We don't know anything about Carnival Corp components, including whether or not the casino pays for rooms or other comps, or how much. Each Carnival component is run as a separate business and Corp expects each to turn a profit. It is absurd to try to lump them together and say it is all the same company. That isn't how a legitimate business operates. I get almost daily emails from the casino. Not interested in "free" inside staterooms or Australia, and it seems like most cruises are a year or more out. Clearly Carnival doesn't lose money on cabins or they would have been out of business a long time ago. I think it is also clear that there are cutbacks in casino offers, and more competition for those cabins.

Bummer. Good to know. I had though about visiting the zoo, as well. Our ship tour for the cable car and Landing Museum was canceled for lack of people. Surprising since it was the anniversary of D-Day. Ended up with Uber to the museum and cable car back. Then another Uber back to the shuttle boats. Still much less than the ship tour and no lines. We had to hurry to get to the top, because I did notice the museum had an annoying habit of closing for lunch and I didn't want to rush through it.

You are correct to not risk giving your Mother Covid. Too many people only care about themselves. While perhaps possible, I doubt you would catch covid again so soon. The Legend cruise was exhausting if you had a tour in all ports. We did. It took a few days before life returned to normal and we weren't sick. Maybe Carnival would let you move the Splendor cruise to a different ship and date? I learned a long time ago not to schedule cruises too close to each other. A lesson I still forget from time to time. Personally, I would say suck it up, buttercup, and go. I would try. I can sleep when I'm dead.
