  1. A tiki bar is a restaurant and bar that is Polynesian in theme. They have lavish tropical decors and serve exotic and very potent cocktails. The first one in the US was in Hollywood was started by a man Ernest Raymor Gantt named the Beachcomber. After that another man Victor Burgeron came along and started the Trader Vic’s franchise and was the inventor of the Mai Tai. Sadly most of those restaurants are gone in LA but the original Tiki Ti and the Tonga Room are still going strong. The Royal Hawaiian Laguna Beach is another very famous one along with Strongwater in Anaheim as well as Disney’s Trader Sams Enchanted Tiki Bar. Probably more information you ever wanted to know but you did ask.πŸ˜‰ Mahalo my friend.
  2. Glad you are still here. Thanks for the recommendation. The food pics look amazing. We will be on Navigator out of San Pedro this October. We ended up booking a Royal excursion in Ensenada called "Ensenada Taste of Mexico and Margarita Madness." So imagine we will get quite full but we would like to cruise out of LA again. My biggest frustration is that we are coming into LA two days early because I am a huge Tiki fan and wanted to visit some Tiki bars. Unfortunately where we are staying at the Double Tree in San Pedro nothing is close to there except one in Long Beach. All the others are over an hour away. I don't really want to rent a car because drinking Tiki drinks and driving in an unfamiliar town do not mix. We have some friends that live there but they way live way up north. I wish LA was smaller, oh well. We will at least have the Bamboo Room on Navigator.
  3. I agree that marinated filet at Giovanni’s is awesome. I would also add the filet at the Coco Cay Beach Club is really good too.
  4. RIP Sweet Bella. A life well lived with the family she loved the best. I know she has crossed the rainbow bridge and is free of pain. Peace be with John and Laura as they always hold her deep in their heart.
  5. My friend who does drywall and did our basement told me that while knockdown takes more time to smooth things out it less messy than a popcorn.
  6. I looked into removing ours. Looked like a nightmare job. I think most homes being built now are knockdowns. Our home was built in 1997 before knockdowns were popular.
  7. Looks good. Are you going to do popcorn or knockdown? I wish I knew about knockdown when we built ours. I hate popcorn so when we finished the basement did a knockdown and it looks so much better.
  8. I like that idea. I hope you get a new one. That new Insta360 Ace Pro looks pretty interesting too if you are thinking of something different than Go Pro.
  9. MI like just about everything except for rap. Love classical as I played in several orchestras and then Jazz where I studied it at Berklee College of Music. Grew up listening to Rock, funk and soul along with fusion and prog.

  12. That actually hasn't always been the case. You need to watch the documentary "Hired Gun" (Amazon Prime) where it chronicles how Billy screwed over many of his side musicians including Liberty. They parted ways for awhile with Liberty being very angry. They have since mended their friendship. The doc is excellent and made me lose some respect for Billy.
  13. The crew is paid their typical yacht crew salaries some making more than others due to their titles. It has been a source of controversy as some crew would like to be paid more by the production company. They also get paid in tips which they keep. Such good news. Though expensive at least it will enhance his life for the better.
  14. I first learned about Clase Azule and that bottle from episodes of Below Deck. It seemed to be very popular with high paying guests along with Juan Julio 1942 as tequila for choice. The bottle is a great art piece that I will save. My bar is almost all over the place. I have a dedicated space for whiskey and bourbon and then several bar carts for all my tiki rums and other spirits. I need to organize it better but needless to say I have enough that would be as good as some bars.
