  1. 9am might be too early get there. Not sure what time they unlock pier doors when Oasis Class is in port. Do several cruises each yr out FLL on other Royal ship's at same pier and it's not open until 10:10-10:30.

Doors open to check in at Port Everglades at 10:00 am. Boarding generally starts at 11:00 but sometimes 15-20 minutes earlier depending on how quickly they clear the previous cruise passengers.....

  2. This sounds very similar to ccl faster to the fun for which there is a fee.

The Expedited arrival is nothing like FTTF with Carnival. This program is for check in only. The only similarity to Carnival is that on certain ships the seapass cards are in the mailbox at your cabin. You use your set sail pass for any purchases prior to receiving your seapass. They do not do early boarding or early access to stateroom on Royal. They board Suites first, then Diamond +, etc....

  3. I work at PEV for the Allure check in. I don't know the reason why or who gets picked for Expedited check in. It is still in the pilot stage but we are doing more and more each week. We had a glitch, I think because of the bad weather, this past weekend and we could not use the IPads till later in the day. But the Sunday before we checked in almost 2000 guests!!! If you have Expedited and your cabin mate does not, they will check you all in together. Please know that this is just for check in and not for boarding. You will still be grouped by Suites, Diamond + etc..... At PEV we normally start boarding at 11:00, sometimes even earlier. So if you arrive after 11 you pretty much will walk right on board...... Any questions, feel free to ask...

PS. You will need either a set sail pass on your phone or printed for the Expedited. If you do not have one you will go to the regular check in counter. You sea pass cards are placed outside your cabin in the mailbox. Cabins are ready at 1. Happy Sailing!

PSS. We no longer use the health forms. Guests are asked the questions instead.

  4. I appreciate this post as I am considering late boarding for the first time in January on my first RCCL cruise. My last six cruises have been Carnival and each time either a suite or FTTF has allowed me to be one of the first hundred or so people on-board, but this time I will have no priority boarding in any manner on the Serenade out of Fort Lauderdale, so I am seriously considering waiting until after 1pm to board. I am just not sure I can though. As many have said, you paid for that first day, but at the same time we are talking maybe an hour difference between sitting in the terminal and waiting or showing up at 1pm and walking on. Tough choice.

Since you are sailing on the Serenade, I would suggest either to come early (doors open at 10 to check in ) boarding normally starts around 11 or come later after 1:30. I work at the port and we use terminal 29 or 19 for that ship You will avoid the crowds coming at those times....

  5. I read that the *insurance* will pay 500K. That maybe that's their policy limit per incident. Will they recoup the rest of the damages from MSC themselves? They say damages could exceed 10 million. Its hard to believe that Honduras would absorb this kind of hit when liability was obviously not theirs. However, i did read that they have not completed the investigation yet, and there will probably be reparations that we won't hear about at a later date since damages has not been calculated yet.

From the article it states "t

he Insurance company of MSC will have to pay 13 Million Honduran Lempira which equals around 550.000 US Dollars"

  6. The Pier Coordinator is usually at the check in desk. Sometimes in a small office. Doesn't hurt to ask, but they are not authorized to make changes. You must go to Guest Relations and wait in line with others who want to do the same. Don't expect to get an upgrade even if you pay the difference between the cost of your current cabin and the upgrade as they will tell you that the ship is full even if cabins are available. The best way to get an upgrade is to call your TA and pay the price for your desired cabin.

Celebrity no longer does upgrades at the pier. It has to be done on the ship, but it is very unlikely it will happen. You can try and call the Guest Relations desk after sailing as that will be when they know if they have any no shows or cancellations.... But if there is any thing available, expect to pay the prevailing rate for the stateroom. As stated above you are better off having your TA check prior to you sail date.

  7. Wow! We have not sailed out of FLL for a while. Checking ID's is one thing, but a "gate checker" being uninformed and "__ _ _____" Insert your own term here, is something else entirely!:)

Carnival uses some company named "InterCruise" here in Jax. I am not sure how many other ports use this company, but if the supervisors don't know the policies, "I mean Really" :(:) (this my DW's term, I have never used it, until now)

I work at Port Everglades. You only have to stop at the security gate to show your cruise documents if cruising or driver's license if picking up passengers, They do NOT stop you from entering the port. You may not be able to get into the terminal if you arrive before your check in time. With Royal and Celebrity they open the doors to check in at 10:00

  8. Yeah I hope so cause I really am freaking out , I’m driving 6 hrs to Galveston and don’t wanna get denied and the child not be able to board ! I have the letter his birth certificate , school id and his social

Social security is not/never needed for check in child or adult...Government issued Birth Certificate and Student ID is all you need

  9. One of my favorite activities on the SS Norway was the afternoon elegant tea time. It was held in the gorgeous Club International on sea days and truly was elegant. Besides the tea, they served delicious scones with orange marmalade and whipped cream. Also wonderful little fruit tarts to die for. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. They also had music such as a violin and a piano. Does anyone else remember these tea times?

Yes, I remember! I try to attend high tea on any ship I am sailing that has it....

It's been a bit since I have sailed Celebrity but do they still offer the afternoon tea upstairs in the oceanview??

Does anyone know where port parking will be located for the updated terminal for EDGE...? Would be nice not to have to take a shuttle...

Once Terminal 25 reopens you will park at the midport garage. a short walk across the street to the terminal.

They will not be using the convention center again this season. That day there were 8 ships in port.

The are now alternating with Royal Caribbean's terminal 18 & 29 and on occasion terminal 26.
