  1. but funnily enough, min height is 48". Does anyone know a 48" person who weighs more than 130#? My kid was 48" and 55# at 6, and he was actually tall and heavy for his age. He is 5'3 now and 120#, and he is still under the limit???? He was able to enjoy the water slides on the Getaway in 2018, and he was about 60# then.
  2. I came here to ask if the MDR food has improved since 2018. It was an utter disaster on the Getaway and the reason we swore off NCL. But NCL has a reasonably priced cruise on a reasonably new ship, so I am considering it again. But if the food is still inedible....
  3. does Horizon have Dr Pepper? I just booked our very first Carnival cruise on Horizon, and then found out Carnival has only Pepsi products? I was going to get a soda package for DS, but if it's pepsi only, it's a no go. We are a Coke family, however, DS also loves Dr Pepper. If we can bring 12 cans each, we may do that instead.
  4. I booked our first Carnival cruise last night, a forward starboard balcony on deck 8. I am worried about the smoke smell... Will it travel far enough upward from deck 5 or down from Deck 11?
  5. I don't think so. I think it's some premium liquor option or something like that.
  6. Key West cooler - super delish (pictured below). There is an adult version of it with alcohol, it's called the Ultimate Cooler (see the menu below). This was the worst Midori Sour I've ever had. Looked fantastic, but it tasted awful. I am not sure the Wakeview bar bartender knew what he was doing. So, we went to a different bar (next to the Salty Dog pub) and got Dunes instead, and it was beyond great: a similar recipe, but way better. But without alcohol, it's literally a couple of juices mixed.
  7. no, it hasn't. Comedy shows were free on Oasis.
  8. I am sure their prices may have gone up a little since Nov 2022, but I found them to be quite reasonable. We had $90 OBC to spend over 10 days on frivolities and I had a fancy coffee every day. The only sugar free syrup they had was unflavored.
  9. can yo do coke zero? it has artificial sweeteners, but tastes like regular coke. I like diet coke taste better anyway, and that's what I drink.
  10. the juices have fructose, while coke and sprite have corn syrup. I don't know what simple syrup is made from. They do have diet coke onboard, but I can't say the same about diet Sprite.
  11. yes, limes and mint for mojitos and mint-lime coke were fresh.
  12. they have choco-banana. Our favorites, though, are Key west Cooler and Zero Mojito. Also, a coke with crushed mint and lime is awesome. CruiserN1 is correct - they can make you any drink as a mocktail. We asked for Dunes without alcohol for our kid. Doesn't taste the same, but he was happy.
  13. I don't think it's the time slot. We had MTD at 6:45 and our food was nice and hot on Oasis.
  14. we had that on our cruise in 2022, I think. But I didn't see it on the new 7 day caribbean menu in April.
  15. don't look at the percentages. Look at the final $ value only. 🙂
  16. you have to turn them on. 🙂 Click on your name, click on Account Settings, click on Signature, and then turn on View other people's signatures.
  17. I don't know how it works on the phone, but in a regular online version (desktop/laptop) it appears under my every post (all the reviews that I've ever made are linked in the signature): In any case, here is the link 🙂 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2930782-oasis-april-2-9-2023-a-wonderful-cruise/
  18. that's awful. Have you talked to the head waiter or MD? or the special needs department in advance?
  19. my 120# 12 yo was NOT hungry after eating about 1/2 of any MDR dish on Oasis last month. By the way, he was 55# at 6 yo, so that tells you he is not a lightweight by any means. I am an obese glutton and even I didn't think the portions were all that small. They were normal. Like what a normal person eats during a meal. Add to that an appetizer and a dessert and pretty much anyone would be full by then. 4 oz of meat is considered ONE serving of meat in the US. To everyone else who is curious, I posted photos of pretty much all the food items we had at MDR during our April Oasis sailing. Not once did we walk out hungry, even if we ordered only one entree each.
  20. we had great service and good MDR food (you can check out my review in the signature). WJ, Sorrento's Pizza, Solarium buffet (not bistro) and Park Cafe definitely suffered from recent cut backs.
