  1. Hahahahaahahahahaahhahahahahaaha.... this thread is the best laugh I've had all morning!! I have an Aussie... and I keep telling him, he is not going anywhere until he learns his "Motel Manners". No barking, no rounding up the birds or squirrels, no snacks off the floors and certainly no zoomies ontop of the beds! Sure he's smarter then the average bear, there is no doubt he could park a ship sideways, organize a muster drill, and challenge the most aggressive jean wearer in the dining room, but there isn't a hope in HELL he would be coming on my cruise.... well not until I can get him a little medical vest (that he won't eat), and a leash (that he won't eat). I've seen the so called comfort dogs on last cruise. Cute yes, legal according to Celebrity yes, but a trained certified comfort dog?? Nope. The woman was a scammer. These people do an injustice to the legit ones. p.s I've seen more pax pooping, peeing and eating from areas they shouldn't, so what's a hound supposed to do?? When in Rome......
  2. Besides Edinburgh Airport car rentals, is there one in South Queensferry??
  3. Yep, we're also a tad nervous..... always have a plan B (Covid taught us a few things..lol)
  4. I did, and per usual very little info. As a matter of fact, CDC did not list the Rotterdam as having a norovirus, but pax did, and included the delayed sailings for extra cleaning. Hmm guess it was just "gastro".... or possibly food poisoning? Yes.. finally the good ol days are back! Now if we can just keep the cows from farting Max!!! 🙂
  5. Did they resolve the one on the Rotterdam?? If so, that was quick!!!
  6. Fingers crossed for a good outcome 🙂
  7. Does anyone have the "Coles Notes" on AC pilots opening up their contract negotiations? Would they threaten strike this early???
  8. Darn those Torontonians 🙂 Honestly I find most humans aggressive angry and down right ignorant. New generation... wokies and entitled. Personally I zone into my bubble and ignore ignore ignore. That's after trying to be kind and helpful to travellers.. this is where I now insert the term "no good deed goes unpunished" I hear you about passengers. Can you imagine how air crew feel??
  9. ^^ sorry, I got lost in the medical trip insurance frenzy, still smarting from this weeks search 😞 I've always had good luck with Visa's trip top up. You set the amount and they quote the cost. If you pay the cruise with your CC, they will cover a certain (paltry) amount, then you top up. Have done it for years on cruises or land based vacations etc. Of course cancellation insurance needs have always been based on what's going on in our life at that time, sometimes we never bothered with cancellation insurance.
  10. Trip insurance is a killer once you hit a certain age, and are required to fill out a questionnaire. Your medication, your age, can omit you from qualifying. Then there is the 90 days or 160 days limit for pre-existing conditions. This includes any lab, any doctors appts, any test results you are waiting upon, any surgery, any use of nitro, chemo, any trips to emergency..on and on and on. Advice... read the fine print... then call the carrier and speak to a human. Ask the questions.
  11. We've got great travel insurance (unless you have pre-existing conditions...grrrrr....), but the max out of province is 30 days. For an Australian/NZ trip, the insurance carrier gave us a partner who provided top up insurance for days past the original 30. It was cheap.
  12. Used Riverside twice last fall. I'll be honest... have stayed in better spots, but... it had everything you would need. Shopping, restaurants, parking, pool, large rooms, a/c worked well. Bed was ok, bathroom ok, living room space. It is a tired looking hotel in every aspect. Taxi to and from cruise port was @20 US each way about 15 min.Front desk pleasant and efficient. Prices standard.
  13. Never found Buffalo to be a viable option. Also never found an issue with Pearson over the past 55 years. But know lots of people who swear using Buffalo saves them oodles.
  14. FYI… might be surplus of hotels now that Celine has cancelled her tour.
  15. German river levels https://www.bafg.de/EN/06_Info_Service/01_WaterLevels/waterlevels_node.html North Sea Canal explanation for changes to Rotteram last year https://www.marineinsight.com/shipping-news/the-north-sea-canal-recorded-high-salt-levels-due-to-lack-of-rain-in-the-netherlands/
  16. Also, my thanks for posting this. Will locate the water level gauge sites to be prepared for Aug and March.
  17. If you're travelling on a US passport, that's all you need. (assuming you do not have any Criminal charges which would make you ineligible to enter) Florida gal is correct.... no mention of Arrivecan and breeze through per usual.
  18. Darn for the head cold, but yeah for dodging the Noro!
  19. ^^ yes, we use a Cdn bank's partner, for top up insurance and the CC's insurance partner for cancellation insurance. Nicely priced, but for medical... we are outta luck, d/t 90 day or 180 day zero issues. Allianz was 180 days due to age. In five days I am at the 90 day mark.... fingers crossed nothing new. Am adding ship cancellation insurance, and if anything crops up, we will just cancel.... sigh....
  20. ^^ poster just picked my brain. We were loyal Celebrity for years after trying them all. I swore off Celebrity last year for various reasons, and returned to HAL. To explain the differences is as posted in all the above, but for me it's like a comfortable old pair of shoes. HAL just feels right. If for some reason we ever sail Celebrity again, it will only be in Retreat. Geez, you think HAL would toss us a few bones for all the positive adverts we're giving 🙂
  21. Thanks for posting... boy this travel insurance ordeal is a PIA ! I've had excellent travel Greenshield insurance for decades. But... now that I am actually in the age group that really needs it just incase, it's a dreadful ball game. 90 days without drs appts, lab work, testing of any kind, new med changes, new diagnosis etc etc etc. So I started looking around to add insurance... some of them it's 6 months without all of the above! My diabetic drs are always tweeting my meds, always having routine lab work etc and always having follow up appts, but now I'm finding myself saying to them... "I'm home in few months from that date, don't order anything until then". Of course the conscientious drs are miffed as that is not part of their routine protocol, but what does a gal do??? LOL very difficult decision to make re going without and play roulette, or live life? Will look into that yearly plan.
  22. Thank you for posting this. Always looking for good shopping 🙂
