  1. No bigger leap than going from Disney to Princess as Padgett did. The problem is that Padgett had no background/experience with the cruise industry (not associated with Disney cruises. when he came to Princess to oversee the development of the highly successful and much admired app. And his success with the app led to his promotion to be President of PCL.
  2. And that is the problem. Princess used to be different in a number of ways from their main competition and this stood out to many people as the first cruise line to look at for a cruise. But gradually Princess has decided to eliminate what makes them different (and better) than the competition. Besides what is being discussed on this thread, changes over the past few years have ranged from eliminating the ability to book a shore excursion and not pay for it until the cruise to no longer placing a chocolate on the pillow every evening. If Princess is just like the competition, then why look at Princess first? If I am going to go to Alaska or take a Caribbean cruise to St Thomas, St Martin and a private island (and, let's face it, Princess Cays does not have the best beach), then price becomes the determining factor for similar experiences.
  3. There is no doubt if your Medallion is in the room or not. You do not have to be in the room even if the Medallion is.
  4. Two people can pay $1056/day + taxes without a package for a penthouse suite (random cruise I looked at for next summer) and Princess says, "That's not enough for one day. We will charge you $5 for calling room service."
  5. The bigger the ship and the shorter the cruise, the more difficult it is for all Premier passengers to get reservations at the included specialty restaurants, especially when those without the package can also book (and pay for) reservations in advance. Hopefully you have a screen shot of when the reservation did exist in the App.
  6. So if I fill up at every opportunity at the included at no-additional-charge buffet and thus become a "large" customer, does that mean they will pay attention to my E-mails then?
  7. Thanks for the update. So no inside passage going north now or south at the end of the cruise.
  8. Boarding: Be able to unpack as soon as you get to your cabin. No need to possibly wait untilafter dinner to get suitcases delivered to cabin. Disembarking: Easy to get off without having to search a pile of luggage on shore to find your luggage.
  9. Hard to believe that there has been no announcement on board about the delayed departure.
  10. Goes along with the advertising that says "drinks and internet and crew appreciation are free with certain fares."
  11. Does not seem to me to be more complicated than what they can already do: know if you have the benefits of Plus-$50 or Plus-$60 or Premier $75 or Premier $80.
  12. No, the Plus package was no supplied by your TA no matter what you see on the Princess web site. Whether you have the $50 or $60 Plus package, you paid the $50 or $60 per person per day for it as part of your cruise fare.
  13. Right, with Plus each persoin gets to use one device at a time. Not everyone uses 8 devices, but a 3rd and 4th passenger do not have to have a package that the first two have. So you could have four people using the 8-device capability. Many people do have two devices they like to have signed on at the same time, a cell phone and a laptop computer for example.
  14. In June, the Island had "Alfredo's in Sabatini's" several times for lunch. Basically, they offered free pizza Alfredo style at that venue. It was very popular each time it was offered. Not known is if they will continue this or, if they do, charge for it. I am sure the line would much shorter if they charged $12/person for it.
  15. No way to predict what, if any, black Friday deals will be offered.
  16. If you share your log in credentials with every other passenger on the ship, then every passenger on the ship could use what you paid for, just one person using a single device at a time, but it could be a different device each time for that person.
  17. Good luck getting that stockholders benefit with RCCL. You can only get it if you pay full price for a cabin.
  18. Princess offers two options for the Wi-Fi. First is a package which allows the use of one device at a time. Can be used by many people, but only one device (one person) at a time. Second is a package with allows the use of up to four devices at one time. All four can be used by one person or can be charged with as many other people as you want, just no more than four devices at a time. So when they are pointing out the "one device per person", they are just indicating the option for once device at a time.
  19. Stockholder OBC was never refundable. Military OBC was.
  20. EZAir's contracts with the airlines only allows them to have x number of seats available to them on flights and not necessarily seats available on all flights, So if you do not see the flight you prefer, seats on it are not available to Princess.
  21. Last December: Two lines -- have Medallion and do not have Medallion After check-in if boarding has not started a waiting area for Elite/Suite with refreshments, a waiting area for Platinum & Cluc Class without refreshments, and a waiting area for all others.
  22. I think it was in the dream of the perfect DMW before the software was written. The object was to put together a table with x people who wanted to eat in the same dining room at the same time at the same eating speed. Eating at the same speed would determine when the table would be available for the next group of people.
  23. Right. Two lines for check-in: Have Medallion or do not have it yet. (Green vs Blue) If boarding has not yet started, separate waiting areas based on CC status or type cabin (suite, etc.) with boarding by priority one it starts. If boarding has started, go directly from check-in to ship no matter what your CC or cabin type.
  24. Cruise ended June 28. Check received July 12.
