  1. Nope that is a Chinese / Australian socket. UK sockets are totally different.
  2. Taking food ashore is down to the regulations of the country you are visiting. In New Zealand you could not take any food off the ship in Norway there was no problem with taking any item off the ship. If you are leaving from the UK technically you should not bring meat or cheese into Europe (Ireland) stops in England, Scotland and Wales no problem.
  3. Ours showed up at 58 days- just keep checking
  4. Same cruise same screen shot - the only option is a picture of a self test, nothing to say medically observed letter stating negative result will be acceptable or the usual " document must show date and name of medical professional". I know a medically observed teat WILL be acceptable but that is not what is specifically required for check in for my cruise. Still nearly 2 months away so will hold off making an appointment for an observed test at my local pharmacy for now.
  5. I'm on the same cruise - the wellness check on the app clearly states a self test is OK - as 90% of people aren't on cruise critic how on earth can they require anything else? - If the documentation provided does not meet their requirements then.. Any guest: who fails to carry evidence of their pre-departure test result as set out above; or whose test does not comply with pre-departure testing requirements (for example: they had a PCR or Antigen test more than 3 days before departure), Will be required to undertake a self-administered test prior to entering the terminal.  If the test returns a positive result, the guest will be denied boarding. so not having the correct test done is not a showstopper just another hoop to go through at check in.
  6. Good point - it is just electrical tape is n smaller roll but wrapping some round a sharpie is a great refinement. By the time I'm too old to cruise I will have got the hang of it!
  7. I have electrician's tape on my packing list for Princess cruises. I'm not sure who thought that turning a light switch on was beyond the wit of Princess cruisers.
  8. Ooooh a Weatherspoons breakfast with a bottle of Prosecco the cheapest Champagne Brunch in the country and so good.
  9. Because It is our holiday and don't like to be limited to one dining venue. Because sometimes the dining room times don't match our day and because we like to avoid the judgemental cruisers who refer to the buffet as the trough.
  10. We stay at the Moxy and absolutely second The Standing Order great atmosphere and beer and very reasonably priced. The food is consistently good and sometimes really good. If you have a stop at Portland / Weymouth there is also a Weatherspoons in the high street there where we seem to end up after a long coastal walk for wine and chicken wings!
  11. Good information / reminder. Thank you - we have a Spain / Portugal / TA in a couple of days. We always take rum runners and a funnel - not to smuggle in booze but to store a couple of glasses each in the cabin in case of emergency (it is surprising how often this happens!) . We will make sure they are topped up before getting too close to land.
  12. With free style wearing different outfits every night is even less necessary, you will be sat near different people every night - more so if you throw in the occasional specialty and or buffet dinner.
  13. Our TA Barcelona to NY in December has also dropped Bermuda and we could not be happier. The stress of testing before a cruise plus the extra paper work and cost to spend 6.5 hours in a place is not worth it for us. We will now have an 11 hour day in port at Praia Da Vitoria which seems like a win. I am sorry you are going to miss a stop you were looking forward to, but I think the testing requirements set out by the Bermuda government had a much greater impact on NCL's decision than any customer emails. Testing the entire ship two days before arrival would be a nightmare.
  14. We always ask for and get them in an inside cabin - together with a coffee maker. Never had an issue with size though the sleeves are often very long.
  15. I was trying to book a second meal at Cagney's when I hit a problem. The system let me put the meal in my basket but I couldn't check out. I tried again and only complementary venues showed as options. I haven't gone back to look again though.
  16. I have always carefully followed the excellent advice on this forum - thank you Keith Jenner. This time did not go as smoothly as usual. At 125 days out I went to make reservations using my platinum status to get in early. We have the "free at sea" four meal SDP plus two Latitudes meals. I booked the first four fine one being Moderno so I would not be charged. After I had booked four meals I could not book any more. The only dining options shown were complimentary ones and the offer to purchase an additional SDP for two meals or more. I used the online chat and the agent asked how many SDP meals we had then she was able to book our Latitudes meals. I don't know if this is the new way forward or just my reservation but thought I would share my experience.
  17. If you are not going to be able to enjoy your cruise because you think something else would have been better, then you should cancel and book a trip that you will be happy with. Going over budget is a personal matter. We have an overall vacation budget and will never exceed it others are happy to borrow to fund a trip; one is not better then the other so long as you are comfortable with your decision and can pay your bills. Someone on here posted wise words to the effect the $400 price difference means different things to different people. For some it would mean you couldn't make a payment on your car, for some it would mean they could only buy one pair of shoes next month. Only you know what you would be comfortable with. A balcony with the beverage upgrade would be hard not to enjoy on any ship in my opinion, but we go for inside with basic drinks package and the mindset that if we don't have a good time it is our own fault.
  18. On our last cruise we went to guest services to sort out another issue and were asked if we wanted to have our Military OBC in cash (it was near the end of the cruise) it was about $130. I think this was because we live in the UK, we said yes of course!
  19. We are planning on visiting after our cruise No19 city bus will take to to the park https://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/directions-to-stanley-park.aspx TransLink's #19 bus will get you in to Stanley Park. The bus stops at: Stanley Park Drive and Pipeline Road near Lost Lagoon Stanley Park Loop near the Miniature Train, and a short walk from the Vancouver Aquarium
  20. We are traveling from the UK for a cruise from Vancouver. I am going to order the same tests we used to enter the US last year, buy them in UK and take the test in Canada when we get there to meet the time frame.Lots of information in the FAQs. on the web site.. If you search for fit to fly tests to the US you should find similar services. From the Web site -The last point does not say these are only brands which meet the requirement https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/faqs Telehealth self-tests taken at home under supervision must meet these requirements: The test must have Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. FDA. The self-test process must happen under live supervision on a video call with a telehealth representative. The telehealth provider must issue you a result document that includes all the necessary information. Two tests that meet these parameters are the Abbott BinaxNow COVID-19 Ag Card Test available through the Abbott Navica app, or the Ellume Covid-19 Test with Video Observation Services.
  21. or have Baileys added to your coffee rather them milk!

    Mosquitos

Husband lived in interior Alaska for most of his life and always says the state bird of Alaska is the mosquito. On the coast less of a problem but be prepared if you are particularly to their taste.
  23. We pretty much do this too - usually gain about 1lb a week on a cruise which drops right off when we get home and go back to normal eating, remember anything you gain fast will usually come off fast if you are disciplined when you get back. Also knowing we have a trip coming up is a great incentive not to put weight on - I like to be a couple of pounds under my normal weight before I board.
