  1. For Hotels, it really depends on what style of hotel and what your budget is. There are only a couple of resort style hotels on the island and those will run you between $200-$300 a night. The rest of the hotels will be your Holiday Inn/Best Western style hotels. The one most cruisers like to stay at is the Harbor House. Its on the bay side of the island and close to the cruise terminals. It is close to a bunch of restaurant along the wharf. Its also close to the Strand which is Galveston downtown entertainment district with restaurants/bars/shops. If you are planning to come in a couple of days early and want the resort style hotels, I would stay at either the San Luis or the Grand Galvez. If you have children, I would also look at Moody Gardens. They have a ton to do for kids including an aquarium. You can usually get a package that includes the stay and access to the attractions. For flights, Houston has two main airports. IAH(Bush/Intercontinental) has all the major airlines but is one of United's hub cities. Its about an hour and a half from Galveston. The other is HOU(Hobby) and is 90% Southwest gates. Its smaller but super easy to deal with. Can't help you on transportation since I live about 40 minutes from Galveston so I use my own car.
  2. The Strand is a really nice tourist district with restaurants and shops. It’s not walkable from the RCL terminal though. I would take an Uber over.
  3. Depends on the airport. IAH is more than an hour but Hobby which is mainly Southwest is about 45 minutes.
  4. You will get the best Galveston info from the Gulf Homeport board. Prima had one cruise out of Galveston back in October and doesn’t port there again until December. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/316-gulf-coast-departures/
  5. The drink package prices are if you didn’t take the FAS unlimited package. No one should have to pay those prices since everyone 21+ in the room is eligible for the FAS unlimited package. You want to upgrade, it’s $34.80 pp/pd.
  6. Whenever you are ready to purchase. The price does not change.
  7. What are the regulations when something like this happens? Is the casino open while anchored in the harbor? Does everything get charged sales tax?
  8. Weird. Pricing is no different on the ship than online so no issue if you wait other than the time it takes out of your day. I am really excited for the renewed emphasis all the lines have for Galveston. NCL now sailing from there. RCL sending Oasis class ships. Carnival sending the Jubilee. MSC in talks to lease space. I just wished every 7 day wasn't Cozumel/Roatan/Costa Maya. At least with NCL you get Harvest Caye which is a easy relaxing private port if you want it to be. We are near Sugar Land so its a quick trip down 6 to get there.
  9. Once logged in, under Offer Upgrades you should find the Premium Plus Upgrade option. You also have the Free at Sea Plus upgrade option which includes the Premium and a punch of other upgrade for only about $100 more than just the Premium upgrade. BTW...Are you doing the Prima out of Galveston? We are on the first date in December. Also excited that the Escape will be out of Galveston next winter.
  10. I took the concern as no one covering their mouth when they cough not that they are coughing and must be sick. Whether you are sick or just having a coughing fit, you should cover your mouth.
  11. Breakaway has a Spice H2O but it only has a water feature and no pool.
  12. If you took the FAS drink package then no. They are saving money by allowing you to bring wine on board and not drink free from the bar.
  13. Great review. Sounds like you had an amazing first cruise and might be hooked like the rest of us.
  14. If you have the confirmation numbers, you can go into their app and add the stays. This will also allow you to do online check in if available. I was at a Hilton this weekend and the app allowed me to even pick the exact room I wanted.
  15. No. You would need to upgrade to the Premium Plus package for those. Its $34.80 per person per day to upgrade.
  16. I can't really tell since he is a new member and only has posted in this thread. Don't know why you would come and ask questions and then tell people that answer the question that they are wrong.
  17. There is your answer. At only a 40% discount, its really not worth it for the Premium Plus then. You will be paying a ton for the high end whiskeys even if you do. I would just stick to the basic unlimited package and drink 1792 Small Batch or pay the extra $1.20 for Bulleit. Have a fun time on your cruise.
  18. Don't know why I am continuing to help you but I guess I am gluten for punishment. Below are the whiskey prices at the whiskey bar on the Prima. See the really expensive ones with the star next to it? These are the only ones not included in the Premium Plus package. With the Premium Plus, you do get 40% off the price of those.
  19. I don't think you understand how liquor prices work. The markup on liquor at a bar is 300%-500%. NCL is buying in much larger quantities so their prices are going to be lower than what the bar pays. That shot of Enigma that they are selling for $50 cost them $10. By your logic, NCL is losing money on anyone getting a free drink under $15 on the unlimited package since they didn't pay anything except tips. They are not. Its built in as a cost of doing business. But go ahead. Don't believe me. If its on the flyer, don't order it because its going to cost you extra. Stick with drinks under $15 and the plastic bottle liquors.
  20. You are 100% wrong. There is no limit if you have the Premium Plus. If its listed on the flyer, its included in the Premium Plus. The Enigma is going to be hard to find. It might not be on your ship.
  21. That one is only designated to be at the whiskey bar if your ship has one. Not sure if the Haven counts as a whiskey bar but it could. Its listed as $50 on the Prima whiskey bar so its free for Premium Plus and $42 if you only have the unlimited package.
  22. They are not giving you the bottle. First off, they are not getting it for $200 a bottle. Probably closer to half that. Even if people on the basic pay the extra $20, they are still bringing in $500 for a $100 bottle.
  23. The XO is listed as $40 currently. With the Premium Plus, you will pay nothing extra. With the basic Unlimited, you would pay $30 ($25 difference plus $5 gratuity).
