Given Windstar ships dock on the 1st pier closest to old San Juan, the Sheraton is a bit far on the other side of the bay. We prefer the well rated El Convento in the Old City. Lots of charm and great location. From there, it's only a 700m (less than 1/2 mile) downhill walk to the cruise terminal.

Sundresses are fine for ladies.

He can wear nice Bermuda shorts when dining at Candles and also on the evening of the deck BBQ. Main dining room and Cuadro44 are long pants. (often I would go back to the room after dinner, change back to shorts and then head to the Star Bar for after dinner drinks)

Yes they have Star link and the internet is fine. Speed is good and our friends did some work on computer with no issues. Text messages with fairly large attachments (photos and videos) left promptly

Well, now that you mention it, they do have mushrooms and onions for omelets. I'm sure if you talk about this to the chef, they will accommodate your request. Seems simple enough. Price was per person. Cabin 127 should be fine as it is pretty much center and away from stabilizers. Plus seas are usually calm and if not, they can detour to several other sheltered stops nearby.

Contrary to what the heading says, we did not travel with children (although there were 2 families with teenage/college age daughters/sons onboard and they did not seem to mind)

We have been on both several times, and it's always a debate. Our last 3 cruises have been on the Wind Surf and Wind Spirit but we are longing to go back to a Star ship as we like the fact they are renovated and contrary to Pudgesmom, we like their layout as everything is in one large area on 2 decks overlooking the pool say for deck BBQ, Star Grill and Star Bar, Sail aways. Just got back from Spirit with 125 pax onboard. and the ship looked great. Can't wait for all 3 of them to get refurbished in the next 2 years. Decision will then even more difficult between the 2. Our first cruise was on the Wind Surf because of the sails, so I think any first Windstar cruise should be on one of the sail boats.

This is a cruise tour which includes an 8-day cruise and a 3-day land tour pre or post cruise. You will likely be tendered in Sorrento and Giardini Naxos but all other stops you should be docked. Sailing ships are motorized ships that also have sails to improve speed/fuel consumption. They are extremely romantic but have smaller rooms (188 sq ft) and no balconies (which is not a problem given the amount of deck space on them). The motorized yachts are exactly that: nice looking slender yachts with larger rooms (277 sq ft), 50% of which have small Juliette balconies. If you are prone to seasickness, a smaller ship will likely be rockier than a larger one. But given you are sailing in the Adriatic, seas should be calm and all Windstar ships have stabilizers to help with rocking motion. Windstar is not for everyone. If you are looking for shows and activities galore, Windstar is likely not for you as entertainment is limited to small bands and some trivia and games. Great food, amazing personalized service, smaller ports and a casual vibe onboard are what sets Windstar apart from the other smaller cruise lines. Hope this helps

Just off the Wind Spirit on an off the beaten path itinerary from Barcelona to Rome which included, Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Mahon in Menorca (Spain), Porto Cervo in Sardinia (Italy), Bastia in Corsica (France) and Portoferraio in Elba (Italy) . Only 3 other small ships all week: Ritz Carlton Evrima in Palma, Star Clipper in Mahon and Club Med 2 in Portoferraio. A joy to get off the ship knowing you'll have the town to yourself. Full review should be posted shortly. Wind Sprit looks very good. Food was excellent although must say that fruit selection at breakfast is pretty limited compared to was just a few years ago. Aside from that it was a wonderful cruise

We just got off the Wind Spirit and we were in 234 and experienced the same loud stabilizer vibration on our first night when swell was higher. Our friends in 219 did not hear anything

At least the Wind Star will be back in 2027.

Just got off the Spirit and food at dinner was as good as in the past but I must say that breakfast fruit buffet is underwhelming with melons and pineapple and canned peaches. No more grapefruits, oranges, kiwis, mangos and berries. Same for lunch where the salad bar is a bit thin. However this did not ruin our cruise but we will mention it in our survey

Just got off the Spirit from Barcelona to Rome and during the cruise, they went out and stocked on some Spanish and Italian craft beers as we went along. They also bought 3 different Spanish wines that were offered at a very reasonable price.

They probably got the existing one on the cheap. These ships cost EUR71mm each when they were ordered in 2017, so they were not too expensive to start off with when you compare the US$250mm+ cost of extending the 3 Seabourn ships. This is excellent news.

One time we asked reception if it was possible to get our passports back for the day as we wanted to go from Sint Maarten to Anguilla. There was no problem for them to do this. In the end we did not go but understood it was possible

Tendering is always a tricky operation. On our last cruise we have a few ports with higher swells and the tendering took longer as it took people a bit of time to get the OK to get into the tender. The tenders have been renovated and hold approx 45 guests each. On longer tenders ports (Virgin Gorda, St Barths, Falmouth,), they sometimes run 3 tenders at the beginning.

We were on Wind Surf for 2 weeks in January and would say there was probably a dinner or two that were OK but the rest was great. Well cooked steaks and veal chop at Candles, French onion soup, rack of lamb, Coquille St Jacques at Stella Bistro, Beef Wellington (cooked to perfection), lobster bisque and scallops in Amphora. Deck BBQ food is fine. Paella is good, so are the suckling pig, lamb chops and a great selection salads. Desserts are somewhat weak but they had a huge blueberry pie/cobler with ice cream that was delicious. We have sailed Celebrity and the food is certainly a step above Celebrity. You can't cook for 3,000 people with the same care and quality as when you cook for 300.

The Lattes are as now as good in the Veranda as it is in the Yacht Club now that they (the Veranda) have the same machine as Veranda. However the Yacht Club has its Barrista. I always get my lattes there.

Well you are in luck because the Wind Spirit's drydock is from March 10th 2025 to April 22nd 2025 and in the case of the Wind Spirit, they are doing all the refurbishments in one longer drydock (not 2 like the Wind Star and Wind Surf), which means it will be fully renovated (incl. staterooms) when you hop on in September. We are on the Wind Spirit this coming May. It will be interesting to see in what shape it's in.

First drydock for the Wind Surf is scheduled for Nov/Dec 2024 and the 2nd one will likely be in 2026 but given cruise schedule is not out yet for 2026, we do know when this is going to take place but for your cruise, the public areas should have all been renovated.

They removed them from the BBQ because there was too much waste. So now they usually have it one night in Amphora (usually the last night). Makes more sense

Nearpost345, While the museum may be closed, you can walk around the Dockyards as the fortifications are quite extensive. There will also be some of the nicest sailboats on the planet in the harbor so boat watching is certainly on the agenda. You can also take a cab for the 10 minute ride to Shirley Heights and take in the spectacular view. If your ship stays late, then you can go to the Shirley Heights Sunset Party which happens only on Sundays. Food stalls, temporary bars and several bands are on site. We have been a few times and usually a few hundred people show up to this thing, pretty busy and lively. You could also go and have lunch on Pigeon beach right next door at Catherine's Café. Nice French fare and great location under the trees on Pigeon Beach. If you are more adventurous, Half Moon Bay is nicest beach on the island but it's a 45 minutes taxi ride. If you go. there's a small basic beach shack nearby and locals renting chairs and umbrellas on the beach itself
