  1. It could but I have always found my physicians well informed. I think what she needs most to know what are her probabilities of experiencing a bad case of Covid once again. The physician knows her risks, can test for strong presence of antibodies and make the call. If she is susceptible she might as well plan on a quarantine. None of us know what quarantine will look like in 2023 but it will be at least what is required for norovirus and that is confinement.
  2. I think it would be deemed an upsell and you would be expected to pay. You might want to gamble they give you a better cabin when you board.
  3. Thank you for finding this information, this is exactly what people need. Excellent post
  4. I would be talking to my personal physician not a group of strangers no matter how well meaning they are. This is what we have done in the past and I have an appointment in 10 days to assess my risks for the next cruise at the end of August.
  5. Exactly. This has nothing to do with safety, nothing at all. Enough of the pretense.
  6. Definitely call. They can answer most of the questions you have asked here. I assume your cruise is quite a few months away so there is plenty of time for things to change.
  7. Could be or I often assume - operator error. People aren’t great at following instructions.
  8. I am pretty sure they are speaking of promotional rates such as those offered to travel agents and active gamblers. If it were a “sale” no one would qualify because as I see it there is always a sale, if you don’t like the current one, wait 5 minutes something new will appear
  9. Holland America. Why we were able to work with the airline is we were already ticketed and the airline changed the original flight. The change would have cause a terrific delay. We were at the airport when the change was announced
  10. The reason I speculated an out go of students is they had said they were going to finish all cancellations by July 1 and there were no more until now almost a month later. Something has changed in the past 30 days.
  11. A little late for that. What chaps most of us is that they are waiting too long to notify us.
  12. Why only select cruises? Do it for all cruises. It is obviously not our health and safety they care about. This is a wham, bam, thank you ma’am policy. Get them in, get them out before they know they have Covid. Wash hands and repeat. If they don’t care about my safety that is fine, I can manage my own health and safety.
  13. Though we are about as far apart as possible in style and reasons for cruising I share your sentiment. I cruise to travel but after a few more of the DH’s bucket list cruises I am done. The ships are a convenient way to get to where you are going but if you are sailing the Med, the Caribbean or Alaska there are now so many options there is no reason to cruise there anymore. When we started cruising that wasn’t the case, there were few flights to the islands and little in the way of quality lodging and food. That has all changed. You can hop over to an all inclusive on Southwest and be there in a few hours.
  14. Have fun. Maybe the difference is for those of us with a history they haven’t asked. Yes, I have a history and a file😊
  15. I think they are likely losing a lot of college student workers come August 1. I agree with the falter all I would gladly accept a cancellation
  16. I have never had them ask for additional information. They need to update the form. If it is as you say then they will need two statements not one. Ford requires two statements. The weird part is they have no way of knowing if you owned shares in the intervening period.
  17. They are clearly acting outside of the bounds of the shareholder benefit. As you can see from these official rules you don’t even need to provide an account statement you could have simply sent a proxy. Someone is badly misinformed and you should send him this quote: The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2023 aboard the brands listed below. Certain restrictions apply. Applications to receive these benefits should be made at least three weeks prior to cruise departure date. This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, interline rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom. Reservations must be made by February 28, 2023. Please provide by email1, fax or by mail your complete legal name, reservation/booking number, ship and sailing date, along with proof of ownership of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc shares (for example, photocopy of shareholder proxy card, a dividend tax voucher or a current brokerage or nominee statement with your current mailing address and your brokerage account number blacked out) no later than 4 weeks prior to your sail date to your travel agent or to the cruise line you have selected below. 1If you chose to email, you do so at your own risk and with the knowledge that email is inherently an insecure method of communication.
  18. The date of the statement shows you are a current owner.
  19. Dave I said except the date of the statement……
  20. I am going to call them Monday at the number I posted above. When I called today the agent did not seem surprised that I was asking. Take what you will from that but I think it will be prudent to call the other number
  21. You can use the credit now. Also if the excursion is less than $100 the remainder is applied to another excursion. Go ahead and book now for the best selection. You can always cancel or change your mind for a full refund (usually, read the excursion details as some are non-refundable)
  22. I think they believe we are all happy with the testing because that is who they hear from plus they don’t have to pay for it. Now that the insurance companies are not required to pay the testing fee and places are closing because cruising is the only activity that needs testing they need to rethink what they are doing.
  23. I just need to know in a timely way. The cruise is secondary to other plans we have in conjunction and I need to make alternative arrangements. I am getting tired of the cruise lines with all of their obstacles to travel anyway. Cruising is fast becoming a trip from hell. If I could have gotten my car, ordered in January, I would have driven not cruised
  24. I was not being snarky. I think lots of people who think testing is great are making their views heard loud and clear. I think we need to speak up too. I know it is stressful. If they had taken my blood pressure last time I tested I would have been denied travel. It is horrible and completely destroys the sweet anticipation of a fun vacation. I have one more cruise past final payment and if it doesn’t end I am going to cancel the other cruises I have booked. I can go to those places without a cruise ship. They have sucked the joy out of travel
