  1. I suggest that she pack several pashminas that will go with the dresses she plans to bring. That should take care of the issue. This is what I do. I generally do not need them though and don't recall being blasted by cold air on the ship. It probably depends how close to a vent you are seated.
  2. I only take a few photos of food--and it is ONLY for people in this group--so they can see what is being served. I always do it as quickly as possible (and discreetly) and only one shot. Next time we are on the same cruise, introduce yourself so I will be careful not to do it in your vicinity! I think having a few photos makes a real time commentary a bit more interesting. I would find a constant flash and repeated attempts a bit annoying too.
  3. The laundry bag is smallish, but you would be amazed at how much you can put into it! We have never failed to put everything we need into it. We get free laundry as a perk now, but we always found the $50 charge to be reasonable when we didn't have the perk because the bag holds an enormous amount of laundry if you load it right!
  4. It happened to us all the time while we were on our Seabourn cruise. There was never anything different or unexpected.
  5. I didn't read carefully enough before I replied (too much multitasking) and your Venture cruise will be so different from our cruise which is on Sojourn. Totally different experience from what I have been reading.
  6. We sail in July/August 2024 and not all excursions are available yet. I had occasion to speak to the excursions desk to get wait listed on a particular excursion and they told me that some excursions for our voyage are still in the works. I'm not worried about it. I think we just need to be patient. Yes, it would be nice if Seabourn already had everything arranged, but they don't.
  7. I just checked on this. I even used Safari as I cannot usually navigate the Seabourn website on Chrome. I found 46 cruises showing for November and December 2023. A surprising number of them were showing as SOLD OUT, but this was less than a third of them.
  8. I would enjoy hearing about your cruise and I know others would as well. And, how is the ship (condition, food, service, passengers, etc) ?
  9. Our doctors gave us prescriptions for Paxlovid before our cruise last June. Thankfully we did not need them. They did not give them grudgingly as we had both taken the drug previously when we had Covid, with no ill effects. Doctors always do check to make sure medications do not interact badly, so that is not unusual. My husband contracted Covid a couple of weeks ago--not on a cruise--and was able to take the Paxlovid immediately--which substantially cut short his illness. So--I do recommend asking your doctor for this anti-viral if they deem it safe in your particular situation. Also, don't forget to put Covid tests into your bag. We took two each.
  10. We look forward to sailing on the Pursuit or the Venture, but haven't yet. My comment was meant to be about lunch in the MDR in general--and yes, it is worth it. I'm sure if there was a great lunch in the MDR on Ovation, the lunch on the new expedition ships would be equally good. No need to be confused.
  11. Did you ask why you should not drink the tap water?
  12. We have always been happy with our OB suites. In fact, we have liked them better than the suites we have had otherwise. For example, we have the last suite available on our 28 day Sojourn cruise next July/August and are on the waitlist for a different suite.
  13. My comment quoting a fellow seabourner is a bit dismissive I admit. So is saying that those who lunch in the Restaurant are "doted upon" just because they prefer to dine ordering form a menu. So--I guess it's a draw.
  14. There are so many issues with the website and The Source. I tend not to worry about them--until I do.
  15. Yes, there appears to be a different standard. For the TK Grill, no outside dining allowed. We've heard people ask the waiters and the answer is that Thomas Keller stipulated that all dining at the grill is to be indoors. Evidently, he does not have the same control over where people dine at the Colonnade.
  16. I need to find that page as we are going to be celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary on our next cruise. I think we will request a special meal--for the first time ever.
  17. We were quite surprised on our June 2023 cruise to find items stocking our in suite bar because we had not requested anything as we have found that we seldom drink anything in our suite (that could change of course). As I am somewhat slow on the uptake, I thought a mistake had been made until I finally realized that they had stocked our bar as we had requested way back in 2019, which had been our last cruise. But yes, if you have difficulty making the request, ask your travel agent to do it for you.
  18. I'm a Tyler Rose too! Yes, I was born and raised there. I have also found Cruise Critic to be very helpful. I am always confident that if I have an important question, someone here will have an answer and if they do not, they will point me in the right direction to find an answer.
  19. I have heard that Thomas Keller would not allow his food to be served outdoors and it has always struck me as ridiculous and wrong headed as we are talking about a restaurant on a cruise ship---with a lovely outdoor space available! So yes! Please Seabourn--have your own unbranded restaurant in the Keller Grill space and USE your outdoor space!
  20. Not everyone likes Indian food OR Asian food. Most people do like Italian food--so that is my vote.
  21. It doesn't matter the size of the bottles as you can get another if you need it.
  22. We really like the restaurant at lunch and have had consistently great food there at lunch. I think many would enjoy it. It is not at all like "feeding at the trough" as one of our Seabourn friends calls the buffet in the Colonnade. One of my favoirte dishes was a Mongolian beef stir fry. There is always shrimp cocktail, good salads, different entrees and desserts. Lunch in the restaurant is part of what makes our SB cruises a luxury experience. For us, it is very much worth it. Everyone is different. On our June Ovation cruise, both breakfast and lunch were well attended in the Restaurant.
