  1. I absolutely love to enjoy my cigar (in the designated area of course). Especially when there are lay-down chairs. Enjoying a fine stogie on the high-seas, with a bourbon. Man, what a peaceful time.
  2. Which angle are we playing today? Mega ships are too big, don't feel like a cruise, and the smaller ships offer a more relaxing experience or We need more mega ships, no one wants to sail a non-brand new ship, Icon of the Seas for all The port strategy is certainly an interesting one. To be the only one in a market certainly drives a certain business. I also think the Venezia strategy is intriguing as well.
  3. There will absolutely be robots in the future. When? Who knows? As the workforce continues to refuse to do certain jobs, labor soars in coast, and is in short supply, AI companies will swoop in with solutions that will be tough to refuse. Not to mention the mess that cruise lines are in. It could be a godsend if done correctly. Will they replace all staff on board? No. They would be wise to start with a lot more of the "behind the scenes labor." The robot bartenders are a gimmick that don't provide the same vibe as good bartenders.
  4. Large gift card purchases ANYWHERE carry a risk. Physical cards can get lost. Digital cards can be intercepted or cracked. There is little recourse. Obviously, we also saw what happened here. My travel credit card is 4.5% back, and includes travel insurance. Not to mention all of the other purchaser protections. Also not to mention that some cash back portals may have additional cash back if you purchase through qualified web sites or credit card cash back offers (also make sure to compare the bottom price offered elsewhere). In the end, the difference of savings can be very small, or not there at all. Just because people can throw out that they "saved $600" doesn't tell the whole story. With that said, I often buy a few hundred to cover my gratuities and onboard spending.
  5. I wouldn't be mad about a menu change. However, on my last cruise on the Celebration, there was more variety than ever. The excel class has done what a lot have asked for. Not only was there the other venues in Guys, Chigbang, and Cucina, but sometimes, there was a "special entree" in the MDR. I'm pretty sure there were a few things I never saw before. Including the chicken parm from cucina. I wouldn't be mad to see the port of call options return. Those were fun.
  6. Princess Cays is a similar experience, but far more rocky. Half Moon is just a gorgeous beach. The price of its itineraries, the beauty of the beach, it's all so simplistic.
  7. I actually thought it was pretty much the opposite. It seemed to me like for the average person, it was a great one-time experience. After that, the luster, and the price tag wore off.
  8. How is it hardly worth it? Is 1 liter of Jack at the bar coming at some premium? Some of us love making a heavy pour in our room.
  9. Depends. I honestly could care less about the desserts and appetizer at the steakhouse. Plus, it also depends what the other half wants. If I can get away with a good steak for $24 vs $96, I don't think it's always worth that difference.
  10. Should the average person? Yes. Should you? No. Chances are, the food wasn't nearly as bad as you made it out to be. You will likely find the same disappointment.
  11. I don't know that "especially seniors" are more likely to get it. Are you more likely to get COVID on a cruise ship vs not traveling? Probably. Is it still a "big problem?" Debateable.
  12. Nothing I would ever purchase, but I could see it being a value for people with no international internet. I love my T Mobile.
  13. Here's how it works: everything onboard happens the same (except the sail away party may be impacted). Meanwhile, all of the busybodies scramble to understand how this has ruined their life.
  14. In January, I took my 10th cruise. Never had a problem with scissors before. This time, they got confiscated in Miami.
  15. As is always apparent, you can never make everyone happy Post 1 - Why won't Carnival stop weed use? Post 2 - Why is Carnival trying to stop week use?
  16. I'm not sure what anyone expected out of the west coast. There's the Catalina/Ensenda, Cabo/Ensenada, Puerto/Mazatlan/Ensenada, 2 days at Ensenada, 2 days at Cabo/1 Esenada. Personally, that's more than I expected. I really enjoyed the Puerto, Mazatlan, and Cabo itinerary. 2 days at Cabo piques my interest.
  17. I got my fill, I could have asked for more, and I'm still here to complain. The FOMO is strong. You apparently aren't satisfied until you overeat or waste food, right?
  18. I cruised in January. Can confirm that without doubt, it was bigger than my thumb.
  19. That didn't take long. As we all must know, people are leaving dinner completely starving.
  20. Cruise prices generally have been, and will continue to be determined by supply and demand. There are still people out there that think cruise lines are giving cruises away for free. Prices are up everywhere. They also continue to shrink their fleet. Do they always do it perfectly? No. However, they are generally not looking to have empty rooms sailing.
  21. Honestly, the party thing on 5 days cruises is overblown. You might get a little of it here and there. Especially during spring break. They aren't giant frat parties. Otherwise, you will survive. Also, better get on a Charleston cruise while you can. The future of it doesn't look so good.
