  1. Obviously. Did you already pay for your meal ahead of time like you do on the ship (mdr)? When I go out the a restaurant where I live I only order the main because it’s a decent size (5 or 6 ounces) of chicken for instance. I may have a salad. I don’t drink because I’m driving a lot of the time and I never get dessert.
  2. Good information. Thanks. That’s odd about the blackout. Yes, I bought mine ahead of the cruise.
  3. No, because there would be another reason for the upcharge. I’m talking apps not caviar and Delmonico steaks.
  4. I should have mentioned for Canadians is sucks (celebrity). I think it’s 50 percent. Princess gives you an fcc unless it’s a covered reason. Hal you get cash with the platinum. It really is the best of the bunch.
  5. Yes, I’m sure there are people more schooled in this than I am but I’m pretty sure I either bought a $50 or $100 card on a cruise where I didn’t hia. That way you can use that card for water, coffee etc and save the hia for the liquor. It doesn’t run through you cruise card if that makes sense. It’s a separate card.
  6. I have to same feeling and I don’t blame him one bit. He’s been on a few of my cruises and I’ve really enjoyed our conversations so I hope that won’t be the case. If celebrity had better cancel for any reason insurance (I’m not interested in conventional insurance and I have travel medical through my employer) I’d definitely give them another try even though it wouldn’t be in a suite.
  7. How does quiet quitting relate to supply chains? Somehow I’m not surprised how things have changed in the workplace but I doubt that has anything to do with Covid. It’s a different world. I’m not saying there wouldn’t be a problem getting carrots or pineapple, but I’m having a hard times believing everything is short.
  8. If you are asking, do you ever get a second offer the answer is yes. A few years back I went from a balcony to a signature suite because it was too pricy for the Neptune. A little later it was more reasonable to go to a Neptune so I took that. That said, I don’t find the value is there for a Neptune that there once might have been. Sure, the room is lovely but that’s about it. There is a poster on this board that had done several hal cruises in a Neptune. He’s done a couple of cruises on celebrity and really likes them. He had a recent thread about a celebrity cruise and the menus and food looked much nicer and upscale than hal. They have a separate dining room of course for suites. If I booked suites I’d be hard pressed to choose hal based on that. Now I know why celebrity lovers say suites are much better on celebrity.
  9. How long was the cruise? And some think all the good cabins are gone years before 😛. Thanks.
  10. No I just mean things always look different to me in video than in reality not that the room was any bigger. It’s not worth it to me to upgrade to a vista on the pinnacle ships because the difference is minimal to me.
  11. You did well with that free upgrade. It’s been my experience that it rarely happens.
  12. Maybe I am just used to a bigger balcony. I would say this is an accurate view of how “big” the balcony is. I thought the video made the room look bigger.
  13. I agree. I think you should go to a balcony to make me consider it.
  14. Same, they win with me on the hia. So you are not one of these people that ask when it cuts off for the next day 😛😉? That just floors me.
  15. I simply don’t understand the supply chain issue. It’s an easy out. I live in fairly large city. I would say for the first six months there was supply problems. After that hardly anything except for Lysol wipes. Surely carnival corporation must have more pull than grocery store. I’m not buying the supply chain issue. Cruise lines had no tougher go than any other industry. In Canada we had restaurants and theatres close for a long time (especially theatres) and you don’t hear them complain like hal does. It an easy excuse that some are quick to lap up. All the better for hal.
  16. I do that as well. The hal website is a huge pain to navigate.
  17. I love bacon but that appetizer leaves a lot to be desired to me. It’s the only way you can ruin bacon in my mind.
  18. I will personally pay you to do that 😛. I know other posters have said this and I love the idea. I went to the pinnacle for lunch only on my last cruise because the upcharge annoys me so much. It’s the first time I haven’t had a dinner there in as long as I remember.
  19. I can’t remember the name of the gastropub either but I liked it. It lasted about 5 minutes.
  20. The cabin was barely larger. That’s why I passed on the next upsell.
  21. I HATE high top tables because they tend to be very high where I live. I've found the ones in club orange to be quite comfortable strangely enough.
  22. I don't care if they do this and I eat pretty much every evening meal in specialty restaurants. Just stop with the stupid charge for second apps.
  23. I could easily see some people doing this. The portions are pretty tiny and if someone is forty instead of 80 and isn't filling up on burgers, fries, cookies and cakes all day it would be totally possible. Should hal start saying you had burgers, fries and cookies for lunch. We will have to charge you for dinner.
  24. I doubt that anyone has a problem with the upcharge for lobster, caviar or a delmonico steak. It annoys the heck out of me to charge for a second appetizer although I rarely do have a second in the pinnacle. I'm just worried this is going to spread to the tamarind where I almost always have a second app. Its cheap and cheesy as heck. I've yet to see anyone take a few bites of anything in the MDR or the pinnacle just to see what it was like. If people do that they should be charged. As a matter of fact I have seen this printed on a menu where I live that if you do this you will be charged. The place is quite pricy too.
