  1. Congratulations on your 21st anniversary on CC.  I feel sad, based on your screen name, about your health problems necessitating a quieter life without cruising, going forward.  Hopefully medication will prolong your good years and you can still enjoy life.  I was just put on BP pills this week.  I didn't even know I had a high BP.  I guess that is why it is called the silent killer.

I hope your next cruises will be wonderful and maybe you will be able for more than 2.  Take care.

I think you mean Solstice is being replaced by Summit. I assume that if you were booked on Solstice, you would now be booked on Summit. At least we are hoping!!

You are correct.  As per LLP  in an email today.

The beautifully revolutionized Celebrity Summit will set sail beginning July 23 on a series of 7-night itineraries roundtrip from Seattle.
  3. Summit is sailing out of Seattle for Alaska starting July 23.

The world is opening again and Celebrity Cruises is opening along with it. Earlier today we announced our long-awaited return to Alaska! The beautifully revolutionized Celebrity Summit will set sail beginning July 23 on a series of 7-night itineraries roundtrip from Seattle. It’s been a long road and there’s more to do but this milestone calls for celebration. I want to thank all of you, our crew, our shore side teams and everyone who made this possible. The future is looking very bright.

I just can't say enough about how wonderful it is to return to Alaska. I have always had a special place in my heart for the incredible people, amazing wildlife and the beauty of this great state. I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to Alaska many times. My last visit was in 2019 on a ‘Celebrate with the CEO’ sailing. We went whale watching, tasted the local salmon and watched performances from Alaskan bands and dance troupes. It was an experience I will always treasure. The people of Alaska are really what make it so special.

The Alaskan communities have been hurting without the economic support they receive from tourism, and especially, the cruise industry. I am grateful to our elected officials across the country for recognizing the need and finding a way to restore them to their livelihoods.

I truly believe that the best way to experience Alaska is by cruise ship. Our new 2021 Alaska sailings open for booking on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 and you can find more information about them at https://www.celebritycruises.com/destinations/alaska-cruises. If you've never been to Alaska, now Is the time to go.

All sailings will depart with vaccinated crew and everyone over the age of 16 must be vaccinated; as of August 1, 2021, all US guests ages 12 and older must be fully vaccinated.

We are looking forward to sharing more of these announcements as we work to bring our entire fleet back into service. All of us here at Celebrity Cruises continue to be so grateful for your loyalty and support. Celebrity is all about opening the world and I look forward to seeing you back on board very soon

  4. Never been to the Philippines.  I was going to say, too, that this will probably be our last time to Singapore and we only have a short time there since it is the changeover day between two segments.  I am also afraid of long flights and DVT now, but even London is long from here.

We are trying Azamara for this cruise and we hope they can dock a little closer to some of the places.  I am disappointed that we are not going to stop in Hanoi as the pictures I have seen of Halong Bay are fabulous.

I was amusing myself this AM looking at Oceania as they had an ad on FB.  They have some amazing itineraries around Japan.  I think the Azamara one before ours also has a Tokyo - Tokyo itinerary suggesting it is mostly Japan ports with the regulation (?) stop in Busan thrown in.

You are very adventurous to winter in Thailand.  We would probably love it as we love Thai food.  We have only overnighted in Bangkok.

  5. We had an AQ cabin on Eclipse that we chose because it was beneath the Spa cafe.  we thought since this place is not open for dinner, we would be fine.  Well one night, they decided to clear the decks up there for Silent Disco which began at 11PM.  Our cabin was literally pulsating!  On that cruise I was quarantined in the cabin because I was stupid enough to have an iced McD's drink in Punta del Esta!  I have never been so sick and had to visit the Dr.

When we complained about the noise overhead some nights later, they listened.  They very kindly came to our cabin one day with 2 certificates for $350 each.  We were very pleased, as it showed that they do care.

  6. We are cancelling our sailing out of Southampton Sept 4 as we think it is too soon.  Then we wait till next April to sail from Japan.  I really hope things are back to some semblance of normalcy by then.  I can't wait.

Is your stay in SE Asia a land vacation or a cruise from there?  We will also visit SE Asia as part of the cruise that begins in Japan.  I love Singapore.

  7. I do keep hearing we may not have to wait the 4 months to get the second shot.  The day we went, half the vaccination stations were empty with no personnel to fill them.  I said if I weren't so old I would volunteer as I'm a retired lab tech.  She said, "We'd take you in a second!"

I think we got off to a slow start with not enough vaccine but we're catching up.  Yay Canada!

  8. How lovely that you can sit on your balcony and view all these ships.  We still have a travel ban here and can't go anywhere.  Our Silhouette cruise from Southampton kn Aug was cancelled.  So sorry, but we'll be on it another day.

  9. I have said right from the beginning that AI is not fair for people who cannot drink and people who travel solo.  Celebrity should give an option of cruise only.   I think there have been some cruises that can be booked that way 90 days from sailing, maybe?  What good is that?  All the good cabins are gone and airfare is much higher.  So, I think the only solution is to move on or accept AI.

We really felt special when we received the loyalty perks, but as has been said, they cost money and the cruise lines have to find ways now to make up for this disastrous time with no income.  i hope we can get back to some semblance of cruising as it once was.

  10. Well, you see, we'd have to fly to LA for that one, but really it would be worth it to meet all of you wonderful people!  I am bummed that our plan to meet Ellie in Southampton before our Aug 26 cruise this year got shafted.  Celebrity cancelled it.  The Sept 4 one is still on the books but a lot of people are cancelling it too, as will we.

Is the LA cruise  LA return?  I'm sure I mentioned somewhere that we like to stay in Kauai in the timeshare for 2 weeks and then sail home.  It takes away the bitterness of having to leave Hawaii!

You are so right about Kona Kailua!  Duh!  We always just knew it as Kona.

i like that the cruise is 12 days in 2023.  it has always been either 10 or 11.

And that "Teabag" is the reason I do not recommend leaving the Lahaina area when arriving via a cruise ship.  You were lucky that if you had missed this tender return you had the option to fly to Kona.  This port has since been eliminated and you would have to fly back to LAX and PAY the PVSA penalty.  Not to mention that glorious sea days on a lovely ship.

We would never book even a private tour with others from the ship, at a port that was followed by a long sail at sea.  I hadn't thought of the PVSA!  That would have been an expensive bus trip!😀   I hadn't noticed that Kona is gone either.  It is not on our 2023 Celebrity cruise either.  They have added Kailua instead.  Why oh why don't they go back to Kauai?
