Always a catch to everything but I wish all the cruise lines would follow the same guidance. Carnival requires a test 3 days before cruising and RCI 2.

Royal also has the option of a 3 day test if you are fully vaccinated and boosted.  Otherwise it is a 2 day test.

Though I know of multiple UnVax Adult's approved to Cruise on Royal as recent as December.

They do allow a few medical exemptions per cruise for adults, but they are very hard to get.  If granted they follow the same protocols as the unvaxxed kids.  Testing, not allowed in certain venues, and must have a bubble tour to get off the ship in ports.

Thank you so much.  Did you keep your bags with you in case you tested positive? And then gave them to the porters after?

I would, this way if you did you would not have to hang around the terminal waiting for them to retrieve your luggage.  Hopefully you won't have to deal with that!!  On another note there is a local lab on 17th St around the corner from the port that offers the anitgen test for $49 also a quick turn around.  They do not take appointments however.  labdoctor dot org

Going on Allure 2/19 and when I tried to order the test from RCI they were out of stock so I booked online to do it at the port.  There are several links on the website to schedule it.  I was curious as well about where it was located and whether to let the porters have my luggage in case I did test positive.  Lol

The testing at the port is around the corner from the Customs exit.  Once you are registered and paid you should have the results within 30-45 minutes.

We are scheduled for tomorrow on Allure and hoping we don't get cancelled. We are here and ready to board in the AM.

Feel so bad for all of you who were cancelled. So frustrating.

Be aware that they have sent out an email to add 2 hours to your arrival time due to extra cleaning.

  6. Just wanted to let you all know they are now doing testing at Port Everglades.  I do work at the port and just sharing this information.   This is a last resort type of thing and you will be charged approx. $99 for an antigen test.  It did work out well for a number of cruisers yesterday.  It is at the opposite end of the embark terminal and you must wait there for your results.  Once you have your results, you may proceed to the embark terminal for check in.

This reminded me... I seem to recall some talk a few years back where (for a fee) people could stay onboard well into lunch of the next sailing. Can't recall which line floated that option - but I have not heard anything about it since them.

That was Celebrity. They are not doing it right now due to Covid.

Right now, Carnival is not sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale due to dredging work being done by the port, limiting ship traffic. I would expect that once this work is done, they will be back.

Besides the dredging and widening the turning basin  near 17th Street, they just finished a huge parking garage between terminals #2 and #4.  They are also building a new terminal #4 where Carnival sailed out of and a new convention center.  I am hoping that in the next year or two they do return to PEV.  I work there and it is 4.5 miles from my house!!

How do you get on board if you do not have the app and your seapass is in the stateroom?

You will need a print out of your express pass which turns into your boarding pass.  If you do not have a printed copy you will need to get one at the pier.  Your seapass card will be located in your mailbox outside your cabin door.

Not quite true. This was a hot topic on our Roll Call group the other day. It's simply a matter that Carnival just doesn't sail out of of Port Everglades from May-Sept of any year. If you look at their website, those dates are blocked for 2020, 2021 and 2022. I'm pretty sure it was the same for last year as well.

The port isn't closing for those dates; the Carnival ships that are there will just relocate for other itineraries. RCCL, Norwegian and Princess are still sailing out of FLL during that time period so it's obvious that the port isn't closing. It's one of the busiest ports in Florida, so it's not just going to close. There's also no information about it closing on the port's website.

Norwegian does not sail out of Port Everglades at all.  Summer of 2020 and 2021 Port Everglades will be undergoing renovations so sailings will be limited.  Royal will have the Independence, Celebrity will be Equinox and Princess,  Caribbean Princess.  This is 2020.  2021 so far only Caribbean Princess.

As I said, Adventure began ship card distribution in 2018 - in Quebec City.

    Empress has not - yet.

Port Everglades - Majesty still has cards given out in the terminal, even terminal 18.  The terminal doesn't decide it.

Actually it is determined by the check in system on the ship.  There are currently 3 different ones for both Royal and Celebrity.  Majesty should transition to their new system on the way to New Orleans but most likely will still distribute sea pass cards in the terminal for awhile.

I have made changes on two different cruises. Both times I did it at check in. No problem either time.

I am a pier coordinator at one of the ports in S. Florida and we are NOT allowed to make room changes with the exception of charters and or if due to a no-show/cancel will leave a minor alone in a cabin. We need to move an adult into that cabin.  Best to do before hand or go to guest services on board.  Depending on the ship we can make an extra card.

Thanks for all this info.  We are all adults and will be on our annual girls cruise.  There are a few new ones just joining our group as replacements.  We need to split them now because of that restriction about original name on original reservation but need to switch them so they are together in one cabin.

Is this something I should just wait to do onboard through guest relations?

If you can make the change before the sailing that would be the best.  If not you will have to do it onboard. They will NOT do it at check in.

Yes, this would be for a cruise on the Equinox I just booked for August.

There will only be 1 or 2 ships at most in August as they are doing renovations on the port.  You will be docking at T25 which has facial recognition if you have a passport.  As others suggest do the self assist and you should be off the ship 7:30ish if all goes well..... FLL is only 10 minutes from the port.
