Local Destination Show on the pool deck before “scheduled” sail away: Rhythms of Bahia: a Spectacular Display of Drummers and Samba Dancers. During dinner with a very convivial group of 8 in the MDR, the captain announced that we were awaiting refueling and would probably not depart until midnight. Not sure what time we actually left because I was asleep! Attended “Club Crooner” in the Cabaret Lounge after dinner with the talented Signature Singers and Dancers. IMG_2739.MOV

I gave up and booked the ultimate package 😂

Went on a ships excursion today, “Panaramic Salvador.” It was so so. Large, comfortable bus with about 30 passengers, but the sound system was not great. If you sat in the front, the sight lines were bad and in the rear, the sound was very spotty. We opted for the rear so at least we could see. Hard to say exactly where we went (lol), but we had a nice ice cream stop and a church stop and a kind of tacky market stop! And a fort that we couldn’t hear him identify. IMG_2721.MOV

I am on the fence about the Ultimate too. DH is not a wine drinker so he doesn’t care.

It was just scheduled that way. And since it was in the library at 10 am, no drinks provided 😂 . I think there were at least 25 of us though! And since boarding day was such a shambles, it was just as well that it was put off until a sea day.

Good to know! We tend to eat later too and on previous cruises the queues have been the busiest around 6-6:30

The Patio is open for our Rio to Lisbon cruise too. The only complimentary wine I have had is the Chardonnay, which isn’t bad.

BTW, no Azamara bags on this cruise. Meet & Mingle is tomorrow at 10 am.

@oddjob16, looking forward to meeting you at the Meet & Mingle - whenever it is!! I did manage to finally meet @Grandma Cruising briefly yesterday in line at the cruise terminal. Hope to see more of you too, Denise!

Yes, that was unfortunate. It was obvious that most people had arrived WELL ahead of their scheduled check in times.

We ate early (for us) last night, having skipped lunch and there was no wait at all and service was very good. Usually we eat later so I will let you know how that goes. The Patio is open tonight (W/P) so we might eat there.

Embarkation WAS a mess, but I’m pretty sure it was the port and not Azamara’s fault. At least we were in a comfortable, air conditioned space, with refreshments. Once the specialty restaurant reservations desk opened again at 6, we had no problem getting our reservations, along with an Italian Chef’s Table. One thing new to us since our last sailing: no more stickers on the key cards identifying levels of beverage package AND they kept our passports at the pier and not sure when we’re going to get them back. Had a lovely dinner in the MDR - food as good as ever - and called it a night early!
