  1. That wouldn’t be true if it’s added right before serving as described in post #2. That’s not an uncommon way to serve soup. I’ve seen a number of recipes that call for a last minute addition of alcohol in onion soup.
  2. You can find it in the ship schedule in the Journey section of the app. Every evening will show either casual or formal portraits listed. I’ve seen it populate up to a couple of months ahead of time
  3. We did the small group shore excursion for 99 Euros pp https://www.bellaitaliatour.com/shore-excursions-and-day-tours-in-tuscany/
  4. I’d take a good look at the reviews before you consider playing. We love to bring our clubs on warm weather cruises but a lot of courses are just not even worth investing the time to play much less the money.
  5. You may be able to see it in the activity listing in the app as much as a couple of months before your cruise
  6. There would also be no ability to have food delivered to wherever you might be or for staff to find you to follow up on a concern or offer you something special.
  7. Keys on big, in fact gigantic, key rings! I do not miss those at all. I am sure that there were people who thought key cards were a silly idea that would never catch on. Having to remember your room number really was a huge change. So many things that seem perfectly routine today were huge adjustments for a lot of people. The whole idea of just having an electronic airline ticket seemed crazy when it was introduced 30 years ago. The idea of not having a paper ticket made lots of us nervous. Today almost everyone has adapted to online check-in for cruises, purchasing shore excursions etc. I think all the resistance to using apps isn't much different from when we were all first expected to use websites.
  8. We were considering Graham’s but the shuttle is no more. I wonder if you have any other suggestions for places that won’t be full of large tour groups? Also, any recommendations for a nice lunch spot near the river would also be very welcome.
  9. I wasn’t suggesting that clubs be stored on a balcony, only that those cabins are too small to store clubs. It might be possible in a larger suite though if that’s what the poster has booked.
  10. That’s interesting. I wouldn’t have known that it was specific to cruise lines. I suppose they’d fit through the scanner. I’ve only brought clubs cruising out of Port Everglades on Princess. The porters there took them.
  11. Alternatively, maybe you could have the clubs shipped to wherever you are going afterwards. I think the normal balcony cabins on Celebrity ships are too small to store golf clubs.
  12. Location is the only difference. I like to be near Vines since we always get a glass of wine of wine there to bring into dinner. I find the location of the aft dining room really inconvenient since it can only be accessed from deck 7 or higher
  13. I don’t think you are weird, just in the minority. Most passengers probably prefer to have their key card or medallion with them. I may be in the minority as we don’t spend all our time together, even in port, especially since only one of us is interested in scuba diving. Unless you intend to carry a laptop and try to use the web-based version of the app, no you have no way to use the app onboard. Apps are designed for use with mobile devices. I’m not certain that the web-based version would even be useful onboard.
  14. They are definitely allowed more often than not. They were consistently turning people away on the Sky in November and December of last year and I saw it happen another couple of times this year. I always point it out, not because I personally care what people wear, but so that people are aware that they may be required to wear long pants in the MDR.
  15. I don’t think the app is awful. It has some things that could be improved but it works as well for me as Celebrity or Royal Caribbean’s apps.
  16. I find a medallion much more convenient than a key card since I can wear it on a wristband during the day. I don’t have to worry about it being lost like I do when I cruise other lines. I hate having to hope a keycard stays safe while I swim or exercise, especially in port. That benefit has nothing to do with the app. I think the app offers a lot of convenience for many passengers. It doesn’t matter to you, but I really like the feature of being able to find the people in my party and use it almost daily. For example, if we are doing different activities in port or one is in the gym and one in the spa on a sea day, we often plan to meet “by the pool”. I like being able to just find each other easily. I only wish the medallion had come along when my kids were young. I use the app to communicate with guest relations while I sit and enjoy my book rather than standing in line. I also check my onboard account regularly and like to look at daily menus without having to go to my cabin and turn on the tv. Being able to see port guides and the daily schedule are also great conveniences. I hate carrying around pieces of paper, not to mention avoiding the huge waste of paper.
  17. The “no shorts” rule is sometimes enforced by dining room managers. I’ve seen people turned away several times in the last year or so.
  18. I’m sure that your grandchild will be able to show you how to do it but an easy low tech way to get the statement onto your screen is to take a photo of it.Do you use a smart phone?
  19. If so recall correctly, it’s made with pork. It’s a pretty traditional country-style pate. Or at least it always was 🥺
  20. On the turnaround day in Melbourne, if the ship is sailing to another country, back to back passengers are required to leave the ship, then go back in through Australian immigration. You are only supposed to leave and enter the ship once that day. Either just going into the terminal and reboarding with the group in the morning per instructions you’ll receive in you cabin or going out for the day on your own or on a tour are both fine. If the ship’s second leg is only in Australia, it’s like any port day and there are no formalities regarding immigration. You don’t have to check in with Princess for the second leg in either case
  21. 1. Wi-Fi plans are sold by device, not per person. You can share a one device plan as long as you don’t both want to log in at the same time. 2. The least expensive wines start at about $10 or $11, plus an 18% gratuity so about $12 or $13. To me, even with a shared one device plan or the Elite 50% discount on WiFi, Plus makes sense. Daily crew appreciation and WiFi is $30 per person. Even on a busy port day if I just have a cappuccino in the morning, grab a bottle of water to bring ashore, and have a couple glasses of the cheapest wine at dinner, I save at least a few dollars. I’m way ahead with the $60 Plus fare package over the course of a cruise.
  22. Two people can share a one device wi-fi plan. It is one device at a time but an unlimited number of devices can be logged into
  23. It’s very good too. I can’t imagine what happened to the poster’s portion. I did have a mousse-type pate start to melt once when the plate I’d grabbed at the appetizer buffet was still hot from the dishwasher. It wasn’t pretty. 😂
  24. One thing to be aware of if your itinerary leaves Australia is that once you board on the day the ship sails, you are considered to have left Australia and can’t leave the ship again to visit the embarkation port that day the way you can in other countries. One cruiser ran into problems on turnaround day in Melbourne when he went through the back to back process of leaving the ship in the morning with the B2B cruisers and checking back in for the next leg, which was going to New Zealand. He went out later in the day to visit the city, as he would in any Australian port, and was told he’d violated immigration regulations when he had to go through passport control when he tried to return to the ship. They were really upset with him. (I feel pretty sure he wasn’t carrying his passport and don’t know if that would have solved the problem) The easiest thing is to only leave the ship once on turnaround day if it’s an international cruise.
