  1. Yes, I am so very glad it was not on the ship, but more thankful it wasn’t on that 10 flight from DFW to Amsterdam. I’m healthy as a horse, so this caught me by surprise, but things happen for a reason so in the fullness of time we may know why. Or then again, maybe not. 🤭. Thanks for the kind thoughts. And in case you are ever tethered to a bed by monitors and IVs for two days- that’s a looot of time for cruise shopping 😉
  2. Well, y’all,it’s a sad day in Magnoliaville. I spent the last two days in the hospital with my first ever (and impressive as hell) episide of a fib. All is well now and I’m home, but sadly our Viking river cruise in two weeks is off. Zip,zero, nada, no way Jose, just ain’t gonna happen. But I can’t still look at my WP account and say, “wow, look at all those points that cruise got me”. Insurance will reimburse us, and there will be another opportunity for that trip. Life is good. Trying to find a positive spin from the cancellation.
  3. Consider this, how much is you final payment (don’t tell us, this is an excersice for you). Multiply that by 3, is that amount of gain plus what you will spend on your onboard account worth maybe taking the 2o k now vs waiting til heaven knows when for a 25k offer, just food for thought
  4. They do approve right away if you have good credit. However, remember that part of getting your points is that you have to chrge a certain amount of money in a specified time. So factor that in, too
  5. I would like to advise you of something. I hope to not get spanked for this. there is a site on the big social media platform that is named something like buy and sell cruise next certificates. If you search for it, you will find it. People there post CN and CF certificates that they have to sell. For whatever reason, they can not use them and typically you can buy them for less than you would have onboard (or in the case of CF, at purchase). You can purchase them and use them and it’s done safely.. I know this because I sold a $500 CF yesterday and received my payment via PayPal within minutes.
  6. The introduction of FCC during COVID (I don’t recall such a thing prior to z2019 or am I mistaken?) has lead to such crazy interpretations that it makes things difficult, if not impossible to understand,as it seems different NCL employees interpret things differently. 🤯. Add to that the curve balls they throw you if you have used WP to upgrade and you are at the mercy of NCL/WP to deceifer what has happened. Excuse me, please, while I open another bottle of wine 🍷
  7. Is there no one at NCL who can write succinct, clear and unambiguous English? Obviously not.
  8. The last time I remember seeing 25K was in November or so of last year (remember it because DD applied for one). I do remember seeing a 30K but that was many years ago and just the one time.
  9. Spending a zillion dollars for a business class seat is like a root canal without anesthesia for me. 🤯. On our Iceland trip we got lucky and our bid to use air miles for the upgrade was approved, so it was only $1500 total extra for us. We are doing our first European river cruise in July and have the same bid in, so we are crossing our fingers and making sacrifices under the light of the moon that the air gods will smile on us again. DFW to AMS is a loooong haul. I can take a daylight flight from LHR to DFW home, okay, but that first leg is a rough way to begin a dream trip.
  10. I’ve never seen a standard outlet in a cruise ship bathroom. You can buy a dozen or so little tea light battery operated lights for nearly nothing at the dollar store
  11. Congratulations! For those who are open to upgrading their cabins, the upgrade option really is a tremendous value.
  12. My favorite mimosa is using Simply Peach with a frozen peach slice for garnish
  13. The promo code thread is a sticky and is right below the NCL MC thread.
  14. We have not bought the wine package in many years and you had the option of having all the wine delivered to your room or claiming it one at a time from designated bars. I notice now they say must be consumed in the DR. This is a nonstarter for us, as we enjoy a glass or two on the balcony.
  15. We are Diamond on NCL but I am well aware of their faults, especially since COVID. We had a Star cruise in August from Southampton to Reyjakvik that was fabulous, but the Prima (you must say that name in whispered tones of the deepest reverence- the use of sacred oils is optional but recommended) bumped our overnight stay as they had decided to arrive a day early for their christening. So our 11 day became a 10 day and we were forced to add an additional night to our post cruise plans (not a cheap add on in Reyjakvik, BTW). The reviews of the Prima have been blistering at worst, ooh it’s so pretty at best, but NCL seems to have done nothing to address the plethora of communication issues with this vessel. I’m so sorry you missed much of Iceland as it is a truly magical place. We have memories of a lifetime trip and plan to return in 2025 to finish the sites we could not see in 3 days post cruise. I do hope my favorite cruise line will find its way out of the weeds and return to the line that it once was. Happy sailing in the future.
  16. Last fall I called in to do my reservations and the agent told me they only release 25-30% depending on the ship. If it’s urban legend, someone should tell NCL personnel to stop telling this to passengers.
  17. Well said, Traveling Man, but there are those who continue to crow about using their points for OBC. I believe it is a testimony to the failure of schools to install a working knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  18. OBC is the worst possible use of points,as the others have pointed out. best use is cabin upgrade. Check the difference in Inside rates vs ocean view. 30,000 points to go up one category or 60,000 for double upgrade. Highest you can upgrade to is a BA. You cannot upgrade from an X category, unless that’s changed recently. use you CC onboard and receive 3 points/$ then get a statement credit for charges. One way you get zero new points, the other you get triple points for your next redemption. BTW, there is a sticky dedicated to the NCL M/C
  19. We have always had robes in our cabin. Also, never above a BA
  20. Is the smoked old fashion only available inthe Haven bar?
  21. And if the sock monster is lurking about, the Tupperware lid stalker cannot be far behind. Run!
  22. Yes you can. We have two very nice insulated cups we got years ago as platinum guests and we bring them so when we have DOU in the casino we can fill our cups for later on. Helps that they are opaque.
