  1. No idea about the rule change as my two are in their 30’s. On Iona at the moment and the children at last nights formal looked fabulous, a lot of adults didn’t bother but each to their own.
  2. Personally we cruise for the ports. We have seen many places that we would never have thought to book a holiday to. Agreed that some ports we could have done with more time to explore and some much less. Some ports we will stay on the ship but only because we have visited many times. People cruise for different reasons, some for the experience of the ship itself and that’s great too. Might be that sailing only cruises could be introduced for cruise only experiences, it wouldn’t be for us though.
  3. Thanks for the replies, good advice to follow. I had been winding him up by promising to wave to him from the ship while he was still queuing outside.
  4. On our upcoming cruise in October my husband and myself will be different loyalty tiers. The booking is in husbands name (Mediterranean) I will be Caribbean. How will this work with the different benefits? Will I miss out or will he gain.
  5. They can be used onboard, it’s only booze that they keep until the end. Have a great holiday 🎉
  6. Been looking at this for next month too, you can get the ferry independently would just need to check the timings. It also works out cheaper which is a bonus.
  7. Just back from an excellent cruise on Britannia which we can’t fault it at all. However after visiting a toilet with a slightly overflowing bin I noticed that sanitary bags no longer seem to be provided. None in the cabin either, hopefully the cabin steward would provide if asked, Not nice for the cleaners though 😳
  8. The last time I was there we were dropped off near Piazza Venezia, it was a few years ago though. Walked just over 7 miles that day so very comfy footwear needed. Worth every step and would never say no to Rome.
  9. Just showing the Viking Village & Tvinde waterfall, walking tour and a very expensive sea plane flight seeing available at the moment. As OP said, there should be something from tour operators in Flam itself.
  10. Just looked and the only Flam railway excursion not sold out is the one where you cycle back down.
  11. On Britannia on 28th, no bookings available yet for dining or entertainment as still saying to enquire on board. No details for Limelight club performers either. We chose this due to the stop in Flam. Iona is better for dining but not been on her at full capacity.
  12. Sailing on Britannia in 3 weeks and just been given a boarding time of 12.45. We’re Mediterranean level, cabin is mid aft deck 9. I could never figure the boarding🤪
  13. I use the torch on my phone, just have to be careful I don’t get the Aunt Sally look 😳
  14. Excellent evening, felt very safe there. As Crimson Moon said be aware of personal belongings. Great laid back atmosphere with lots of different nationalities all getting on.
  15. Loved the Keel & Cow. My hubby loved the sticky duck so much he asked for a double portion as a main and they obliged.
  16. Good to hear you’re having a good cruise and thanks for the updates. We are cruising the Canaries next week but not with P&O as they didn’t have flights 🙄🤣
  17. Just looking on planner to book dining for an upcoming cruise and noticed a price difference depending on the time you dine. Early doors is £5. less per person ?? seems a bit cheeky as it’s the same menu all evening
  18. We did this with a cruise booked for later this year. Phoned P&O direct and she did it for us, even got us the same cabin which we had just cancelled. Lost £100 deposit (booked onboard) but gained £450. extra obc (will cover the husky sled trip) Phone them, they are very helpful
  19. I cough a lot but that’s due to having COPD not Covid. I do get annoyed at having to explain this when people treat me like a leper. Not all coughs are covid and due to my risk of chest infections I wear a mask and do home testing before cruising. I would never lie about a test and don’t agree with people that do. On a lighter note I wish they would invent a mask that filters out perfume/aftershave on black tie nights 😷
  20. Personally I’m 50/50 with the app. Yes it has some good features for booking things and showing queue numbers. The downside is having to carry my phone in the evenings and constantly having to check and refresh. Really don’t like this when wanting a pre dinner drink, also find it quite rude if in conversation with other passengers. Just prefer to leave the phone in the cabin when on holiday, plus for some strange reason my hubby can’t get it to work on his phone 🤔
  21. On Ventura now, have not been able to book any speciality dining. Tried booking on embarkation day at around 6pm and nothing available. No food in Glasshouse. MDR would advise joining virtual queue as early as possible. Service can be slow. in general the staff are friendly and the food is good but obvious signs of staff shortages
  22. On Ventura, it’s pretty bad trying to get a meal in MDR. Speciality dining has been fully booked since embarkation and I have honestly never had anything this bad regards waiting times and service in all the years cruising with P&O ☹️ We’re 11 nights away from Caribbean tier, not sure we’ll get there if they don’t sort things out and concentrate on all ships not just the new ones.
  23. Hi, I would also avoid a balcony on deck 9 due to privacy as they are quite visible from the prom deck. Also check the location of any hot tubs as they can be noisy at times. We we’re mid aft on deck 10 which was a good location for our needs.
  24. We prefer Freedom dining. Have tried Club and it wasn’t for us, we usually only eat 2 courses and feel it would be rude to leave the table while others are only halfway through their courses.
