  1. well, that's the thing. I am spending $2.5K for the three of us for the basic cruise fare (with food, lodging, fun activities/entertainment, and gratuities included), not $10K. Would be even cheaper if it weren't during a spring break cruise. If i could spend $10K on just the cabins, then - what's $3K more for drinks, internet and specialty dining for 5 people? Besides, if I spend $2.5K on cabins, then adding $3K for all of the unnecessary stuff will still keep me under $10K. 🙂 I, for one, would rethink spending $3K on stuff we don't really need to enjoy a cruise rather than completely cancelling the whole cruise for 5 people. But if that's what your family wants - cancel away! Mine would rather cruise without internet or an alcohol package for a week.
  2. yes, driving with kids always takes longer. Plus, you have to account for all sorts of traffic delays/accidents/road work...
  3. it's just unreasonable to me. I can only imagine how upset my family would be if I were to cancel our cruise (mind you, we only cruise twice a year) because the optional drink package was too expensive. Heck, I'd be mad at myself. We cruise just fine without it, and we pay as we go for an occasional alcoholic drink.
  4. first, you are paying a much higher rate for the cabin to begin with compared to their "no frills rate." And then it's "only $153" in gratuities tucked on. So, no, it's not "only $153 pp for a week."
  5. that's just crazy to me. We cruise, but we don't get any packages or internet, other than an occasional soda package for the kid. And we don't cancel because of the drink package prices. Can you not cruise without adding thousands of dollars in drink, food or internet packages? These are OPTIONAL charges. It can be done, you know. And it's still super enjoyable.
  6. so, it wasn't a picture of YOU? just your work logo? Why even bother?
  7. just the passport numbers, expiration dates, credit card numbers. A photo is easy to upload. I took pics of us against a beige wall in the house and that's what I've used for a couple of years now. I use the app to choose the arrival time - first thing, but I like to type all the other data in on a regular keyboard later, when I have time for it - I am not good at using the phone's keyboard. . I am sure the credit card number can be changed at boarding.
  8. you mean - the cruise price itself didn't shock you at all? just the drink packages?
  9. yes, you can go directly to arrival time picking, and then check in.
  10. the only way to ensure the safety of your car seat is to use it on the plane. It's really not that difficult. You've seen videos of ground crew handling luggage... They do no better with car seats.
  11. a child without a booster or a car seat will easily fly out of the seat belt. We are talking about a toddler. Granted, mine was on a bigger side, but he was 34# and 37" tall at 2, and 40# and 40" tall at 3 years and 4 months. A seat belt alone will not hold him in an accident, hence, the child is considered unrestrained. You are comparing a 3 year old to an adult sized person....
  12. yes. Do you know why a 6 yo child needs a booster? A booster boosts them to a height at which the seat belt will fit them well enough to save their life. You know, instead of cutting them in half. when the reward is your child's life or them not being disabled for the rest of their life, I think it pays for itself.
  13. I don't think there will be any problems. The child is not unaccompanied, and the parents are on the same cruise.
  14. I'll relive it for you a week from now. 🙂 However, you'll be reliving it in an inside cabin, lol.
  15. Thank you for your review! It is very enjoyable and humorous. I love it!
  16. when you are in the store, the refund is processed at the point of sale. And you are the only person. RCI is processing refunds for thousands, long distance, I'd cut them some slack - they are already screwing up so badly, let them take their time and do this right. 🙂
  17. yes, bubblebum and the child has to be at least 40# and tall enough for a good seat belt fit. A great option for preschoolers and up.
  18. I am talking about taxis and ubers/lyfts. Private vans would apply as well, but not large shuttle buses. On our last cruise after 1.5 hours of waiting for a hotel shuttle, we gave up and took a taxi... Thankfully, our kid has 5-stepped out of the booster about 2 years ago (being 4'9+), so we no longer have to use it. But we brought a booster with us when traveling since he was 4. I'd rather be inconvenienced than regretful. Do others take this risk? Yes, undoubtedly.
  19. my husband's car was totaled about a mile away from our house. He didn't even travel for 5 minutes before his car was t-boned by an unlicensed, uninsured driver. How's that for reality? Didn't even take an hour of driving. If our kid had been in his car unrestrained, what do you think would have happened? Laws of physics apply even if you are on vacation.
