  2. We were also on the ship. Both on our balcony then on deck 15 for the 360° maneuver. ITA with your assessment.
  3. Yes. I don’t believe we were ever in “shallow” waters or in any danger. The violation was the distance to the shore not the depth of the water.
  4. The “environmental restrictions” likely mean they couldn’t get close enough to shore for folks to see Na Pali coast. Or they were refused sailing privileges due shore distance violations the previous day. RCI corporate likely doesn’t want staff talking with an ongoing investigation in process. Even though everyone enjoyed the views (prior to knowing about shore distance restrictions ) most people would have preferred a day in a Hawaiian port instead of another day at sea. We were scheduled to tender to the Lahaina port but it is closed due to the fire. No other Hawaiian ports were available. I was on the 14 April cruise and left the ship yesterday. Captain Matt was very safety conscious. We sailed through coral reefs that were very narrow and shallow in French Polynesia. He knew the exact width and depth of the ship as well as the width and depth of the water surrounding the reefs. He also knew what speed he should proceed under those conditions. The ship was moving very slowly and took almost an hour completing a 360° maneuver. Unfortunately he was unaware of the shore distance restriction.
  5. Agree. This was put into place beginning in October to substitute for the Lahaina port closure. I believe another ship did this lat October. I’m not sure if there was a pilot onboard. Ship went very slowly and did a 360° off Na Pali.
  6. I was this cruise. Captain Matt reported the cruise navigation route goes to corporate shortly before they set sail. He said he is not allowed to deviate more than 3 miles without corporate approval. Other passengers report he spoke in the theater after the incident that he was unaware of local restrictions of not being less than 1000 yards from shore. I know he bears ultimate responsibility but why didn’t RCI catch it?
  7. @abcmanzer did you do this excursion? How was it? I booked it for 2025. I would like to avoid the cable cars completely
  8. Have you considered the train? We took the Thayls high speed train from Rotterdam port to Paris last June. Quick cab ride from the port to the station.
  9. I found a circle tour of Oahu. I may contact the tour operator for luggage storage suggestions. If that doesn’t work, I’ll book a ship excursion.
  10. I am also on a TP cruise in April. We disembark May 1. Our flight doesn’t leave until 9 pm. We would like to do an island tour rather than sit at the airport. Did you find a luggage storage solution?
  11. We did not pre purchase laundry. We filled out the laundry slip and wrote “cc select” at the bottom of the slip. We sent one bag each on different days. The cost was $20 per bag
  12. I called Flights by celebrity to select seats. Otherwise tickets are paid for about 30 days ahead of travel

  14. We disembarked the Apex at Rotterdam in June. We took a taxi to Rotterdam Centraal. You can catch a train to AMS.
  15. Yes I believe they offered a class package for yoga and other fitness classes.
  16. Wasn’t impressed with the yoga class on the Apex last May. Very small room and a third of the class had never taken yoga. He started late, ended early total class time 35 minutes. Instructor seemed bored the entire time. It was $23 with the included gratuity.
  17. I was on this sailing. I saw very few kids as well. I thought the weather was good for Scandinavia in early June.
  18. I loved the pumpkin salad, salmon, black cod and hake.
  19. I stuck to cosmopolitan on my recent cruise due to the outstanding service from our waiter and sommelier. Our waiter reminded us we could order off any menu. They quickly learned our drinks and tastes in food. We left extra gratuities for them
  20. I flew from Barcelona in June 2022. Long lines to check bag and passport control. We arrived at 8:30 for an 11:30 am flight. But have priority status with American Airlines which reduced our wait to check a bag.

  22. That’s good to know. I was on the Apex last month and had outstanding service from our room attendant, sommelier and waiter. I think it is important to recognize good service as well
  23. Perhaps it would be more effective to make your concerns known while onboard? I sailed on the Apex earlier this month. I recall seeing a QR code in the nightly bulletin in which you could provide immediate feedback.
