  1. BUT in viking's case it IS voluntary unlike resort fees or taxes at hotels.
  2. I can not imagine spending time at a laundry during the short time we have in port. On our recent cruises in Portugal and Bucharest to Amsterdam the laundry never took more than 24 hours. Always perfect..yes a bit expensive but when I check laundry prices during our hotel stays the ship was slightly less costly.
  3. That would be a huge coincidence if Jane was onboard! I would make sure I had a more substantial role in the filming though 🙂
  4. our British Isle is also very port intensive...I really would pay $$$ to add in a couple sea days...I am so afraid of missing something really fantastic that I can't ever bring myself to stay aboard and make my own free day ( although not a SEA day)
  5. If your cabin is near them on deck 3 o4 you occasionally night hear them being launched. Time to get up anyway! Same thing with the anchor way forward on deck 3 not sure about 4.
  6. Thank you so very much for this great report. We did the South America cruise on the Jupiter but it was nothing like this...we will definitely put this on the list! Anxious to be on the Octantis in January for an Antarctica cruise.
  7. I would NOT start with a Transatlantic until you experience a Viking Ocean Cruise and can determine if you will like sea days. We are doing British Isles in May and I am so disappointed that there is only one sea day!!!
  8. I just looked at your signature...what date are you doing British Isles? we go May 1?
  9. you can contact me deedavisclark@gmail.com My husband did a great private FaceBook Group post so send me your email and if you are on FaceBook I can invite you to see the photos etc.
  10. I frequently found that if I wanted a wine that was not the included wine for the evening it could take a LONG time...so as I leave the bar to go to dinner I either get another cocktail or a glass of the wine that I will probably choose for dinner. then I am not irritated waiting for a wine menu or someone to help us choose.
  11. That certainly would have been better! We were also on the terrible no air conditioning and lots of coughing bus…we have started wearing masks on the Petri dish busses. As we pull into Wurzburg this morning we are met by magical fog dancing on the River and beautiful buildings atop.
  12. We are on Viking Vidar embarked near Bucharest. Tonight we had to turn around and head back to Passau. Will bus to Regensburg tomorrow and then do a ship swap the next day after a long transit to Nuremberg. Disappointed to be leaving this great crew but unavoidable. We will be swapping with the Lif which unbelievably was the ship we first did Budapest to amsterdam 9 years ago.
  13. We leave for out pre-extension in Transylvania soon!
  14. I am thinking if Viking begins to have "limited" space on more desirable excursions it is to encourage folks to reserve higher cabin categories. I guess it will be more math to figure out if higher cabin costs are worth it for better included excursions. the included excursions on Viking Rivers seem to be better than what Viking is beginning to offer on the Ocean ships.
  15. will the leg rest in premium economy be comfortable for 6ft 2in man? or will his feet dangle uncomfortably? is PE standard on the major carriers or are some better than others?
  16. the Amazon Cruise will meet those expectations for you. Much wider than the Mississippi though. the itinerary while on the Amazon was just not what we had expected, our fault not Vikings.
  17. Clay...what a nice to have happened to your laundry. Wish everyone was kind and sweet. Someone was taking my laundry out of the drier (time was still on it) when I walked in...I asked what she was doing...her reply was that her wash was done so my drying was in HER drier!!! Sometimes there is NO response! She refused to stop taking my laundry out and tossing it on the couch. Clay...no one on a world cruise will act like that LOL!!! We had free laundry on the First WC even in the DV's. I think Viking quickly learned the lesson that Viking passengers are either really dirty or ridiculously clean! Our laundry was always perfect and on the occasion something became errant it was found quickly! Glad they did not cancel the Silver Spirits Packages....because the passengers did DRINK a lot too. You will have such a wonderful time! We visited so many special places that I did not know even existed!
  18. 🙂 Headed to Europe to enjoy Viking Rivers this fall! Will miss the Explorers' Lounge but looking forward to being back on the Rivers.
  19. Willbrook we are leaving Bucharest about that time on a Viking ship. Fingers crossed!
  20. Can someone remind me what the number is when typically Viking begins to ship swap? 286 now? We are still a few weeks from leaving so I know it is still too early to think about it. Is there ever a depth problem between Bucharest and Budapest.
  21. the provider bankruptcy is huge...just ask so many Vantage customers! Vantage offered great incentive for cash payment and many are out of luck!
  22. the bench is sometimes hard to stay on too!!! Thanks Clay for helping those that are vertically challenged!
  23. Why wouldn't someone working "over the side" have harness on? Equipment failure it tragic. My heart breaks for the crew who become family too.
