I've been informed by my BF that her SIL, father of her two infant grandchildren, has decided to get the vax. Up until now he's been a bit of a denier, you know the type "its just like flu", and guessed he might catch COVID and "just get over it", so he wasn't going to bother getting vaxxed. What changed his mind?  He heard from the Premier that he will be denied entry to his favourite pub if he doesn't!😱

No jab no pub should be the new slogan.

I do believe that the same problem will occur in some Africain countries as well. I would hope that the World Health Organisation is working on some sort of solution for this but I don't hold much hope on them doing this.

Africa's biggest problem is lack of vaccines. The Covax program was suppose to supply them but all the countries who were suppose to donate ended up hoarding vaccines instead🙄. Then you had the debacle of Astra Zeneca and a lot of people in Africa think they are receiving reject vaccines and unfortunately Africa's relationship with Europe reinforces that view. Ironically one of the highest vaccine hesitant groups in Africa are white South Africans. While 75% of black South Africa say they want to be vaccinated in the white community the split is nearly 50/50, the most hesitant being under 25.

Evening sportsfans, a doco to relieve your cruise withdrawal symptoms…

tune in to SBS ch30 @ 7.30pm..Ten mistakes that sank the Titanic.

Grab thy life jackets and proceed to boat stations, as the band played on.

Saw that doco a few years back. A little over exaggerated IMO but there were some interesting facts that made it worth a watch.

I read an article over the weekend about the vaccination rates in PNG and the main problem is that the people are reacting to too much misinformation from social media and also their traditional beliefs. There is also the problem of distribution of the vaccine throughout the country. There are reports health workers have had death threats.

    PNG Vaccine Hesitancy

Lots of misinformation around the Pacific especially from WhatsApp groups. I got family on WhatsApp and the stuff they get sent and send is pretty bad. The worst thing is the anti everything media look so professional it is no wonder people believe it.

Great topic. I would sail somewhere in the North Atlantic, the Canadian maritimes or Norway would do nicely.   I love the icebergs at sea and the hiking onshore.  And I haven’t yet seen a puffin😠

Puffins are worth it🤗. We saw them in Iceland on the Latrabjarg cliffs. There were so many of them and they were so docile you didn't need any zoom to photograph them, they were close enough to pet and some attempted but there was a ranger always watching and would yell out if it looked like someone's hand was getting too close😂.

I can follow that is ideal option for when we renew passport. Until then we could still use medicare?

For now we don't really have choice but I guess the problem is as @woodscruise points out Medicare is only Australian. Outside of Australia few would know what Medicare is just like in Australia we don't really know the medical systems of other countries. They have talked about linking our vaccine records to our travel passports which personally I would love but apparently quite a few countries that is legally problematic, so it seems like there will be little choice but to have system seperate to the travel passport. Ideally if we have boosters it should be added to our records and therefore automatically updated to our vaccine passports but who knows what our government will create, looking at their previous apps I'm not particularly hopeful😳.

I think I must be dense - is there any reason we can't use our Medicare Covid Vaccination that is already on our mobile phones or can be printed, as our vaccination Passport - why do we need something else???

We are able to save the document to access offline so why not use it intead of wasting more money. Oh that is right we have a PM who is into marketing so likes to make people think they need something they don't.

I failed marketing at Uni because I was too honest. 😁

I suppose the one issue it solves is standardization. Medical documents all look different around the world, you have different languages and different layouts and styles. Makes it hard for border forces and immigration to recognise or authenticate. Sort of like our travel passports, they may have different emblems and colours on the cover but they are all essentially little books with the same standard layout and features that all governments can recognise and processs.

Well the beaches aren’t golden like Bondi, Northern NSW and Gold Coast.

They got sick of the  tourist ( mainly Japanese) expecting golden sand so they bought some in

If you go to the islands and cays on the outer reef they are golden .The sand is washed by the big waves.

Anyone  who goes there should go out on a live aboard to the outer islands for a few days.

I guess whatever they're doing is working, the tourism industry has clearly overtaken the town.

One of the big highlights of the trip was the drive up the icefield parkway. It is a very pleasant drive on an excellent road. We encountered very few other vehicles. We made a few stops for photos but somehow the camera just can't capture the majesty of those vistas. I gave up and just drank in the view as we went along

I had the same problem up at Carnarvon Gorge. There is a particular part that no matter what I did with my camera it just didn't match the real world view. I don't know how some photographers do it, maybe I have the wrong equipment or not enough knowledge🤔

No………….. I am just giving up. 😱 I couldn’t care less about how to pronounce “ foreign” words  or who says what, it was just a photo of an Indian and old “saying” for them was Ugh How ..That is all I was saying.

Oh OK, sorry I guess whatever your were trying to say with the photo totally went over my head😂. I really thought you were mixing up languages. I completely take responsibility for this misunderstanding🤗.

  11. Saw this on FB found it very relatable being in Australia with our travel bans😂

So where would you go? What would you do if you could only travel one last time? Visit your favourite destination, cruise your favourite itinerary or go somewhere you haven't been? Splurge on the most expensive of everything, do something crazy adventurous or indulge in all your favourite things?

When I use to live there 40 years ago cairns foreshore was a muddy flat covered in mud skippers. Then they bought in a heap of sand from somewhere,I can’t remember where but it was controversial .Those days things just happened.

But none of the beaches are much good there because it’s protected behind the reef.
‘Even four mile beach in port Douglas is dirty sand.

Oh dear, they really thought they could resurrect a beach just by dumping sand😂 clearly not alot of thought put into that. Though I was up at PD in June and the beach didn't look dirty to me🤔

    Why? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😷😷😷😷

It's like saying Guten Morgan in Italy, just because they are both European languages you can't assume they all understand each other😉. Hell when I was in America people didn't even understand my English😂. All I could do was note the differences to communicate as accurately as possible, sometimes even had to alter my accent to be understood and I don't have a great American accent😬

Dredging the channel for the biggest ship would be money well spent.

Even for the navy to get big ships in there.

Last time I was in Cairns I read on their information boards that their esplanade use to be a large sandy beach but they dredged so much to increase space for shipping the beach was covered up by the mud you see today. I was thinking if only someone had the forsight to realise beaches would be worth a lot of money in the future🔮🤑. It makes you wonder how differently Cairns might have turned out🤔. Could have been more like PD or maybe a northern Gold Coast😂

  15. We visited Port Douglas on our QLD road trip, it was a little bit bizarre having a resort all to ourselves😳. To be honest I found PD a little strange, you would turn into a street of houses and  all the houses have holiday house for rent signboards in front. It kind of feels like the whole town is one big resort and no one actually lives there😂. Food though was fantastic, really top eateries😋
