  1. Dawn 14day 11/27/22 Caribbean out of Tampa Booked Inside @ $1770 & recvd $600pp FCC for price drop (Inside now = $800pp) Won bid for Club Balcony Suite MA @ $350 pp (now $2600pp) Probably overpaid, but saw the inventory plummeting & wanted to make DW happy.
  2. In my personal life, I'm the grumpy>anti-social>I-Hate-People Old Guy referenced above. In my professional life, I need to be (and am pretty good at being) extroverted>engaging>gregarious Cruise Director good guy. Once aboard ship, DW is consistently amazed at the appearance of "Golf Pro" Leithbones (whom she rarely sees) supplanting "Grouchy" Leithbones (her normal companion). I can discuss anything, laugh at every joke, take your selfie for you, listen to the latest crisis your kids are enduring, share a cocktail/meal, or go on an excursion with you. After the cruise, don't call me. Don't text me. I won't respond. Cruising brings out My Different Person.
  3. I realized after disembarking but STILL IN THE PORT building. Was able to talk to SHIP staff attached to housekeeping/stewards and describe exactly WHAT I left (nothing of value), and WHERE it was in the cabin. Waited 90 minutes, but at least they came back to tell me...... ...... S.O.L. Went through the 'Lost Items' checklist as above, plus by phone to explain "In cabin". 'Status' remained stagnant (Months) until I gave up. S.O.L. twice. Just my one-time experience. Hope you have better luck.
  4. So I tried. Live GuestServ by phone; not my PCC. (I will say that I was very happy with original FCC for price drop= $6oo ea for inside cabin). There was an additional price drop subsequent to being issued FCC>>to the point where Balcony BA/Club MA is less than my original Inside IF- minus FCC! "Can I get my FCC amount increased?" Nope (expected). "Can I get cabin upgrade (in the neighborhood of my Bid amount) instead of FCC increase?" Nope (kind of expected). As posted upthread, WHEN to request the FCC for price drop is important. If I had waited longer to inquire, I may have been awarded more.

  9. OP- Yes, if you pre-purchase OBC, it's entirely refundable. I buy it for two reasons: 1. CN Certificates are ineligible for Non-Refundable OBC (like Stockholder credit), and 2. It's kind of a 'soft' budget for incidentals. "Here's how much we have allotted ourselves to spend aboard Honey, don't go over." Yes-- the credit on our account is more a psychological restraint for us than if we just told ourselves "Spend X or less" and paid our bill at the end. I also prepay DSC because I like dis-embarking with a nice $0.00 on my cabin charge. Tracking my folio >> how Refundable/non-refundable credits were applied to various shipboard charges is an important daily reconciliation if I don't want a big mess at the end. It's best to tell each venue WHICH type of credit you want redeemed from your account. Visit Guest Services immediately to rectify errors. I agree that the 'nickel & dime' logic seems irrelevant to OP's query.
  10. 14 day Caribbean out of Tampa Nov27 on Dawn. IF = Inside We bid on Balcony (Poor/Fair borderline) and Club Balcony Suite (Fair/Good borderline). Both categories showing 15+ cabins available for each. Interesting that Oceanview was not offered. Will update.
  11. Yup. Most of the UNWANTED (not SCAM) calls for US phones originate from inside US. You can cut WAY down on these by telling those who follow the law stop. It costs NOTHING, and takes LESS THAN A MINUTE. You're correct that the system is faulty, with holes, and needs improved enforcement. That is not the same as worthless.

  13. Finally caved to DW requests over many years. Couldn't stand the idea of cruising, but surprised her for our 25th. "One and Done, honey. This is it >> so enjoy." 14 day Repo out of Boston was best value, and since we were only going to do it once.... 3rd day I said "OK, next time here's what we need to do differently...."

  15. 2018 Sox v Dodgers Boarding Dawn out of Boston as WS starts. Straight to Guest Services-- "Will you have the Games on in the Atrium, or will I have to watch at one of the bars?" "Ummm, no." "No, not in the Atrium, or No not in the Bars?" "Ummm, neither." "So I can only watch it in my cabin?" "Ummm, no. We won't have the game on anywhere." "Including my cabin?? YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE THE WORLD SERIES ON ANYWHERE?! We're sailing out of Boston for Chrissakes!! You probably have 2000 Red Sox fans coming aboard!!" "I apologize sir, it's not in my control." "Man, I don't want to be YOU for the next three hours." We miss game 1. Next morning, Captain's daily announcements include.. "Good morning guests, blah blah blah....... and going forward, we WILL be having World Series Baseball available for viewing as so many of our valued passengers have requested. " If ENOUGH of you *****&Moan LOUD enough, things can happen. Do it politely.
  16. Stipulating that ANY creature comforts I may miss are WELL WORTH cruise life---- (and many posted above are true for me)..... We have a nice view/vista from our bathroom. I find it very relaxing on the Throne when I'm looking at scenery I love. Less so in the ship's ClosetToilet staring at a wall.

  19. For years I have been unable to un-yoke myself from a subpar PCC. I now call directly to NCL CustServ and say "No, I do not wish to deal with ________, please remove me from her list of clients. Here is my question/problem/request I have today, can YOU help me with this?" Never had difficulty getting assistance. Recently I received an auto-email from PCC "Sorry I missed you, let's catch up" blah blah blah. I replied with a polite version of 'Go Pound Sand' -- we'll see if THAT has any effect.
  20. Recvd '2nd Guest Free' air Itinerary for 11/27, Dawn from Tampa, on 9/24. Earlier than expected. Requested 1 day deviation pre-cruise.
  21. So I'm bidding for Club Balcony Suite AND Balcony on the Dawn (from Inside). NCL Website details on room size as follows: Balcony: Total Appx Size = 203 -301 sq ft, balcony 37 - 54 sq ft (SAILAWAY, which I assume is smallest = 203 & 37) Club Balcony Suite: Total Appx Size = 283 - 301 sq ft, balcony 54 sq ft (SAILAWAY = 283 & 54) 80 sq ft difference is not an insignificant amount. Cannot know how much of that 80 is room v. bathroom. Do Not know if Total INCLUDES balcony footage or not. Seems like 301 max sq ft is luck of the draw on bidding.
  22. Yeah, I clicked on this thread because I'm considering taking the "Tour / to Airport" disembarkation excursion on our Carribean in November out of Tampa. You gave your info and explained what efforts you've made, in my view correct steps, to rectify NCL's errors. Kudos. Beyond that, posts have become strident and histrionic. I think what you consider "trolling" are comments on your tone, not your message.
  23. I also wanted to dovetail my Specialty Reservations with MDR nightly specials. At CC M&G I asked the Hotel Manager for MDR menus upcoming on our 14 day cruise. Potocopies were delivered to our room within a few hours. I switched one pre-reserved specialty night which conflicted with a MDR nightly special we love. Easy if you ask once aboard, although changing reservations at that point may be tricky.
