  1. Madmedic V1 or V2 NOT over Torshavn but DV6 is. Look at the diagram. We prefer V1 we have not been bothered by restaurant noise. Some noise with V2 from Star Theater but especially when they put the anchor down or up if you are quite a bit forward. Works as a great alarm clock we were in 3003. Our very outside Balcony window ( not into the room) did break though during an especially bad storm while crossing the Bay of Biscay.
  2. never heard the laundry door on 5048 BUT Torshhavn all times of the day/night when in 3055....Viking moved us during a World Cruise thankfully. Beware of taking a guarantee cabin.
  3. You will find Viking very flexible and generous in the included beverages.
  4. I had a cameo spot in that video in the Laundry!!!
  5. When we were doing it I did not appreciate how special it was! It was a great cruise and welcome to Viking!
  6. Yes it was Jane!!! Senior memory! She was in the Owner's suite!
  7. There was a British TV personality onboard...Ann McDonald, I think, she was doing a review of the ship for her TV series about cruising. So glad we were able to visit St. Petersburg and Tallin!
  8. We missed Porto too in 2017! Were you on the Sky..Barcelona, Baltic and Beyond! I wonder if I can still get compensation for the missed Porto!!! LOL....we have been to Porto twice since and will be back this fall...hope you get to visit one day. That was our first Viking Ocean Cruise and still one of my favorites!
  9. I always remember pea soup in the late evening too. Always wished I had found it at lunch one day but most lunches find us at the Pool Grill enjoying seared salmon and an onion ring! Our next ocean cruise will be very Port Intensive and I am sad we will not have care free sea days to enjoy the ship! I bet we will never have breakfast in the dining room which I always enjoy!
  10. WOW....I must learn to your polite whine verbage! maybe $100 but $1000 for one missed port is incredibly generous.
  11. We did that last year for our Antarctic trip and the seats disappeared so keep an eye on the flights. Also what we thought would be "premium" economy on Delta was only Delta Comfort, but still a good price! It was just after Christmas so a VERY busy time to fly. I bet you will have no issues.
  12. I have tried more than once and it is still a firm NO...shots crossing the equator was worse than kissing the fish!!!
  13. I would LOVE to have to go to Bratislava...so disappointed that it is on the European Sojourn itinerary. It was a great stop when we did Grand European in 2012.
  14. I do not care for Aquavit... Give me a White Lady!!! A French 75 if I want to add sparking wine cocktail!

did you have to pay extra for the seat assignments? Not much but still an aggravation.
  16. Very Irritating to be on a bus waiting for people who never SHOW only to learn later that they just left the tour!!!
  17. the one who doesn't believe HE can't hear and says I have a speech impediment and that is the issue :)!
  18. We did this cruise in 2021 and had a great time but we were just coming out of Covid and somethings were closed. We were on the ship for Thanksgiving so got see some of the Christmas decorations including the awesome gingerbread village that the Ships construct. The canal portion although early was great and narrated by one of lecturers. Make sure to attend or watch the lectures about the building of the canal. Cozumel ( included) our excursion to the ruins was canceled because it was closed due to rain the days before. Replaced with a coffe/chocolate excursion...OK not great...Panorama drive around the Island. Colon we did Airial tram and Rainforest. This was a nice tour although the aerial tram was very short ride. We did A walk in the Clouds in Puntarenas and it was good. ATV experience in Cabo was not great. Old Cartenagena by Foot was great ( but depended on guide). better than our friends who did the included. Leon was canceled ( Viking said not safe) Enjoy!!!
  19. I have been researching Air Fly Blue Tooth transmitter for use with both Ocean and River quiet boxes. Any experiences? Neither of us has hearing aids ( although one of needs them!).
  20. I think the nordic balcony is practical for the Antarctica Cruises and perhaps necessary so the vessels can go there. I agree on the Great Lakes ( we live in Detroit) and would definitely want to sit on a balcony some evenings. Perhaps with fewer people the outside public spaces are often empty.

sjd...had the flights been booked by Delta or yourself?

    Lufthansa

Although this is about our up coming River Cruise with Viking, I think this board may be able to answer my question. We have not flown with United or Lufthansa previously. We are using Viking Air. We are ticketed and have assigned seats in economy. However, when I go to the Lufthansa site it does not appear that we have seats and indeed the seats we are assigned according to Viking are unoccupied. It says we can "purchase" an assigned seat. Have any of you encountered this? I have contacted my TA and she will check when she has good internet/cell. she is currently traveling herself.
  23. Castle Critic...thank you so very much for the great review! AMA sounded wonderful...Viking loyalty is not concrete! I especially like that there is more than one choice of included excursions. I am looking forward to our cruise in Eastern Europe and believe the East to West direction will be historically interesting! I appreciate getting the longest travel day at the beginning of the trip. The anticipatory excitement seems to help with the jet lag.
  24. You do not say what size stateroom you have booked for your aunt but storing a wheelchair might be difficult. The hallways are narrow so she could not leave it outside her cabin.
