  1. As we were on the Ovation voyage with you in June, I can agree that service on that voyage was quite good--in fact, it was the best service we have ever experienced on a Seabourn cruise--in every venue. So--I am disappointed to hear that you have not had the same on your Alaska itinerary.
  2. We don't cruise as much as some of you here do, but even we enjoy seeing staff and crew from a previous voyage--especially if they were especially good at their jobs and always cheerful. We also are interested in the life paths of young crew members and have enjoyed hearing about their home countries, their families there, and their plans and goals for the future. While they are not our friends, they are people we have met and we do care about them and wish them the very best. We are cognizant of the fact that while on board, it is important to be polite and considerate--come what may. The crew are not our servants--they are people doing a job from which we benefit.
  3. This is a totally neutral question--having nothing to do with your current CD. I do believe that an excellent CD adds a LOT to a cruise. Saying that--I would like to ask--what do YOU expect from a CD on Seabourn to make your experience what you think it should be.
  4. I have noticed that Virtuoso at their annual conference has awarded Silversea their top accolades.
  5. We received that as well and I had to laugh. We will actually be in NY in August and into early September and don't expect to see any turning of the leaves.
  6. Jon, That's exactly our feelings about the TK Grill on the smaller ships. We like the small intimate personal space, but miss the bar with the musician.
  7. You are so right. It is important to consult with your own doctor who knows your medical history and if you take any prescription drugs which would not work well with Paxlovid.
  8. If you read the whole thread, it was discovered that the heaters at Earth and Ocean on Ovation were installed in the last few weeks. So--everyone was correct. They were not present for our June Ovation cruise--but are there now.
  9. Thanks for supporting reporting highplanesdrifers. What some don't realize is that everyone has a different way of reporting about their cruises. Some people concentrate on the details onboard the ship, while others report more about what they see in ports. Both types of reporting work for me! I just like to gather as much information as I can and appreciate all reports.
  10. I would love the SALT excursions as well, but if they were not included you would be paying for them on top of the included excursions. If Silversea would give credit for the included excursions you have already paid for--I could get onboard for that.
  11. jondkf, please don't limit your further posts due to the complaint of one poster here. Your posts are welcomed here. There is always going to be someone who disagrees with what you say. Just ignore them.
  12. Did you leave a word out of your post? Are you saying that people who want silver service don't dress appropriately? Where would you get that idea? Mr. SLSD and I always dress appropriately even though we favor elegant casual every night. We state our preferences, but meet dress codes. Please explain if you were thinking of something else.
  13. You are so right to point out the adding an excursion on Seabourn significantly increases the daily cost. At the same time, we can choose to do an excursion--or not--and don't have to pay for basic excursions we would have not have chosen. I notice that Silversea has special excursions (extra cost) but does not prorate them based on the fact that you have already paid for an included excursion.
  14. We also enjoy having lunch in a port when it works out that we can do that--and find an appealing restaurant. The lunch we had in Tromso this last June was memorable as well as a buffet (!!!) lunch we had another day in the Lofoten Islands. Yes, I will sometimes do a buffet and don't complain when it is in a charming Norwegian restaurant and features fresh salmon and other great dishes.
  15. I'm glad you mention price as it was, in the final analysis, one determining factor when we were choosing our next cruise. We were looking at a 14 day Silversea itinerary and a 28 day Seabourn itinerary. Our aim is to escape the heat in our state next summer. We could choose 28 days on Seabourn for very little more than the 14 day respite on Silversea. The choice was fairly easy. especially for my husband who is reluctant to go back to Silversea. I agree with Markham that Seabourn is not truly a luxury experience if one's choice most days for lunch is a buffet.
  16. That is a shame as Paxlovid(an anti-viral) was no charge for us in the US with our doctor's prescription. As my doctor put it--there is no longer a shortage of this drug, so he was very willing to prescirbe it for us to take along on our June cruise.
  17. So true, but it will be without the ambiance of the MDR. IF a table is available on the Veranda , it is ok. By the way, I am not the only person here who doesn't like buffets. I have my reasons.
  18. But, you would have to go through the buffet to see what is there--and there is the issue of the utensils, etc. etc.
  19. Thank you Nancy. Actually, we were ALL correct. There were no heaters at Earth and Ocean on Ovation until recently--and they were installed AFTER our June 2023 cruise. I'm glad they were installed!
  20. We all know that and it has been thoroughly discussed in several other thread. The ISSUE is a very short menu which does not change for lunch.
  21. Perhaps someone should go to the Food and Beverage Manager and ask about this and express an definite preference for the MDR opening for breakfast and lunch.
  22. Very disappointing. I hope you register your disappointment. You COULD try the veranda of the Colonnade and order from the menu there. I know you prefer the Restaurant--as do we.
