Taking wine onboard from ports of call in Alaska?

Ok so according to the revised terms we could bring in 4 bottles at embarkation. Good enough. Thanks ! -
Taking wine onboard from ports of call in Alaska?

Good day (and I did do a search but couldn't find the answer). Thinking about booking a last minute May '23 Alaska cruise departing Vancouver. Generally we buy the beverage package but since the taxes are so doggedly high on this cruise I'm wondering 1) can we bring on wine at port of embarkation? 2) what if we brought on a bottle or two from ports of call (knowing that they are likely expensive, but less so than onboard.) Is there a corkage fee? The last time we were on Celebrity was in Northern Europe where it was not a problem to do so at all and we didn't get the package because we had a port of call almost every day and didn't think it'd be worth it.

Ocean Cay - what are you allowed to bring?
Morgsmom replied to 25blissfulyears's topic in MSC Cruises
No need for umbrella as they are readily available on the island. -
Did YOU choose this cabin, or did you book Bella get assigned it? In the first case you can see on the deckplans that it's an adjoining cabin, and the balcony is angled. So two strikes. If you booked Bella and were assigned it, then you get what you paid for and shouldn't hold the cruise line at fault. Give 'em another try.

What's the deal with the "premium" Yacht Club internet access?
Morgsmom replied to LoungerOnBalcony55's topic in MSC Cruises
It's the BROWSE package. On some ships, or when in the US market, the wifi is very good, strong & steady. In Europe it can be spotty. -
No flight reimbursements.

Decisionsโฆ.decisions - MSC Divina YC or Grand Suite Aurea???
Morgsmom replied to jmae2002's topic in MSC Cruises
No, it's open to any Aurea guests, regardless of age. -
Some thoughts: 1) a "regular" sized cornhole would likely not fit through the Xray scanner so carrying on would be a "no" and 2) I'm not really sure where you think you'd be allowed to set it up to play as you'd be taking up space and blocking something (or moving furniture) and 3) um, it's April 2nd so this can't be an April Fool's Joke and 4) might I suggest moving over to Carnival? (Kidding, not kidding.)

Decisionsโฆ.decisions - MSC Divina YC or Grand Suite Aurea???
Morgsmom replied to jmae2002's topic in MSC Cruises
Since you are already in Aurea you have access to the Aurea SunDeck which is never crowded. I'd stick with what you have (even though I love YC, it is a lot of $ that could put put toward another cruise.) -
You CANNOT switch built in bunkbeds for a sofa. You CAN switch cabins. ๐คฃ

I think that you are overthinking the situation. Your cabin attendant might also think something wonky is going on if you try to affix something to the connecting door... If you are truly worried, you can always downgrade to your original paid-for category of cabin ๐

Yes, for the 6 year old the birth certificate will be fine. Did it many times with DD was little.

Ok, reading through this again because I didn't get the Travel Agent part before. (TA can also be TransAtlantic). You have a free cabin (score!) to, presumably, get to experience the cruise line and sell it to the masses. And then the 3rd party company sent you an upgrade offer. So you, as a travel agent whose job it is to know the rules, wants to know if they can circumvent the "no upgrade" on your free cabin policy because they are offered the opportunity to bid. And instead of asking the BDM the OP solicits advice on the boards as to how to sail in YC for about 75% off the current prices (based on free cabin + 2 upgrade bids). I just want to make sure that we have the facts. But what's odd is that the bidding algorithm is supposed to take into account the original price paid. In that case the starting bid for Guest A might be $450, while for Guest B it is $750. Since this is a comped room the system seems to be flawed... Oh, right, it's MSC ๐

Maybe the Caymans are trying to make up some of the lost revenue they incurred by closing their borders to cruisers for so long during the pandemic?
-
Bwhahahahah....."to fit our customs".... bwhahahahaha... So they should be opening up a 12 midnight to 2am burger and wing joint for all of the 3 night booze cruisers to wash down their beer? Please say it ain't so. We've gone back and forth about this before. Re-faring is no longer the case with may other lines - you now can "PAY" a surcharge to have flexibility on Holland and Royal. There is a huge business cost to re-faring a guest, not alone with the lost revenue but with the labor to jump through hoops to do so. Airlines do not offer price adjustments when the fares change, which they do every minute, why should cruiselines? Same with hotels who offer non-refundable fares. Find a fare and stick with it. If you've got nothing better do to than re-fare by cancelling, rebooking, etc to save $50 please understand that the costs associated with this to the business will ultimately be passed on to the consumer in terms of higher prices or reduced services. Economics 101.

Thank you so much! And the spreadsheet for budgeting that you commented on ๐

This means to another booking, not to re-fare the booking.

Ooh, I was just about to make some ๐ฟPopcorn to watch this show... To answer the OP's question - it's a free for all. There is a SUGGESTED dress code and it's up to the Maitre D' to enforce. There are posters who insist (blah blah blah) that it's their vacation and they paid for it and they can wear shorts and flops to dinner, darn it, because how they dress shouldn't bother your enjoyment of your dinner. In fact it does bother me because I generally feel like it's being done sometimes to have a showdown of sorts - "whatcha mean I can't wear what I want?" (voices escalating), "I paid to be here and I'll wear what I want, wanna try me?", etc...." (However, I have seen plenty of men walk toward Le Muse on the Divina in shorts, accompanied by their butler, and be denied entrance.) Then there are posters who believe in Ladies and Gentlemen acting like ladies and gentlemen. For this we use the Country Club Attire guidelines. No hats in dining room, no shorts for dinner, etc. If you couldn't wear for dinner in a restaurant at a members only country club then you shouldn't be wearing it in the YC. You want to insist on shorts and flops and a baseball cap - go to the MDR, the buffet, order room service or snack on the olives in Top Sail (kidding). In short, jackets are NOT required for formal night. Collared shirt and trousers are perfectly appropriate, a tie is a nice touch that doesn't add weight to a suitcase. A jacket is icing on the cake, but not necessary.

Seascape - Looking for suggestions for Embarkation food and drinks
Morgsmom replied to LICruiser61's topic in MSC Cruises
but the MDRs are closed on embarkation day. Also, the food in the sports bar is for fee; it is not free. -
LOL! I can relate! My DH has a "no solo to Europe" or any cool place he hasn't gone to before policy too! But if I want to go on a 4 night Bahamas from Port Canaveral he's all for it ๐

The starting bid for your offer might be higher based on what you have already paid...
-
Well, it depends. #1) if you booked a rate with Wifi and Beverage you will not get any refund. However, #2) if you added a Beverage package separately to a reservation and you are still more than 3 days out you should be able to cancel the package.
