  1. Thank you and yes, I always declare everything in full (which is thankfully not much). Forewarned is forearmed as they say, and I think we have all learnt a valuable lesson from your experience.
  2. This has just been such a dreadful experience, but compounded by extremely poor customer service and care from Princess Cruises. Having enough credit and cash on me has certainly made me much more aware of what needs to be in place now - so thank you for highlighting this. I do find it very concerning as to what could happen if taken unwell (and as a solo passenger) as like most on here, I assumed that was what taking out travel insurance was for. I hope your Aunt is soon back to better health.
  3. Interestingly (or not) my local pharmacist is Rowlands and they are allowing 50-64 year olds to put their names on an online waiting list. As you say flu jabs for this cohort I appears to start from 15/10.
  4. Good grief. Now that is serious……🤣🤣
  5. So sorry to read this Josy. Hopefully a mild bout. Take care.
  6. We had distant thunder and some rain. Oh gosh, it was lovely - I went out into the back garden and got lovely and wet. Temps risen again tho.
  7. 26c at 10am in south Dorset. Took Freddie over to the park/field opposite at 5am and it was 20c - and surprisingly pleasant. Hope everyone keeps as cool as they can - we will no doubt all soon be moaning about the wind and rain!
  8. Should be lovely at Chewton tonight, but it will be hot so hopefully you have a hat and one of those mini fans…… Enjoy!
  9. Vaccinations for coronavirus Press release Over 50s to be offered COVID-19 booster and flu jab this autumn Everyone aged 50 and over will be among those offered a COVID-19 booster and a flu jab this autumn under plans to increase protection against respiratory viruses ahead of winter. From: UK Health Security Agency Published 15 July 2022 Last updated 15 July 2022 This is on Gov website which was updated yesterday so looks like flu vaccine will be offered to over 50s.
  10. As I understand it, the over 50s are going to be offered an autumn booster as well as the flu vaccine. Hoping you both feel better soon.
  11. Absolutely. I’m getting out and about a lot more and socialising outdoors with friends etc. But I feel almost claustrophobic if indoors with a lot of people (be it shops or restaurants etc….). As an aside I’m thrilled that at 63, I will be offered another booster and flu jab in the autumn which just gives me a bit more confidence. I’ve managed to avoid Covid so far, but how long my luck will last is another matter.
  12. Sadly, that is boring and short-sighted IMO, and it is not going to tempt repeat passengers. I’ve done around 40 cruises with P&O - the majority having been on Aurora (altho also been on Oriana, Azura and Victoria) because I love that style of ship and because she went to many different ports over the years. If she and the other ships in the fleet had stuck to the same itineraries, I doubt I would definitely not have done more than one cruise a year with them and would certainly not have taken the number of cruises over the decades with P&O…..
  13. Some of the comments on there are very unfeeling and rude. I hope they never have to experience what you have.
  14. Lovely photos. Brought back memories of when I used to stay there when on business near Grimsby!
  15. Just back from two days in Henley. Went to the festival and outdoor concert on the Thames last night (saw The Script). It was a black tie event and there were several thousand people there all dressed up to the nines. Age wise it was probably 50/50 for the over 40s and under 40s. The youngsters clearly enjoyed getting dressed up and 99% looked so smart…… So from that event last night I would say P&O would be wise not to do away with black tie nights.
  16. Oh no. So sorry to hear you have caught Covid. Sadly what you say does not surprise me. I hope you feel better soon.
  17. That’s awful Harry - you poor wife. For whatever reason it seems to scare some people if others are wearing a mask and completely beyond me why anyone has to pass such a rude ignore and comment. It surely makes no difference to them, or perhaps they are just frightened little cowards…….
  18. I personally like overnight stays in port, but I do find I don’t sleep so well with the boat being stationary and no engine noise…..
  19. I find it quite shocking that on some cruises the speciality restaurants are closed and not available. Apart from extremely disappointed and unhappy passengers, P&O must be concerned about the lost revenue that these places generate. Certain cutbacks can be forgiven in the current climate - but the ability to eat somewhere different / more upmarket than the MDR is inexcusable and it doesn’t bode well for the future.
  20. Yes. 110 nights on Aurora on a world cruise 10 years ago. A fabulous experience and loved every moment…. As a solo passenger I went to places I never thought I would ever visit (like China, India and Vietnam) and made life long friends who I still cruise with.
  21. I am dipping my toe back in the water (so to speak) and have booked a 7 night cruise on Aurora for next summer. Hopefully she will still be in service then. With just a deposit of £70 it seemed silly not to!
