  1. Now that the ships have Starlink, there is only one speed. There used to be two (surf and stream).
  2. It is definitely pretty cool in Salem, although there are a ton of subject matter specific tours in Boston (I'm sure some excursions, others may not be) that you might find interesting.
  3. Bostonian here - the traffic in Salem in October is next level awful on the weekends. Like backs up miles on to the highway. Not sure what day you'll be in Boston, but I wouldn't try to do it by car on your own. And it's always on public transit as well.
  4. I really like a non-alcoholic mojito with very little sugar ... It's tart and minty.
  5. I know it's captain dependent, but every Royal ship I've been has changed times to match where we were.
  6. My favorite on my last cruise was a virgin mojito, very light on the sugar. Tart and refresh. A frappacino from Cafe Latitudes was also lovely (and included).
  7. I only did it because it was pouring rain, my luggage was soaked, and the taxi was right there. Getting my stuff laid out to dry was my first priority, but man, watching the meter tick up at an offensively rapid rate wasn't fun...
  8. I took a taxi from the airport to my hotel across the street from the cruise port and it was nearly twice that for a somewhat unpleasant ride ...
  9. I wasn't saying it was needed, I was saying it was offered. It was 35 degrees in Port Canaveral when we arrived - I walked straight off the ship because I wanted to go for a walk. There was no one in line. I didn't get off in Nassau until several hours after we docked, and again, no lines.
  10. Early - around 10:45 (I had the Key and an 11 am check in time). But I chatted with folks with much later check in times that boarded before me.
  11. They weren't on my cruise in December. Granted, there was also no real line ....
  12. On Enchantment in December, they offered priority debarkation at all ports, none of which had tendering. Here is my welcome letter:
  13. It seems to vary by rep (like so much else ...), whether they will let the other person get the soda package or the refreshment package....
  14. I bought it for my Christmas cruise on Enchantment, mostly because I was anxious about those first few hours with my carry on by myself. Kind of silly, I know, but it was my first solo cruise and first cruise since the restart. I really liked being able to drop off my carry on - that was a huge plus. There were no lines at embarkation so it didn't save me much if any time there. The Chops lunch was probably one of my least favorite meals of the whole trip, but it was really nice to have a quiet sit down lunch and not fight with Windjammer. I didn't use the special seating or port of call debarkation, because I had no need to. On the last day, it was very nice to get walked to the front of the line for debarkation. All in all, my plan for my next cruise is to buy the internet and lunch at Chops the first day, unless the Key drops in price to be about the same, and even then, maybe not ...
  15. My mother has two travel wheelchairs from Amazon. One has four small wheels and is lighter, but not as good on cobblestones. The other is the more typical kind with two small and two big wheels, which was better on cobblestones and she can also push it herself. I've put both into and out of taxis and Ubers - it isn't to bad. We used Uber in San Juan and had no issues. The one with the big wheels is more unwieldy, but worth it for it's flexibility. Someone from the ship always pushed her up the gangway. Also, you didn't ask, but at Labadee (and I assume Coco Kay), they have sand wheel chairs that they can use to push people out to chairs, clam shells, etc. They are pretty cool - they have giant squishy tires.
  16. I personally like staying in Old Town Alexandria when visiting DC. You can stay right by the metro station and be in DC in no time, but then head back to a quite, quaint pretty neighborhood with lots of great restaurants and a beautiful waterfront. The water taxi from DC to Alexandria is a beautiful ride, particularly around sunset. We've been quiet happy with the Residence Inn on Duke St. Also, you can take Amtrak from Baltimore directly to Alexandria. I managed to catch the 8:48 am train after disembarking from Enchantment in December, and was in Alexandria before 10 am.
  17. I think your question about the Port Arrival Time is asking when you should get to the embarkation port, right? When you check in, you can select that time. Check in should open 45 days out. The sooner you check in, the better selection of times you'll have.
  18. Baltimore is such a nice and easy port. Vision has some slightly more interesting itineraries when it gets there.
  19. I loved Enchantment over Christmas - also traveling solo. Have a great time (and hopefully much better weather than we had ...).
  20. On Enchantment it was up and running in December, at about 3 MBPS. But the nice thing was it was consistently that - in my cabin, around the ship, etc. The last cruise I went, which was before the pandemic, I could maybe get my emails to load on the top deck of Serenade. On Enchantment, I could stream Netflix without buffering.
  21. And I've never been on one that didn't (other than one trip where everything was in Eastern Time regardless). It's up to the captain, but it seems like most ships do change these days.
  22. I loved Enchantment as a solo cruiser (Granduer's sister ship). I can see why some people would prefer larger ships, but I don't get the hate for this class. It's okay if it's not your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it's terrible ....
  23. I was on Enchantment for Christmas and did a live review. I loved it, despite being old and small. If you have any specific questions, happy to answer them.
  24. On my Enchantment cruise over the holidays, I was awkwardly by myself at a table for 8 for four nights. My waiter managed to get me out in just over half an hour in the late traditional setting. So I think it can be done.
  25. So Air Canada doesn't even use the international terminal at Logan, so it is going to be pretty much like a domestic flight except you have to show someone your passport at some point (although I'm a US citizen, so I can't say for sure there aren't other hiccups). The cruiseport and the airport are quite close, but there can be traffic - particularly because they are closing one of the tunnels to the airport this year. But all and in, I feel like if you are off the ship and through customs by 9:00 am, a noon flight is totally doable.
