  1. we were in the lowest category ( 2037) and had plenty of room for storage. My husband is tall enough to use the top shelf. You will have more drawers. All cabins are convenient for moving about the ship. We liked being low and mid ship better for the Drake Shake! We felt that these staterooms were a bit bigger than Ocean Ships. You will have a great time I am sure. There are great discussions specific to Viking on the other Social Media page.
  2. I must have missed that there are earlier dates for booking excursions? What are they or where can I find that information?
  3. my understanding is that if you have insurance that covers "pre-existing" conditions medication changes are not a problem. That is why we always buy truip insurance immediately. Perhaps coverage in Canada is different.
  4. viking's Expedition team was extraordinary ( although I have no comparisons) and were so very knowledgeable. The ship is very comfortable and food was better than the larger Ocean ships. The entire crew was friendly and willing to help anyway possible.
  5. if anyone is considering doing Antarctica...do not hesitate...just back from cruising on Octantis one of the best trips we have ever done! Iguassu Falls was also amazing!
  6. and lower the water level significantly in the aft pool and close the hot tub. Sometimes the Spa has been closed too!
  7. janetcbl...and enjoy and embrace every minute of the grand adventure that you are able to do!
  8. Begen to NYC...the latest we could go was late June in 2025. 2024 had some later dates.
  9. our flight home does not leave BA until 11;55pm YUCK!
  10. Great Game!!! We will won't be onboard the Octantis until the 10th...will toast from Ushuai....I'll have them charge your account on the Neptune but with our SSP it will be $0!
  11. We actually got two letters and I did post it on Clay's thread.
  12. detroit70...we live in Detroit too! Did you see the the Expedition ships as they passed through this summer?
  13. Other than the $1000 off if I have a booked cruise, I am not finding any great deals on cruise fares mostly FREE air. Is there a better place than the traditional Viking website I should be looking?
  14. I hope it settles too for all of you. Don't remember stormy seas when Pat and I were with you on that first WC. We did miss the cook islands and Napier as I remember for bad docking conditions but not lots of rocking and rolling....we are hoping for a "Drake Lake" as we head to Antarctica in a couple of weeks!
  15. the pounding and shaking IMO is still unnerving even for a seasoned cruiser . If you are going on an open water cruise you must be prepared for rough weather but will probably not have any!
  16. Pushka, I am so sorry that you missed SO VERY much of your cruise. it sounds the worse ever....I hope you get adequately compensated but I amnot sure that is even possible considering the great distance you traveled. It seems that the weather this winter season and high water levels was so much worse than ever before.
  17. Yes you can use OBC for gratuities.
  18. Jim, I must have missed that you are taking another WC...is this #3...I am sure you will have a great time.
  19. Jim, I don't think we have EVER disagreed previously!!! Now is the TIME....GO BLUE!!
  20. You are all so very lucky having Mike Seigal ( and his wife Wendy) as your resident historian!! His lecturer are very good! If he does a tour of the Bayeaux Tapestry from the staircase walls do participate. They are excellent company, try and have dinner with them! They are great escorts on tours too! Lucky to have Bruce as your CD too. Wait until you hear him play the piano! We were on his first Viking Cruise on the Jupiter. He was interviewed for a recent Viking promotion brochure on World Cruises.
  21. On the first Inaugural WC everyone had included laundry...what an amazing treat! I guess we wore out the laundry workers because it was never offered again! We smile everytime we put on something with a Viking laundry tag. Wishing you all a most amazing adventure!
  22. but how will they have accommodations for 900 folks on the land portion or the flights? Everyone will arrive at once, unless they are going to divide the ship's passengers into separate groups. Guess I will ask our cruise consultant next month!
  23. nice hats...are the jackets fleece? When we did the WC Viking asked us before we boarded what liquor( they were full bottles not miniature) we wanted stocked in our rooms. Do they still do that?
  24. Lucky they will let you off. anytime we have diverted for a medical emergency it has been a drop off the patient and go! Enjoy...prayers for the ill passenger.
