I sail almost exclusively long voyages and they do stick with the two nights per week but sometimes pair dressy night with a holiday or Orange night so that can take some of the stress out of dressing up.
January is generally when you will see fee increases including gratuities, drinks, internet and so on. Watch carefully as it is announced with just a small window to prebuy at the old price.
Just as @9tee2Sea remarked we price it all out to determine what is our best option. We are equally at home with fly and drive travel but have found cruising to be an exceptional value regardless of what level of luxury a traveler seeks
It was something I said in tandem with an appropriate popcorn statement and was challenged mightily about streaming. I, like you, said something like popcorn is great but how about coffee pots and streaming. That led a couple of engineering types to worry over that for a while.
For insurance concerns view the insurance forum on Cruise Critic. You can buy annual policies, medical policies, evacuation policies and so on. Steve is the expert over there , CC name iamtrustworthy. Ask him for some ideas.
You gentlemen are missing the fact that we already stream video content. The TV limitations control resolution and also can be controlled by app setting. The apps settings are controlled when the app is installed on the TV and that would be done by the ship not by the passengers. This is managed worldwide by hotels already , HAL would not be reinventing the wheel.
as to zoom vs video. https://www.reviews.org/internet-service/how-much-data-does-zoom-use/
Here is a quote
For all cruises except Grand Voyages, your elevated benefits will take effect on your next Holland America Line cruise. If you cross a star level threshold while on board a Grand Voyage (based on days sailed), you will be upgraded to your new star level for the remainder of that voyage.
Unless you are on a grand voyage you are not officially a 4 star until your next cruise. The tally is not done, except for grand cruises, until 7-10 days after the cruise. You should get a pin on your next cruise.
Tv streaming is comparable to zoom and that is not a huge number. The ships now have the ability to throttle and could (and do) do so when needed. Like coffee pots they certainly are happy to make it available if you are willing to pay and do so NOW. I don’t mind paying I just would like the ability and I would like that ability on their TV. Let’s be clear we can (and I do) stream on my iPad now while on ship, I just want it on TV via app - the app is safe for the network as it does not require compromising the network safety. They install the app, I sign in with my account. Hotels worldwide use this system
I sail Holland a lot and occasionally use a guarantee for one reason or another. If the room is not suitable I call and ask to move and am even willing to pay a small fee to do so. I have usually gotten moved
