchley. There is also a ham radio shack on the grounds.
  18. I seem to recall you have about 2+ hours of free time in Bruges. Here is a tip for Portsmouth. If you take the included tour, you can ask to be let off at the Historic Dockyards. IMO the Mary Rose exhibit is a must see, as is the tour of Nelson’s flagship Victory. The shuttle stop back to the ship is a short walk from the entrance.
  19. The Expedition ships also have wireless charging areas on the nightstands. Do any Viking Ocean ships have this yet?
  20. The new iPhone has a “fast” charger (more amps) so it uses a different plug on the charger side. Both chargers are compatible, but the old one takes longer to charge. The iPhone side is either lightning or USB-C. USB-C is the new standard and because of EU lawsuits, Apple is eliminating the lightning connector.
  21. FOMO and perceived premium value. Meanwhile on the Expedition ships, every night is lobster night.
  22. Cabins also have USB charging ports. Some tour buses also have USB outlets so bring a charging cable when you go on excursions.
  23. Here’s a tip for fixing the upside down orientation that occurs sometimes on CC photo uploads. If the picture appears wrong, open the photo on your phone, edit it with a rotation, save it, edit it again to the correct orientation, save again, then upload it again. This seems to correct the issue. Not sure why CC confuses the orientation. It might have something to do with the orientation of the camera when the picture was taken and the phone automatically corrects when viewing.
